He immediately put me at ease with his calm and grounded presence. What I appreciated most was his honesty--he never sugarcoated things but always approached tough conversations with compassion. He does not provide a safe and supporting environment in which to share your thoughts. I recently came to an impasse in my life and wasn't certain where to turn. Many of my concerns…read moresurrounded my marriage, but I wasn't sure if I needed marital counseling or simply personal guidance. The situation was too personal for me to feel comfortable sharing it with family members or friends as I don't find it appropriate to share spousal matters outside of the spousal circle. Further, I knew that "venting" would not solve my matter. I hadn't ever been to a counselor but looked online and found Sean Berkley at Louis Laves-Webb. I was "sold" on Sean after seeing his accounting background. My biggest hesitancies in seeing a counselor were (a) I didn't want to waste time, (b) didn't want to talk about superfluous matters, and (c) didn't want any zen/feeling talk (which is what I assumed, likely incorrectly, that most counselors did). I felt a former accountant would help me assess my concerns almost "spreadsheet style" and in a quick, efficient manner. After a brief phone conversation with Sean, I scheduled my first appointment. Scheduling was easy and quick (I was also concerned that I would cancel if someone was going to make me wait days for an appointment). Given I had no idea what to expect, I came to my first meeting with pages of notes and threw everything at Sean at a rapid pace. Sean is not only perceptive, he is also smart and an unbelievably attentive listener. My pace didn't seem to scare him - he gently yet confidently asked questions and guided the conversation to ensure productive outcomes within each meeting. At the end of most meetings, he would give me something specific to accomplish for the next week's meeting. Having these 'assignments' helped ensure that I stayed focus on working toward my ideal outcome even outside of my sessions with Sean. It also helped us achieve my "end" more rapidly. Even more impressively, my weekly meetings and 'assignments' with Sean began positively affecting my weaknesses as a whole, supporting my personal growth in a way that no book or classroom session ever has. I was calmer in personally charged matters and stronger in business situations. Sean became more impressive with each subsequent meeting in that he has a knack for remembering an unbelievable number of details and a fantastic ability to piece together the "whole" from the myriad "pieces" I threw at him each week. He has became a trusted advisor within my circle of influencers - someone who has wisdom in areas where I am not naturally strong, but who can handle my rapid-fire personality. We worked together weekly for approximately 3 months, and now meet on an "as-needed" basis as I do with many of my other life mentors. I wholeheartedly recommend his services.

Me and my ex-wife contacted this service, and we had counseling on October 30th. The next Thursday…read morewe were supposed to have counseling. But I had to continue work. So my boss could not let me have that off. Because it was a very important client. My ex-wife does not believe that happened. So anyways, on November 13th? We had counseling through zoom and the counselor wouldn't even let me speak. She kept interrupting me. She just wanted to listen to Everything my ex. Wife said, that's not very professional counseling. Any counselor knows that if someone has had something that's happened in their past. That it's going to affect them. They should know this, but when it comes to me, people don't believe that they believe it with everybody else. But they don't believe it with me, and all I was wanting was someone to help me. And this counselor turned me away for help. Because you'd rather listen 21 side of the story and believe one side of the story, because my ex wife has made me homeless twice jobless three times all because I need to speak to a counselor because she doesn't know the difference between someone who's actually violent and someone who needs counseling. And she thinks because if you need counseling, you're a threat to society. And this counseling service just turned me away for no reason, and I spoke to a guy to try to talk to him.And he told me to shut up.That's not how you talk to someone asking for help
