We switched out of a MASSIVELY overpriced Nationwide policy to State Farm under Greg Elder (and his awesome team: Mallory and Brennan) - and all of them have been extremely helpful. They go out of their way to call me / help me with the process, walk me through it, and Greg is just the "right kind" of brutally honest. Hey, if they can cover it, they got us, and if they can't, then they can't, they don't dink me around, and I understand. Yes, the initial quote was a little less than the final result, but Greg was honest, gave us a rough number, told us it was rough, and then through every step of the way, he made sure to keep in contact, make sure we were still good with everything, checked to see if there were options to keep it as close to the original quote as possible, compared our old and new policies with me, and that REALLY made a difference. I HATE bad surprises when it comes to how much something is going to cost. I HATE feeling like I've been lied to when I'm setting up insurance for a client's property and they're trusting ME to do them, good, because that just makes me look stupid. Greg made sure none of that would be the case, let me ask every stupid question under the sun (cause I don't know ANYTHING about insurance and every policy I've ever read might as well be in ancient latin for as understandable as it is), and I have felt good about getting my clients set up with him - and my clients (farmers) have been grateful for the better insurance, lower cost, and having access to Greg and his team if needed. We are at a WAY lower rate and the coverage is excellent (Which - when you have a middle man, I've found out is rarely the case - but not with Greg and his team). Now - hopefully, we never have to use it, right? And, I don't know how it will turn out if we did (knocking on wood), but I have every reason to feel confident with Greg and his team. He knows farmers, he knows farms, and he understands the industry. I have recommended others to him and will continue to do so. It's funny - cause I always see those commercials "Like a good neighbor, state farm is there" - well, so far, they've lived up to every bit of the hype and I'm grateful for it. In these tough economic times, having someone who will take care of people and save them money, and be proactive with- is the kind of service that my clients, like the farmers I work for, deserve to have. Frankly, I'm so tired of greedy people who are taking advantage of farmers and others in these rough economic conditions, it makes me sick - and Greg Elder, you sir - and State Farm, have been a welcome change. These guys cover a LOT more than farmers, but if you have a farm -call and get a quote. It's WAY worth it. And, to be clear, I 'maybe' write a review for someone "once" in a blue moon - because in I.T. and as a business analyst, my reputation (and especially word of mouth with farming communities) IS EVERYTHING, and I am very good at my job and sustain my reputation - so it takes a lot for me to want to do a positive review - especially a 5-star review... BUT these guys have done that little bit "extra" - that REALLY sets them apart and they're worth it. I hope this helps someone else out there! read more

Had been with State Farm for a few years, they helped my sister in a very difficult time (Dallas, OR). With Greg, we have not had the same experience currently. Selling a policy to us, he is over the top focused on customer service. Once a policy is gone, in his own words "I'm not very motivated to help you". We missed a couple payments due to issues with our card. It is on us for not discovering that earlier, I accept that. When we did discover it, we called both Greg and the toll free number to get the payments caught up. The payment was accepted by Sierra at Greg's office and we were told we would receive in writing any additional amount owed to maintain the policies. About a week later, we received a written notice that due to the number of days passed, the policy was cancelled as of 2 months previous. The letter stated we would be receiving our refund in 7-10 business days. We received a couple of checks for $13 and $17 (approximately), but not the $470 that was submitted and accepted. A few weeks went by and we receive a new letter that our renters policy was cancelled going back 2 months, again. We were never made aware of any issues with that, only the auto policy. I had been communicating via email with Sierra, she apparently never passed on my concerns or complaint to anyone. Her final email to me stated that they used the payment and created new applications for new policies (assumed that is what we wanted), but never talked to us, or had our permission to use our money in that way. The policies were cancelled in writing so we found insurance with another company. Sierra wrote that there was no intention of refunding our money. Based on her written statement, I contacted the Bend PD to report the money as being stolen. They evaluated my request and created a case number validating the concern. A week later I placed a call to the toll free corporate number in order to get assistance. That initiated the correction to our account. I received a call from Greg today (first time any communication has been received by him in the 2 months we have been dealing with this), he made it clear that as we no longer had any active policies and were no longer a customer of his, he had no desire to do any research on our account to remedy the money missing. He stated they are refunding most of the money, but implied the remaining $70 was our fault and we would need to deal with it, again, we were no longer an active customer. I called directly to the toll free number complaint department to pass on Greg's message to me that he will not be doing any work to benefit us for their theft. Never again will we use State Farm, for anything. read more
