I took a free walking tour with Marcos, who helped create and has been leading the Last Thursday art tours for the last several years. The tour started at 6:30 from the central plaza/park in town, and we wandered around town for a good 2 hours or so. We got to see a bunch of cool art (I bought some neat stickers!), some music, and there were opportunities to buy food. My favorite part was learning about the interesting history and architecture of El Paso. I'm not an architecture buff, but those who are will probably be familiar with architect Henry Trost. He has a ton of neat buildings in El Paso, all very close together. I learned cool facts and trivia about El Paso on the tour that my friend who has lived there for 6 or 7 years doesn't even know! I highly recommend taking Marcos's Last Thursday tour!

Feb 2021 Per Yelp…read more"Airway Light Sculptures" To me "Airway Light Structures" Official Name: "I-10 Airway Aesthetics" Previously when my family and I were first time stationed in Fort Bliss this Steel Structures did not existent. When we came back as we drove in El Paso it was day time and we saw them, our whole family was like "WOW! What is that?" Note: The I-10 Airway Aesthetics are best appreciated when it is dark. According to the Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority the idea behind this project between them, TxDOT and the City of El Paso was: 1. Beautify the City and the Interstate 10 Corridor. 2. The I-10 Airway Aesthetics would be known as the "identifier" for anyone going to the airport from I-10 to take the exit and Airway Blvd would lead them to the airport. 3. Also the Airway Aesthetics do create enough energy to power the smaller version of them in airway. I personally wish there was more space between them and that there was a sidewalk were we could walk near by to best enjoy this structures. They change colors ar night time and overall thats it but they do look pretty.

Like someone else stated, it was probably made to get a dukedom but none the less , I'll review. I don't pass by these very often as I live on the westside but when you pass by these at night, they are very nice to see! They also provide more light to our I10 which is always nice!

Aside from the boxers, you'll find the El Paso mountain skyline and the infamous star. Some of the boxers portrayed here are Oscar De La Hoya and Panchito Alvarado. It's an interesting site to take a view of.

Great overview of area history from archeological sites in TX, NM, and AZ. Outside the building is a great botanical garden with local plants, well labeled. Free to wander around but why not make a small (or large) donation to help support such a great place? Worth a trip if you're in or coming through El Paso.

It's a must see! They have so many beautiful artifacts, you learn so much about the native plants, animals and people who once lived here before. They have an excavation site where my kids enjoyed finding thing by using tools archaeologists use. They learned so much with the help of ms. Brooke! We enjoyed the classes and the hands on learning and skills. Highly recommend visiting and learning more about El Paso.

The water feature on the top floor was the biggest hit for my kids. The second favorite, I believe would be the large indoor playground. There is shade and covered seating so not a bad place to ce and just relax for a bit. There is a section that is wheelchair accessible. Worth a look. I would really like to wander through at the height of blooms.

It was truly beautiful, but of course it was a scorcher with the heat. All the roses had a pleasant scent. There were alliums as well. The paths were paved and easy to maneuver. Great for wheelchair bound individuals to enjoy their time out as well. A seen a few couples spending time. The parking was open not paid. There are benches located throughout the garden. Not too many bees or flies buzzing around which was a huge plus.

It is quite unique and fascinating to me now. The more I look at this piece, I like it more and more with each viewing. Definitely a one of kind art piece and such the representation of the university and of the El Paso area. I could go into this long blathering dissertation on my thoughts and the true meaning of this sculpture, but I will not rob you of 15 minutes of your life! The Mining Minds Pickaxe Sculpture is a gorgeous and stunning monument, one of my favorites in El…read morePaso. Obviously it lacks the intrinsic and undeniable beauty of a confederate statue, I cannot begin to count the times when I've gazed upon this majestic Pickaxe and wished it commemorated the valiant men who bravely fought for the right to own human beings instead of glorifying the worthless and un-American pursuit of higher education, but alas one can only wish. Still worth checking out.
