Terrible store. Owners yelled at me on the phone and would not help me retrieve my guitar after being repaired as I live 1.5 hours away. I dropped the guitar here as I was flying out of a nearby airport. I suggested they ship the guitar to my home once complete - they refused to do this because, "we do not have any extra boxes to put the guitar in." Then I asked if they would bring it to a very close UPS store and the answer was a flat "no." Then I the owner yelled at me and hung up the phone. He yelled at me saying, "Why did you bring your guitar here anyway?" As of present, I am not in possession of the guitar and I do not know how I am going to retrieve it. read more

Great place for lessons. Owner is very nice, knowledgeable and accommodating. The lessons are productive- the progress immediate. My son gets frustrated easily and wants to be a professional immediate. Generally speaking, you have to think differently about small, local specialty stores than you do big box chains. The selection is gonna be smaller and geared to whatever local market they have at hand. The service will depend on who's in the store that day. Prices will be higher, though if you are honest with yourself, you will rarely notice the difference. The point is, they're there, and when you need something you can get it immediately without driving forever. Greenwich Music is actually a really nice local resource to have around. I have bought instruments there, and have gotten fair prices on high quality stuff, but my taste is mostly more high-end than they tend to carry. I've learned a lot about the improving quality of foreign made guitars, though, from grabbing off the racks! The selection of accessories is just fine. If they don't have something you want, they'll order it for you. It'll cost the same and come as quickly as Guitar Center, and you'll have the satisfaction of helping a local businessman make it in a tough world. As for lessons: my son took guitar lessons there for about three years. One of the teachers was outstanding, one was okay, and one was not my favorite. But that's how it goes... these guys move on, get other jobs, whatever. Joe (the proprietor) was always good about letting us switch, schedule permitting. We've rented band instruments there for my two sons over the years, and ended up buying a really nice used trumpet for a very fair price. At least I think so. What do I know about band instruments? Repairs: Joe is really honest -- they can do setups and restrings, and for me they have installed a couple of acoustic guitar pickups. All fine work. For major repairs and reconstructions, you'll have to go elsewhere. Joe can give you referrals. I'm definitely a fan, and am glad to have Greenwich Music in the community. read more

Our digital drum set - that we purchased from Greenwich Music - collapsed over time and use into a pile of parts and cables on the floor. Awesome store and wonderful local resource. Recently had two guitars set up, and as usual, they finished the excellent work on a timely basis. Over the years they've worked on all of my guitars and they also quarterbacked the repair of my Marshall amplifier. In regards to purchases, have purchased several guitars and two amps. Much better experience than the big box stores and always fun to shop at Greenwich Music as there's almost always a gem of a guitar or amplifier available at a great price, new or used. Guys at shop & teachers r nice but Kelly in charge of organizing music class....wow I never seen such horrible client service. She is rude, never her fault always clients, obnoxious, unorganized, super unfriendly & unhelpful. Loved my teacher but I'll never go back there. Every time I spoke with her...wow so upsetting...
