By boat we sailed past the villages of Bellagio, D'Este and Varenna. Each view just as beautiful and breathtaking as the next. No rush here. One must slow down, stay focused on relaxing promenades throughout the town villages, and / or ferry hopping at a leisurely pace to take the time to indulge your senses in the luxury of it all. **Please note, it does get quite crowded and touristy in the summer months, as does most of Italy these days. You can also take a train there. Once we arrived, we took a boat ride to Bellagio and admired all the beautiful homes on the lake... including George Clooney's villa. We even saw the house in one of the Star Wars movies as well. Lake Como is widely known for its dramatic alpine scenery, luxury villas and charming towns such as Bellagio, Menagio, Varenna, and Como City.

Here you will find a botanical garden, but not great views due to the tall trees. Definitely continue up with the second cable car to Mottarone. After you reach Mottarone, take the ski lift (included in the cost) to the overlook platform for a great 360 degree view. On a clear day this view is unbeatable. At the top, you will find many possible activities to take part in. I noticed many people renting mountain bikes and taking them with them, many hikers, and there are several adventure type parks with lots of different activities to take part in as well. To find the station you will want to walk from city center along the lake front towards the islands. As you walk along the water front you will come to the station.

Interesting...Nobody is in rush here lol You have to change cable cars in the middle, its very smooth process since they arrive at the same time. One goes always down and one goes up. It's very steep and beautiful view of Lugano but then you loose Lugano view because it's behind the mountain. You can see very good Campione D'Italia and Paradiso and Bissone and Melide. Overall we didn't spent to much time there because we were on last train before they close. I think it was around 6 pm in first week of September. It's not cheap for 2 people even with TICINO ticket we paid over 60 CHF. It was very beautiful view but if you are not planning to take trails and be there more than few hours maybe you should reconsider. I never been in mountains for me it was first time so we went up there but all the shops and museum was closed. We had access only to small church that was from 1600's.
