This is my review of Ruben Landscapig. I used a contractor listed under landscaping and french…read moredrains in our referrals document for our subdivision. I called and talked to the lady who used and recommended them. I talked to her twice. she had nothing but good things to say about it. So I called Ruben of 'Ruben Landscaping and Desgin". I talked to him several times and he convinced me he was the man for he job. (i should have in retrospect talked to a couple more for their ideas and estimates). i am kicking myself for being so rash, and gullible. He sent out his "brother" Alex, who has a different last name than Ruben. He did not speak much English at all. Anyway bottom line is after they completed the work, (french drain) and it rained, things are actually WORSE than before the work. I am out a little over $2000. Ruben told me more than once i have a 'lifetime guarantee' on this work. He always talked to me in detail and even called me before the work and during the work. Now that he has his money, and i am dissatisfied, he has apparently BLOCKED my telephone number. i can occasionally get thru sometimes when it goes straight to voicemail. But he NEVER calls me back. I only talked to him once since the finish of the work to express my displeasure and gave him details of the problems i have, some original problems and some new ones they have apparently created. i guess he answered the phone then, since i caught him off guard and he did not know it was me when he answered. I wanted him to come out (i had never met him) to show him the problem areas. He was his usual sweet, smooth talking self on the phone, and promised me he would call to set up a day and time to see me and try to fix the problems. Well, that was a farce. He has never called and will not return my messages and like i said, i think he has blocked my number. I had been able to text Alex, his 'brother' during the work. (I cannot text Ruben). Anyway, I asked Alex in a text to have Ruben call me. But now Alex is not respoding to my texts either. What a nightmare. I had to ask Rueben several times to give me a written guarantee. He finally sent the one page document via Alex putting it under my doormat. He even had my street name wrong on the guarantee. And he left blank, "Our guarantee encompasses the following key points"... (blank). And he never used the word 'lifetime' guarantee. Anyway, the guarantee is apparently worthless, not worth the paper it is typed on.

This company is insane. I signed a contract with them (maybe-their website isn't the best and…read moredespite asking if it was actually signed since I got no confirmation that it was and my emails asking if it was went unanswered) and was promised within the week it would be done. New home and previous owner had not bothered to cut all spring. It was horribly overgrown and embarrassing by the time I found them and got estimate. I was assured it would be within the week. Signed contract and waited. A few weeks later they showed up and it was already done. They called me and I explained I had to find someone else. Starting out in a new neighborhood with an overgrown yard was not something I wanted to do. They claim they came out again another few weeks later and cut it. I spend hours a day in the yard because it's a lot of maintenance besides just the grass. Waterfalls and fish take daily care. I'm pretty sure I would have noticed my grass was cut even just walking to mailbox and why would you come out after being told not to? I did send a formal cancellation after that. Then I got a bill for $80 from them. Perplexed I inquired as to why? Their reply was "pay your bill on time to avoid penalty". Not very helpful. They finally told me they had cut it two weeks after I told them I had to find someone else. Now they are angry at me for leaving a google review explaining the situation. They are going to attempt to put a lien ON MY HOUSE for work they simply didn't do. It's miserable outside AND I would never dream of stiffing someone for work performed! It's $80 whole dollars but I refuse to be intimidated and bullied into paying for something never done. So I will see them in court. RUN SCREAMING!!!!
