Bed side manner counts!…read more Prior to becoming a patient with Dr. Eskander, I had been seeing another endodontist in Glendale who was with Adventist group. The prior doctor was arrogant and let me know that he really did not care about me. At that point in time, my A1C was 6.5. I left that doctor and started seeing Dr. Eskander about a year ago. Today, my A1C is 5.8! That is under the range for diabetics. That is in the pre-diabetic range. My thyroid and cholestral levels are now all within normal range. Needless to say, I am thrilled. Could not be happier. I want to celebrate and do a happy dance! Dr. Eskander orders blood tests for me every 3 months. I am aiming for my next blood test results for my A1C to be 5.7. That will be in the non diabetic range. I think I can make that happen. Going from 5.8 to 5.7 is not a hugh step! I think the difference in the doctor's bedside manner was hugh! I think being comfortable with a doctor does lead to good results. Of course, I am not taking anything away from Dr. Eskander's medical expertise. She is passionate about her work, and she is good at what she does!

My complaint is specifically and exclusively about the front desk and its staff…read more I want to make it very clear from the beginning that I have absolutely no complaints about the doctors at this office. In fact, the doctors are excellent, caring, and highly professional. That is exactly why it is so disappointing that the overall experience with this medical office is being negatively affected by the front desk. I also want to specifically recognize First DiaMed Pharmacy. Their staff have been incredibly helpful, responsive, and professional throughout this situation. They have repeatedly tried to help me and have contacted the medical office themselves in an effort to resolve the issue. The pharmacy is absolutely not responsible for this situation. My issue has now been going on for approximately three months and involves obtaining my prescribed medication. The main problem has been the front desk. It is extremely difficult to reach the office by phone, and when I am finally able to speak with someone, the communication is often very rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. Even more frustrating, I receive a different explanation almost every time I contact the front desk. I have repeatedly been told that everything has already been sent and that I simply need to wait, while the pharmacy continues to inform me that they are still waiting for the necessary response or action from the medical office. Both the pharmacy and I have made repeated attempts to resolve this, yet after nearly three months, the issue remains unresolved. Again, this review is not a complaint about the doctors or the pharmacy. My complaint is specifically about the front desk, the way patients are treated, the difficulty reaching the office, the inconsistent information being provided, and the failure to properly resolve an ongoing medication-related issue. I am posting this review as my final attempt to bring this situation to the attention of office management and have it resolved without further escalation. If the medication issue remains unresolved, unfortunately my next step will be to document the complete history of my attempts to obtain assistance and submit a formal complaint to the appropriate regulatory and oversight authorities. I sincerely hope management takes a serious look at how the front desk is being operated. Excellent doctors should not receive negative reviews because of unprofessional administrative service at the front desk.

SHE RETIRED: I am finally getting around to write a review in Yelp about Dr. sevilla after 2…read moreyears. I had been a patient of Dr. Sevilla for 14 years. She was one of the top two doctors I've ever had. Carrying, never in a hurry, friendly. Visiting her is was like visiting a friend and we always started my visit with a hug. I had scheduled an appointment with her for back in March 2023, when I called because I had forgotten the time, I was told that Dr. Sevilla retired and the office was closing. That was unexpected and makes me wonder what happened, since her retiring would not be a logical reason for closing the office since there were other doctors. It makes me wonder if she actually retired or that is what employees were told to say. Regardless I will miss her.

This review is for front desk, billing, and overall experience…read more I went to Dr. Sevilla last year for blood work which came back clean. I knew something was off since I had suspicions of a hormone-related autoimmune disease for a while now. Another doctor performed the same procedure and told me I had to be off my medication (which affects hormone levels) for the blood work to have proper results. Dr. Sevilla knew I was on this medication when I had the blood work done, so I was just confused how this oversight could've happened as according to my other doctor this is standard for the blood work up I was receiving. The other doctor was able to diagnose me properly and I do in fact have a hormone-related autoimmune disease. For the last year, Vanowen Medical Associates has been berating me with letters in the email to pay my small co-pay. I tried paying them in multiple ways, including sending them payment information via the mail (which they requested) and through my insurance. I eventually get a letter saying that I am being sent to collections due to no payment being received! After multiple attempts to pay them over months, I was livid. I tried calling their billing number and office listed on the letter, only to be lead to a recorded voice message with no human on the other end. I had to resort to calling my insurance company, who confirmed they accepted my payment, making me even angrier. The office finally returned my phone call and told me I was paid up and the letter was sent prior to them receiving the payment. I asked them if they could confirm which payment was taken, either via mail or insurance as I wanted to inform them of my attempts and let them know they may have an issue with whoever in the office is responsible for recording sent payments. The receptionist could not have been more snippy and passive aggressive, cutting me off and acting as if them possibly wrecking my credit score due to their incompetence was somehow an inconvenience to her. Overall, just avoid this place. Even though Dr. Sevilla was super nice, the oversight of a diagnosis as well as the negligent billing and rude front desk people are the perfect storm of a nightmare.

He didn't rush me at all -- we spent a full 45+ minutes together, and he made sure I understood everything. He listened carefully to my concerns, asked thoughtful follow-up questions, and never made me feel like I was just another appointment on the schedule. That level of patience and presence is so rare these days. What impressed me most was how up-to-date he is. He referenced the latest research and studies (some from just the past year), explained the science in plain English, and showed me why certain approaches are now preferred over older ones. It was obvious he's someone who stays current with medical advancements rather than practicing on autopilot. I left feeling genuinely informed and empowered, not confused or dismissed. On top of that, he's incredibly caring and compassionate. My son had been gaining weight rapidly for no reason and nothing has changed in his diet or lifestyle. When I saw the Dr and brought my lab work showing high insulin the Dr seemed un interested and said my son could go to a "fat camp" where kids exercise. Now I'm not an over weight person myself and I don't get offended by people suggesting a person lose weight but my son was 11 and gaining for no reason we could discern and rapidly. This comment to me suggested he was a lazy Dr who didn't think it was an issue for an 11 year old male child to have insulin levels 3 times the norm and not at all want to explore further as to WHY? Long story short I went to UCLA hospital and it turns out my son had a serious medical condition and endocrine issue. How the heck does this Dr have glowing reviews? He didn't even want to explore further. Medicine is called practicing medicine for a reason. You practice it and you explore why a patient is presenting with HIGH insulin as a child. You don't tell a parent to take the kid to fat camp. It wasn't diabetes and even if it was the fact that he didn't want to even draw blood work to see is shocking. Now years later I'm sharing my review because I think Santa Clarita deserves better and so do kids.

I knew when I first consulted him that I had to move on to DE IVF and that I wanted to transfer only ONE embryo when the time came (due to a fibroid which I'd been told would cause crowding and due to seeing how high risk twin pregnancies are from friends who'd had twins.). Unlike another doctor at the same clinic (who's no longer there) who told me, "Oh no. We couldn't transfer only one embryo because that might lower our success rates!" Dr. B. told me he agreed with my decision and would abide by it. Then during an attempt at doing DE IVF he screened our donor in person and called me with his impressions before and during her cycle, making himself accessible in ways no other RE had ever done. He also had a donor cycle coordinator at that time named Arlene who was AMAZING. (I'm sad that she no longer works at his clinic but hope the new coordinator is as great as Arlene was.)
