I chose this gym because it's right around the corner from me, and have been a member for a year and a half. Unfortunately, I can't whole-heartedly recommend it. First, it's very expensive - more than twice the cost of John Reed. Also, hours are limited (only 10am - 8pm on weekends), the women's shower area needs renovation (I can't tell if just old or dirty so I never shower there), the weight equipment is perfectly serviceable but old, 'functional training' equipment is not available outside of class: kettle bells/TRX - there are no medicine balls or bands.
The above shortcomings could be made up for if they offered amazing customer service, but unfortunately that is not the case. Though the desk staff are friendly, if you have to ask management for anything (a pause due to injury, taking over a friend's unwanted contract, and unexpected extra fee...) do not expect to be treated like a valued customer. Management is cold, unyielding, and has even been outright rude (talking over me, raised voice, walking away).
The main offering here is that your membership includes time with a trainer who will discuss your goals, design a workout program for you and teach you how to do the exercises. Every couple of months you can have another session to update the program. The trainers are OK, great for beginners but not very detailed if you already have a good amount of experience.
I go to this gym because it's so close, the training is a nice bonus but not a deciding factor in my membership, and so I wish that they cared more for their customers and made the overall experience feel more 'premium' to justify the high price. read more
