Hands down - worst course I have ever played at. Overview: ~No Range ~Inexpensive compared to other places in NOVA (still not worth it) ~Carts are nicely arranged and get the key at check-in ~Starter is there to tell you when to proceed to Tee 1 ~No pin positions ~It was cart path only that day, but what was the point based on the conditions of the course Course: ~Tee boxes were poorly maintained ~Greens were atrocious - so bumpy and patchy that it doesn't matter if you line up your put ~Fairways were in terrible condition ~Bunkers were in terrible condition/hard as a rock ~Weeds were everywhere on the fairway, rough, even the green Terrible.

Greendale is a very challeging 18 hole course off Telegraph Road. The fairways tend to be narrow and you can spend a lot of time searching for your ball in the woods. the rough can be very rough. They have a small pro shop and a nice grill. If you are playing 18 i recommend a cart. 18 holes at good rate.

Bottom line: If you are a casual golf player who plays 5-10 times a year and you don't want to break the bank, this course is for you. It's not spectacular, but for the price, it's what you have to expect. Pros: - It's rather cheaper to play 18 here for this area. - Short course so it's walkable. I saw more people walking than riding. - Staff was friendly. Cons: - The greens and tee boxes have giant patches of dirt. I played in September so it's getting later in the season but still. It's unacceptable. - No drainage. If it rained recently then you will be playing in swamp like conditions. My wedge cut through the fairway like a knife in butter. So bad that they had to close hole 14 (par 3) when I played, although they did give a 25% discount due to that. - The "sand traps" did not have fresh sand. More like a dirt patch. - The rough was very long. If you didn't hit the fairway off your drive you had a 50/50 chance of finding your ball because it just hides under the long grass. - Pace of play was slow. Because so many people walk here, it took forever to play and nobody was enforcing it.

Dead Grass on some greens with aeration.

Walked 18 September 9th for $27 plus a push cart for $5. Haven't played this course in over 10 years. It's in a low laying area which makes some area wet most of the time. Greens were aerated recently with no top dressing sands and extremely slow. some greens had dead patches which makes putting difficult. if your looking to just play and walk with no regards of course conditions , then greendale GC is right for you. Employees seems nice.

14th Green. If you could even call it a green.

If you want to play here only play the front nine. It is literal night and day between the front and back nine. I understand this is a muni course, and you get what you pay for, but I still expect an average general upkeep, which was to be desired here. The tee boxes were not cut and were mostly crab grass, thus when trying to tee the ball a little lower, you were swinging like you were in light rough. The greens were either a hit or miss. Many of them were in decent condition, but the further on the track you went the worse they got. For example, see the 13th green photo where the hole wasn't even in the ground. Even for a municipal course, not worth the $52 for 18 and a cart. Better off paying $60-$70 and getting a good outing at Twin Lakes or Jefferson District. Be sure to read the "not recommend" reviews because those are the most accurate reviews of this place.

Beautiful day on the course

It would be nice to have a practice area to warm up, they don't, and I drive to Hill Top driving range about two miles away to hit balls before I play.

I hadn't ever been before and I really enjoyed my visit. You get a private room to yourself which is very nice. You can bring up to 4 people total for the $28. You can bring two extra people for $15 extra. I haven't scheduled the lesson yet but I'll report back about that.

We did not know what to expect and left with a great workout, fun experience, and my wife, 4 year old daughter, and I all interested in golf. First off, the staff was amazing! Marquis has been golfing since he was 6 and gave us some quick tips that immediately improved our swing. They also had great cocktails and food and we loved having a private room where we could play music, watch the game, and play and learn at our own pace. They have multiple games including a driving range, courses, and a game where you aim at monsters (which our daughter really enjoyed). The staff provided great recommendations on each game. We immediately signed up for a subscription- the prices were really reasonable, hours are accommodating, and we envision going on our own to practice, bringing our daughter (she's been asking to go back), or going with friends. This would also be a lot of fun for corporate events or team building even if you don't golf and we are looking forward to bringing our teams in the near future. Fun, great for many audiences, and an amazing resource for improving your game!

The sand traps are rock hard and many of them have exposed concrete/asphalt showing. The golf carts are old and a safety hazard with how much the elevation changes. Trash cans were overflowing on the course and many of the water stations didn't even have a cooler in them. And yes that is a picture of a raccoon by the 2nd green. So far, I have been able to walk on in early afternoon to twilight times without having to make a reservation at any time during the week and weekend. I can't speak if this is true for the morning times. The pace of play is a little slow at times given all levels of handicaps teeing off at times without a Starter present. Nonetheless, the current conditions compared to a few years ago have improved and is superb for the price. Enjoy for those that have access to the base and course!

In my experience, the first bay has a lot of trouble reading club data even after applying the stickers to the face. As soon as I went down in loft from my wedges, that data was never picked up. In the third bay, however, it read that data around 80% of the time with stickers. The third bay is closer to the window, so I think the natural light helps the camera pick up the clubhead better. The second bay is the one that James has been using for club fitting and lessons. They use Trackman there. The 4th bay is also GC3 as well, but I haven't hit in that spot yet. Golf balls are tour balls, but are a little beat up. I suggest bringing in your own. The screen you hit into is very close to the mat, so expect golf balls to fly back and out into the shop regularly. James put down a pool noodle training aid behind my bay to help, but know it'll happen. The shop also has a short putting green with SAM Putt Lab to help you get fit. There's a small sitting area and some golf equipment as well. Definitely a place I will regularly visit when I can't get outside!
