This is not an easy thing to do and Gabriel and Loomis gave us the best possible experience. ( I recently lost a brother in another state, and how we were treated by Loomis was far above what we experienced in Pennsylvania.). it is a comfort knowing that such a caring business is here to help persons at one of the most difficult times of their lives.

When you find yourself in need of cremation services, I would highly recommend Loomis Family…read more My husband was in hospice and passed away from COVID over in The Villages. The social worker gave me a list of funeral service vendors in that area. I called around and the prices and approaches were all over the place. A high quote with a discount for being in hospice? Ugh. I looked on Yelp and saw a recommendation by a friend that she thought Loomis was a professional and thoughtful organization. I could not have asked for better service and fee prices. - They were helpful and explained their fee and costs for death certificates over the phone. When my husband later died in the middle of the night, they responded quickly - Cremation fees were much less than those quoted by others on the list furnished by hospice. - They did not try to up sell, they even suggested I might want to complete the request via the web and conveniently pay at the same time if I did not feel like driving over there. - I am having a funeral service in another state. They were so kind and respectful on the phone and in person. - They provided the paperwork and documents I will need to have my husband interred in another state. - They had a catalog of urns and the prices were very reasonable and I know this as I had shopped around. Their location in Apopka seems small but most of the staff I spoke to were young and caring. In a time when I was stressed this was the easiest decision.

This is the historic cemetery in Mount Dora. It is owned by the city. In 1866, Mr. and Mrs. J.P…read more Donnelly set aside 2 1/2 acres to be used as Forest Cemetery. It was given to the Forest Cemetery Association in 1919. Then councilwoman Esther Wyatt Bishop, urged that the name should be changed because there were already 28 other cities with a Forest Cemetery. In 1953 the name was changed to the more unique Pine Forest in honor of the trees at this cemetery. The cemetery has since been enlarged to about 20 acres. Graves lie under the pine trees dripping in Spanish moss. The first burial here was a settler named Mrs. I.M. Mabbette in 1881 but her exact grave has been lost. One of the saddest known stories in the cemetery is that of the Warburton family from England. Their grave is the first to have received a marker in the cemetery and it lies to the right of the cemetery in the oldest section. The parents and two children were riding in a wagon on a trip to Eustis when they wanted to stop to water their horse. Their approach to Fiddler's Pond was too steep and the whole family drown on May 21, 1882. Recently some family members of the people buried here have become upset by the removal of the historic concrete coping that separates family plots. The cemetery took them out to make it easier to trim the ground cover. The Mount Dora Historical Society would like to see the coping preserved because without it some grave markers might be lost. If you are interested in history this cemetery is a nice place to walk around and pay respects to the settlers of Mount Dora.
