Hence, why I have never written a review to give a zero rating! As of September of 2025, I have been a patient of Celena Fine. Once again, my current provider up and left without notice and I was never notified! I was actually in desperate need of her care as I was in the ICU and the hospital staff had been trying to reach her. Upon discharge I had to make a follow up appt with a primary and I was scheduled with Celena. BEST CRACKER JACK BOX PRICE EVER!! Not only is MCHW the luckiest it's ever been to have found Celena, but so am I and I'm sure I can say this for all of her patients that now have been transferred to her. Plus, the office has a new aura and ambiance as well! They seem HAPPY with smiles and it has to be hearing Celena laugh all day! Her laugh is so contagious that I wish she could prescribe that because 30 min of hearing it, my pain is gone and my mood has shifted to reach the stars! Without going into a storybook of my health, Celena has taken time to get to know me as her patient and my super complicated health journey with such attention to detail that no other PCP has ever done for me. I've never felt rushed whether my appt is in person or over the phone and for the first time I can trust a Physician knowing that it's ok to let my guard down and hand over my worries because Celena literally has made me feel and see she has my best interest and loyalty in the palm of her hands. Doctors who would ask me for medical advice (I work in the field), cancel 8 months worth of appointments which they made me schedule to get a medication I've been on for 18 years, then told me I can't sue them bc of this or that, leadership that couldn't enact meaningful change, phone numbers that wouldn't work, telephone staff that would never pass the patient's message along to the provider, and at one point, a dismissive medical director who was probably a great administrator, but utterly lacking in bedside manner. No wonder the turnover was so high and the place was a mess. BUT, the one shining beacon in the medical department, the reason that I stayed, and I'm sure at least part of the reason the practice has made a massive turnaround to the positive, is PA Celina Fine. She is one of the best providers I've ever had, and I have had an army of them. Celina is kind, professional, clearly passionate about medicine as a practice and an art, and she always listens to the patient and makes them (or me, at least), feel heard, understood, cared for, and safe. And a lot of times, I feel that's as important and as positively influential on a patient's health and well being than a particular diagnosis. People want to be heard and taken seriously. It's as important to one's well being as anything else, imo. I never feel like she's trying to push me out the door, if she doesn't know something, she researches it. She comes in already having looked at your chart (that's how it should be, yet never is), she always follows through and follows up, she's invested, kind, and is great at connecting to the patients. She's also a patient teacher (when trainees have been with her in the room). Her bedside manner always puts a smile on my face, and I have severe medication resistant depression, so that's really saying something. She's the sort of provider you hope walks into your room, and I'm so happy she stayed on. Things started to improve after she started and I bet that's not a coincidence. Other positive things: Cassandra, who answers the phones, is an absolute delight. I always feel lucky when I get her on the phone. She gets things done, does what she says she will, is very professional, and simply has great, positive energy. Maya at the front desk (I think she's new) is also wonderful. Very personable, thorough, and kind. Something that has always been great, even when the medical side of things was a hot mess, was their behavioral health dept. Jamiyah is incredible. I absolutely love interacting with her. I bet if she worked in the medical dept, she would've fixed that place up years ago. I don't know what she gets paid, but that woman deserves a raise all day, every day. Emilia is a wonderful psychiatrist. You can tell she's so invested in your well being. She's kind, earnest, and very smart! My other doctors are often impressed with her knowledge of the newest pharmaceuticals as well as her extremely perceptive plans of action for her patient (me). I also simply enjoy talking to her. If I could talk to her every morning, I'd probably not need as many antidepressants! She's so encouraging and supportive, and if she were my guardian, I'd probably need a lot less therapy.... which brings me to Julie Morris, who is one of the best therapists I've ever had in my 15 years of therapy. She is simply awesome. She honestly makes life just a little more worthwhile. I'm very lucky to have found her. So, if anyone makes it this far: Celina Fine - 6 out of 5 stars Julie and Emilia - 6 out of 5 stars Cassandra, Jamiyah, Maya - 5.5 stars (though Jamiyah is prob 7/5 all on her own) General practice - now a solid 4 and climbing its way from a traumatic 0.5.

I am nervous about writing a negative review. Dr. Mark Bazalgette is my proctologist. I went into…read moresee him to have an internal hemorrhoid removed. My hemorrhoid or Hemorrhoids have been bleeding off and on for the last six months. I had an appointment set with another proctologist thru Sutter Health for a full colonoscopy in Emeryville. Dr. Bazalgette looked a little perturbed when I told him this but he said to keep the appointment with Dr. Shah. So I did. I've noticed that not every doctor sees eye to eye. Just like one plumber will mock another plumbers work. So anyways, back to my first visit with Dr. Bazalgette. The consultation lasted about 15 minutes or less. I very much wanted this hemorrhoid out. He was very willing to work with me and when I asked about his experience he told me that he had been doing at least one hemorrhoid removal per day for the past 30-35 years. Honestly, I was kind of impressed. But also surprised there are not more reviews on Yelp. So anyways, Dr. Bazalgette tells me he wants to take a look and does with a mini colonoscopy kit his assistant prepared. There was too much fecal matter in my anus and I told him that I had brought a couple enemas with me because I wasn't sure if I should use them before coming in. He told me to use the bathroom downstairs near the elevators and come back in 30-40 minutes and I performed two enemas then returned. Now the first and second appointment were in the same day. I remember feeling satisfied that this was going to be checked out so quickly and efficiently. I called him a cowboy meaning to me just get it done. I like people like that. In the first appointment he told me he was only going to check and there would be no operating. Just inspecting. So after I had cleaned my anus out and he was able to do the mini colonoscopy he first filled my anal cavity with a gas which was a little uncomfortable but necessary to see what's going on. Inquisitive and curious person that I am I asked if I could take photos of my hemorrhoid(s) which I tried to. He said he was fine with it. He was searching for it but I wasn't sure if he actually found it. Intuitively, I didn't think he wanted me to see it but I took photos of these purple vein looking things. I'll post the photo here. He told me before that these operations don't need to be numbed. I found having this camera/Lasso in my anus to be quite uncomfortable like I felt like I was going to poop. And it got to the point where it hurt at which point he continued a little further and Bammo there was a piece of the hemorrhoid he said and he told me he would do a biopsy on it or look at it later under the microscope. I did feel a little violated only in that he told me there wouldn't be any operation on this visit but I did appreciate that he had somehow caught a piece of it. I couldn't see what it looked like. This violation that i felt was minor. I just felt like wait a minute, didn't he just tell me earlier that he wasn't going to do what he just did. But whatever. I was impressed that he was taking the time to take me so seriously and the cowboy thing impressed me. Before I went home he told me that he had a cancellation on October 19th at 2pm and that he could remove the hemorrhoid. My other appointment with Dr. Shah wouldn't be until November 9th which was a month or more away, so as you can probably guess I was very excited and relieved someone had cancelled. Before I left the office his nurse or assistant gave me pre-treatment instructions and then late In preparation for my surgery on October 19, 2021 I took the magnesium citrate the night before. And only ate white/clear foods which was clam chowder. I didn't eat after midnight as instructed. On the 19th I cleaned my anus by administering two enemas on myself. Two because the first one didn't work good enough. I had reserved an Uber ride for 10 am which didn't show and this sales rep at Quality inn in Petaluma ended up giving me a ride since my driver was already 35 minutes late. Mrs. Wong you were a Godsend. I offered her gas money but she declined. She drove me to Marin Health in Greenbrae. Before I was administered spinal anesthesia, Dr. Bazalgette apologized to me for taking so long getting back to me with the results from the biopsy. I had figured he didn't call because it was benign. But he first explained to me what he called the good news and the bad news. Bad news is that you have cancer. The good news is that you have anal cancer and it's treatable. He said at least you don't have rectal cancer which he would have to remove my entire rectum and insert a colostomy bag into my side in order to remove rectal cancer. What a relief that i only have anal cancer which he explained is similar looking to skin cancer and 100% treatable with radiation and chemotherapy. I then went onto the spinal anesthesia. All the staff there were great

MHMC has become the worst, passive aggressive employees who love to whine and complain and take out their frustrations on patients, the Marin Specialty Surgery Center has non of that underlying tension. The employees here treated me with kindness, care and welcomed me . They were all caring, kind and appeared to like their work, completely the opposite of MHMC, and thank god!!! The staff was genuine , expressing a high work ethic and were warm, from the moment I walked in to the minute I left. THUS IS WHAT HEALTHCARE LOOKS AND FEELS LIKE!!! Thanks to every single employee, from the front office staff, to the nurses, the OR employees and my surgeon, they all kept me informed of what to expect, what was going on, and anomaly's going on, so refreshing to be considered and be welcomed into the conversation involving my healthcare!! Super impressed. At MHMC, employees acted like patients were a burden, not here. Where were you all ten years ago?!?! I'm thrilled to know there is an alternative to MHMC and their crappy employees with their equally crappy attitudes towards patients. Through the high quality of treatment I experienced here, my faith that there are still people in healthcare who express kindness,compassion, a high standard of work ethics. 100% recommendation!!!

I have to give a shout out to the Medical Center of Marin due to the consistently excellent care…read moreprovided. My 12 yr old son and I recently relocated back to the Bay Area and have been utilizing MCOM as our first point of contact while we get enrolled in the UCSF system. We almost always see Vila Phoulavan PA-C whose extreme attention to detail and spot-on diagnostic skills have led to very accurate assessments, referrals to appropriate providers and generally a sense that our time was well spent as Vila always takes as much time as needed to ensure a productive visit. If one cares to read further, my recent experience with Vila and MCOM will illustrate WHY I have such high regard and took the time to post here. I sustained a fluke injury to my elbow/bursa. I quickly drove over to MCOM as the elbow swelled up immediately (looked like I had a baseball attached to it). Although it was obvious due to the swelling that it was a bursa trauma, Vila resisted my request to aspirate the elbow until " we can get an Xray and know exactly what we are dealing with". Unfortunately, MCOM's Xray technician had left for the day, so Vila recommended icing the elbow and returning in the a.m. for the Xray. I was not able to adjust my a.m. schedule so I decided to drive over to Mill Valley UCSF affiliated urgent care in the Strawberry Center as they did have an Xray technician available. Upon treating the injury, the Strawbery Urgent Care Nurse decided that an Xray was not necessary and proceeded to aspirate and wrap the elbow. During aspiration, the Nurse commented that its "odd" as she expected bursa fluid to come out, however, only blood came out. She did mention that there could be a very slight chance of the wound/ arm becoming septic and if so - Head Straight to the ER! 7 hours later, upon waking with a septic hand which was the size of a small baseball mitt, I immediately went to Marin General ER where they jacked me up on antibiotics to avoid sepsis. The ER doc said the wound should have not been aspirated as sepsis often results and it's best to leave "bursa injuries or bursitis" as was the diagnosis alone. I told both the Strawberry Urgent care nurse and the Marin general ER doc that MCOM had recommended Xrays, but yet both practitioners were adamant that this was not necessary. I went home in pain and called Marin General ER the next day to ask if I should come back in as the forearm had turned blue/bruised and filled with fluids. I was told that this is normal and as long as the arm/hand/elbow was not red or feeling hot to the touch then I just need to ride it out as Bursa injuries take a long time (1 - 2 months) to heal. I nursed the elbow, pain and swelling along for 7 weeks until landing back at MCOM to address an issue with my son. At that time I asked Vila for an Xray on the elbow as it didn't appear to be healing correctly. Sure enough, the results came back - ACUTE FRACTURE OF THE MEDIAL ASPECT OF THE RADIAL HEAD. I'm extremely frustrated at how this played out ... as one tends to use this joint/ body part often! My next trip will be to an orthopedic doc who specializes in elbows. I will likely require surgery to fix an issue that never would have transpired if the other practitioners would have gone with Vila's original assessment/advice to get a FRICKING Xray ... which wouldn't seem to be an unusual request in my book. I'll leave it up to the reader to decide who dispensed the best advice in this scenario.

I was a patient of Dr. Landfield's for years, and my experience with this office has deteriorated…read moreto the point that I'm done. The office charges a $1,000 annual administrative/concierge fee, yet I have not seen Dr. Landfield in roughly a year. During that time, the office didn't even manage to reschedule my annual physical after it needed to be moved. I eventually started obtaining my prescription elsewhere because dealing with refills through this office had become unnecessarily difficult and unreliable. At this point, all I really wanted from Dr. Landfield was a competent annual physical. I told the office very plainly that I could not justify paying $1,000 every year for what effectively amounts to one physical. I even offered a perfectly reasonable alternative: put me on the calendar for a physical this December, let me pay for the visit through the normal process, and we could go from there. Their response was remarkably straightforward: Dr. Landfield will not see me unless I pay the $1,000 fee. That tells me everything I need to know about the priorities of this practice. What makes the fee particularly difficult to swallow is that my experience with the office has hardly resembled a premium or concierge-level service. I've dealt with administrative mistakes, including something as basic as repeatedly getting my name wrong, problems and delays with prescriptions, and failure to follow through on scheduling. The one thing the office does seem remarkably consistent about is collecting the $1,000 fee. A concierge fee might be defensible if it bought exceptional accessibility, attentive follow-up, flawless administration, or some other meaningful level of service beyond ordinary primary care. That was not my experience. After years as a patient, I was essentially given a choice: pay $1,000 before the doctor will see me for my annual physical, or find another primary care physician. So I'll find another physician. If you are considering this practice, I would strongly recommend asking exactly what the $1,000 annual fee buys you and deciding whether the actual level of service justifies it. In my experience, it absolutely did not.
