Another update to clarify just one thing...I am still in pain following this crummy breast lump surgery. And yes, I am still seeking medical help for further diagnosis And pain issues. The errors in that review and other information (hints) posted by the person makes me suspicious of that review as a whole. Repeat...interesting. We all have our own unique experiences and have the right to write our reviews accordingly. My experiences with this doctor are real; not perceived. I welcome anybody to walk in my shoes for a day. I will happily update this when I learn more via further testing that I have to endure. FYI, folks... you may not give a darn about any medical reviews if you're in good health today. Yet, at some point in our lives, I think most of us endure health issues that need addressing at some point. Another FYI I have learned though extensive research that there are surgeons who take a much lesser invasive approach to surgery than this doctor. And another FYI If your doctor refers you to a specialist, take the referral with a grain Of salt and do your own homework. There may be reasons doctors refer patients to particular doctors. Reasons which have nothing to do with putting the patient's interests at the utmost of priority. Do your homework for your own good... you need to be your own advocate.

He took his time to explain to my and my husband the procedure; he was very thorough on his examination. He was concerned with my pre-op labs and called me before the surgery to have them repeat it to make sure everything was fine. After the surgery he and his office staff have been wonderful in answering all my questions. I felt I have been treated with outmost respect and most of all like part of a family. So far I have had two colonoscopies and both with Dr. Coughlin and I highly recommend Dr. Coughlin…read more Both of these screenings went extremely well. My first visit to Dr. Coughlin was in 2004 as a referral from my PCP. My second screening was in 2012. Dr. Coughlin took the time to listen to me and my concerns along with explaining how the procedure is done and the expected results. My first screening required the old way of fasting and cleansing for two days. The current method is a one day process now. This is the worst part of the procedure, however if you are prepared and knowledgeable about the cleansing liquid and tricks to make it not so bad, the entire process is good. Still no fun with the cleansing liquid and no eating for 24 hours. Both of my colonoscopies went well and Dr. Coughlin explained the results and gave me a detailed report of his findings. Having been in the ultrasound medical field for 11 years, I have thought about doing the procedure without sedation just to see how all the equipment is used during the procedure. In talking to Dr. Coughlin and others in the field about doing the procedure without sedation, I understand why this is not a common practice. A colonsocopy is not something anyone looks forward to, however when you have an experienced and knowledgeable physician like Dr. Coughlin it makes something that we wish we didn't have to do into something that we do not dread.

He aggressively treated me and within three visits and two procedures (which other Dr's thought would be unnecessary-- cause I'm so young) later had successfully diagnosed me with a VERY rare disease. He appears to be a bit over the hill, but he really does care and really will either figure out what is wrong-- or will make sure he can send you to someone who will. I actually chose a couple of doctors before but ended up canceling both times. Finally, after more searching, I found Dr. Kristina Hobson in Los Gatos. To be honest, when I first walked into her office, I was already looking for an excuse to cancel again. But once I spoke with her, I was really impressed with her knowledge and the way she explained everything, so I decided to keep my appointment. Today was my procedure at Silicon Valley Surgery Center, and I had such a great experience. The facility was clean, calm, and very nice. Every single person I interacted with was wonderful. From the front desk to Barbara, who helped review my paperwork everyone was kind and welcoming. My first nurse, Kay, was incredibly nice, knowledgeable, and professional. When she went on break, Nicole took over she was also amazing. I'm not a fan of needles at all, but she did my IV so gently and with so much care. Then Kat, the third nurse, took me to the procedure room she was kind, calm, and very professional. Dr. Michael Block, the anesthesiologist, was excellent. He actually texted me the night before to ask if I wanted to review everything ahead of time or on the day of the procedure, which I really appreciated. We exchanged a few messages, and then he spoke with me again before the procedure and explained everything clearly. He was confident, knowledgeable, and very reassuring. In the procedure room, I fell asleep within seconds and woke up quickly afterward feeling great. Within about 30 minutes, I felt completely fine. I was even able to take calls and respond to emails. And now, about Dr. Hobson ,she is truly a 10 out of 10. Honestly, the entire experience was 10 out of 10. From the office to the surgery center, every single nurse and staff member was exceptional. I'm a very detail-oriented and perfectionist person because of my job, so I don't say this lightly.
