Hmm... I had been intending to rate this place with four stars. My wife and I have had some tasty meals here, but yesterday... not so much. Go figure, it was the time we brought some friends to enjoy this healthier alternative to fast dining. I have to repeat, we've enjoyed our food here in the past - so I don't know if it was someone new in the kitchen or what, but the food was pretty much tasteless! Two of our party ordered the Veggie Pad Thai. The noodles were seriously underdone. (Mind you, I like "al dente," but this was ridiculous.) On friend soldiered on, but the other had to send it back and ask for something else. She said her (replacement) Poke de Salmón was tasty. (The wait staff did not offer to comp the replacement - we were charged for the food that was returned.) One other of our party had the "Arroz Rojo Eco KimChi" which I have enjoyed in the past. He said it was "alright," but clearly not impressive. My own "Poke de Atún" was sub-par, compared to how it has been served to me before. So... all in all, it was a truly disappointing dining adventure. I feel like I owe my friends another meal out, just because this one was... lousy. 'Nuf said. I came here three days in a row for lunch while I was attending a conference across the street at the CCIB, so I want to set the record straight and offer a different perspective from that of the other reviewer. Yes, they have a weird setup for ordering food, but isn't Starbucks daunting the first time too if you've never been there before? (think of the choice of sizes, shots, add-ons, etc.). So Green Vita tried to emulate the US system of maximum choice for the consumer in a market that is not 100% sure how to order yet. In terms of the food, I appreciated the variety of vegetarian and vegan options that included lentil and goat cheese salad, quinoa salad, and baba ganoush (though it appears as "eggplant hummus" on their menu). The "salteados" were pretty good. I had the vegetable green curry on brown rice and the butternut squash orzo, the latter being the best of the two, imho. I also tried the grilled fish (lubina a la gallega) and it came with potatoes and it was very tasty, too. I didn't try any of their desserts but their coffee game was on point. What I didn't like was that none of the meals I ate (three in total, all under the "menú del día") were very flavorful and I had to add copious amounts of salt. However, this might be a conscious choice on the part of the cooks since I went to another place for dinner and had the same issue (not enough salt/not enough flavors). So all in all, I say, go for it. If you're a foreigner visiting, keep in mind that this place is meant to maximize your choice and that just as you ordering coffee elsewhere feels natural to you, so could Green Vita once you figure out how their menu works. read more

Green Vita is one of the many places to eat on the top of the CC Diagonal Mar on Avinguda Diagonal in Barcelona, with the street being probably one of the main streets in Barcelona, stretching for miles and as I recall even having two AC and two Hilton hotels, the size can't be ignored. Green Vita is more of a health food place, but a restaurant rather than a shop, they tried to stress the importance of vegetables and eating healthy in their overall decor and advertising around the store. It did stand out for such a reason. I called in here, hoping to pick up gluten free. The queuing system was really badly handled, their was no staff, and it reminded me even in terms of decor and the whole situation at a local garden centre to me, when at home in Rochdale, which certainly isn't a feel Green Vita would want to have. Their was a decent amount of seating, and it seemed to be set out less like a restaurant and more like a cafe as mentioned, where you queue up and get food and drink or order it etc. Their is free wifi but you need a password, there didn't seem to be anything around the store so if you forgot to connect, you might need to queue up for it, which would be hard, or it would be made even harder if you have such a language barrier, like I did only vacationing in Barcelona from my native United Kingdom. Overall, poor gluten free offerings, servings and even pricings and selection as a whole, really doesn't suit its location in a shopping mall, and I can't help but think a bigger brand with a better and meatier menu would be so much better, although I understand the concept I can't understand the concept for the location and based on what I've discussed here I sadly feel Green Vita deserves a single one star. read more

Healthy options near the convention center. Came here two days in a row for lunch. I loved the salmon dish with rice. Also tried the chicken with mango quinoa and the quinoa was fantastic. They have a 10 euro lunch menu but we got the larger meal options to add more protein (each plate priced around 15 euros). The salmon and chicken both had generous portions, close to 6 ounces for each. read more
