Nice park with a lake, walking trail around it, play area for kids. Lots of places to sit.

Pretty & clean park. I really like this park because of how open it is. You can walk around the lake, find a nice shade in the grass under a tree, fish, enjoy the playground and more. I'm visiting Payson for the day and I'm glad I stopped here. I came here with my dogs and love how dog friendly it is. Always remember to be nice to the geese!

Beautiful park! Nice places to sit and relax. I'm saw some people fishing. It was nice to sit on a bench and relax.

Beautiful park in the heart of Payson good food nearby and lots of greenery! We saw a big bull elk and lots of birds!

Love this park in the heart of Payson it's big and has everything you'd expect from a well kept park. It's always clean and the lake is very nice.

What a beautiful park and definite favorite of locals and visitors. A lot of history with a museum on site, a few small lakes and plenty of walk ways to exercise, Roseville's etc and so many people enjoying the fishing. Multiple types of fish to catch. The park is well maintained and can easily spend hours if not all day here. So nice to see families enjoying the outdoors and no one on their phones.

The walk around the lake was clear of duck poop TODAY! This is an awesome little park. Yes the Zane Gray replica cabin and small history museums are here but this fishing lake is only 0.6 mile around so it's a nice leg stretch if you're just driving thru town. See picture of the BLUE HERON very close to the fisherman? The guy said the other day three big elk came and laid down under a tree and the bald eagle landed in the tree above them...talk about a photo op. We saw the bald eagle up in a tree and watched him swoop down and fish See the pic below where the eagle is just past the guy fishing. You'll see the eagles legs down for a catch There are also two smaller fishing lakes across the street. Yes of course they stock it. We didn't have time to take the guided tours today but will be back on Wednesday because THEY ARE CLOSED TUESDAYS. We will pay $4 per person which includes BOTH the 25 minute Zane Gray Cabin GUIDED tour and the 45 minute GUIDED tour of the other more historical museum. I will update this review after the tours. UPDATE. WE WENT TO SEE THE CABIN TOUR and it's cute but the real attraction here unless you are a Zane Gray fan is the lake! I am NOT a museum person unless the tours ARE guided! And these are small museums and we actually have read a Zane Gray novel although we are really hooked on Louis Lamour westerns. If you don't know which western to start with we suggest CONAGER. It's got all the great western stuff and a little romance on the side. My husband reads me westerns every night in bed! And YES we love the romance! If you have KIDS you MUST bring them to see the LITTLE OLD WOOD CABIN with dirt floor in the grass. See pics below. It is FREE! And PUSH THE BUTTON to listen to the story LOVE IT HERE!

This park is so nice! Nice lake, cute playground and spacious grassy areas to walk your dogs. There are geese and ducks that are really cute. The park is covered in all kinds of beautiful trees and wildlife. There are benches that were donated and a wonderful memorial for the troops throughout all of American history wars. A special tribute to each soldier who died and also the lost or missing in war. Very thoughtful and patriotic. The restrooms were actually very impressive. I walked in on a snowy day and was pleasantly surprised with a well lit, clean and warm facility. It is obvious they take pride here at Green Valley Park in Payson Arizona :)

Beautiful park in Payson! Whether you're into fishing or not, this park is perfect and is well maintained. It features a large walking path with areas you can fish and there's a jungle gym area as well for kids. The pathways are free of duck poop and we're really clean. The grass is gorgeous and was bright green. Definitely a great place to take a stroll!

We stopped here to take a walk and were surprised that there wasn't a Yelp page for this park. I've included a few photos for this review; it rained the day before we visited so the playground was flooded. Overall it is a nice park, tons of ducks for the kids to chase, bathroom facilities and dog poop collection stations. There is also a bike rack, plenty of garbage cans, a few ramadas though, I didn't see any BBQ grills at any of them. There is a large green field to run or play games in and there is also a performing arts stage. You can fish here and parking isn't bad. Just across from the stage is the Payson Veterans Memorial. I will return when visiting Payson in the future.

A wonderful place to walk and relax. Kids love the little hill when it snows. Payson is lucky to have such a nice park.

The Tonto National Forest is a large territory of preserved lands northeast of Phoenix ideally…read moresuited for recreation. There is a lifetime of official and unofficial trails in the Forest. Most of them are in the desert, with little shade and oppressive heat, but if you live in Arizona that probably doesn't stop you. Based on its size and preservation, there are stunning vistas of the Forest even a short drive from the Phoenix area. Describing it as a "forest" is a deceptive term. It is more of a National Desert. Acknowledging that point does not make it a less impressive place to explore. Arguably, the panoramic views are even more impressive in the desert because there are no trees blocking your line of sight. One of the more surprising aspects of the forest is how few Arizona citizens take advantage of the recreation opportunities. Phoenix is a megacity, but if drive 30 minutes away, you can have a 10 mile trail all to yourself. This means either Phoenix citizens are not into the outdoors or there are enough trails for everyone to spread out. One trail in particular that my brother, wife, and I were able to explore by ourselves was the Ballantine Trail. It's halfway between Mesa and Payson on highway 87. The first couple of miles suffered significant burn damage a year earlier. This was quite disappointing at first. As we continued hiking, we were able to appreciate the signs of transition from burned and blackened landscape to fresh grass and bush rejuvenation. The return hike along the side of the mountain, rather than over the top, yielded one of the most stunning views of grass and saguaro cacti that I have seen.

I was in town in Show Low staying at my friend's place and decided to take my dog to Tonto National…read moreForest (specifically the two sixty trail area) so we could enjoy the weekend day. It was an hour ride, but I think it was so worth it! My dog really enjoyed it! What I loved was that the facility and trail were clean and well maintained. There was a restroom station and a marker/direction for a subtrail at the entrance from a parking lot. The trail itself was clear and not crowded at all. There were just 2 other people we met during a weekday late morning during our visit for an hour there. My dog really enjoyed roaming around the trail and we loved that we didn't see any trash at all. While the trail was a bit unleveled, the path was clear! Bonus too that it was a free hike/walk for us, including parking! The only minus was that there was no cell phone signal (T-mobile/Mint Mobile), so I was very wary that we might get lost if we didn't keep track of ourselves well enough..so we mostly stayed on the trail and didn't go in too far. But...it is a wonderful place to enjoy the nature for sure!
