My 9 year old niece had her first art class here on Saturday. Because of our circumstances I had to…read morestay the two hours for the class. Although I stayed in the back I eavesdropped often to see how my niece was doing. Jocelynn is amazing with her young students. She engages with them in a way that they all seem to really enjoy; she jokes, she tells stories, she listens to them. In the middle of class she gives them a small break and does an art history lesson. I think it's wonderful that students get to see works of great artists. They talk about and discuss the work of the artist being discussed while eating a snack. She sells art supplies in her studio at a fraction of the price you'd get at the store, and she didn't push me to buy. As a matter of fact I really wanted to buy supplies and she told me to hold off until my niece was sure she wanted to stick with it and was comfortable. My niece had a good experience. Although she's an amazing self-taught artist Jocelynn taught her the correct way to use pencils and how that she should draw what she sees not what's in her head. There was a little bit of a back and forth with my niece insisting that she was doing it the right way but I'm telling you Jocelynn has the patience of Job. And I'm sure she's used to dealing with artists who are stuck in their ways (even if they are only 9 years old). But all in all she enjoyed the class. Jocelynn gave her individual attention (I don't know how but all of the students received one on one time with her). Watching and listening to Jocelynn and my niece in class confirmed that getting her into an art class is the right decision because it has to be easier to develop good habits as an artist now than later.

My Studio LLC, 605 White Horse Pike, Haddon Twp, NJ is the studio of Jocelynn Tice. Jocelynn is a…read moregifted pastel artist and instructor and an award-winning artist. I've had the privilege of studying with Jocelynn for 4 years and have learned a great deal from her. She is an experienced oil artist and sculptor and uses her many talents to instruct students in a variety of mediums in every class. I began instruction with Jocelynn as an adult learner, kids out of the house, and my only experience was drawing with a No. 2 pencil. Jocelynn has taught me how to see, how to draw, to work with values, with dark and light. She has taught me color theory, and how to use it in a composition. I have learned to work in charcoal and chalk, oils, and pastel pencils. Jocelynn is very reasonably priced, making classes very accessible and enabling me to afford to take two and sometimes three two-hour class per week. My Studio LLC has been a real find for me! Please treat yourself to a visit to Jocelynn's artist and school web pages. Jocelynn's work is available to view and student work is available on the school site. Also, check out her FB page under MyStudioLLC.

Although you wouldn't know from the outside, the space is amazing-colorful, bright, inviting and lends itself to the creative mind. There are multiple large rooms that can each accommodate maybe 15? people (due to the equipment) with sinks for cleaning everything off at the end. The instructor started off a little dry but ended up really engaging everyone and the entire group seemed to have a great time. We had a one hour session and, after getting setup with an apron and a clay working station, we got to choose what basic item we wanted to make, got guidance throughout the process, decorated our creations and decided on the color for the pros to add on after the fact. Items are fired/cured and picked up in several weeks. It was a great, chill way to spend a weekend morning and I'm looking forward to bringing my treasure home in a few weeks.

At my third class here, some thoughts. 1) Weekday FAR better than weekends which they overbook by a lot. 2) They never start on time. Sorry, if I can get here on time ready to go, everyone else can as well. 3) With a Groupon, very reasonably priced. I'd do plenty more if they adhered to their advertised times.
