these guys should be ashamed of themselves!!
on august 18, 2021, as i was leaving my home in south windsor to go to work, i noticed some tree trimmers trimming a neighbour's tree across the street. it turned out the company was green tree ontario and they have been contracted by the city of windsor to trim all city trees over several years. they provide no notice to homeowners that they are coming, so most people are unprepared!!
that day, i didn't realize they were trimming all city trees fronting the homes on our street (including mine) or i would have stayed until they were done. when i got home i was just devastated as they had destroyed the beautiful canopy on my mature norway maple that had taken some 60 years to grow!! they cut back two (2) healthy, main limbs that were around one foot in diameter as well as several smaller limbs that did not need to be cut either!! (see photos.) they also ridiculously over- trimmed my neighbour's large maple two doors over!!
i called the city of windsor's forestry department, and a few days later and a supervisor came by to survey the damage. he could see the mess they had made and he tried to console me by saying that some of it would grow back. he said he would speak to the owner but unfortunately the damage was already done and you cannot fix it!! unnecessarily cutting back major limbs also significantly shortens the life of a tree since it will eventually form a cavity allowing disease to enter the main trunks!!
beautiful trees also add significant value to your property, but not when they are ruined by over trimming!!
do not hire these guys since they do not know (or care) what they are doing!! the city of windsor needs to find a reputable tree trimming contactor, asap, before these guys destroy many more beautiful trees in our city!! read more
