I'm always looking for a golf course that's fun and interesting, and Green Tree Golf Club definitely delivered. Each hole offered enough variety to keep things engaging from start to finish. I was pleasantly surprised by how many trees there are--especially for a high desert course. They provide great shade along the fairways... unless you're striping it straight down the middle, in which case you're on your own in the sun (no sympathy here!). Playing in early April, the day started off cool but warmed up quickly--pretty ideal conditions overall. The staff really stood out as well. Gary took the time to walk me through the course map and point out key features when I mentioned I was worried about getting lost, and Brandie was incredibly friendly when I checked out after my round. I wrapped up the day with a personal pepperoni pizza and a Gatorade in the clubhouse, which was the perfect way to end things. Overall, this was a great experience, and I'm already looking forward to my next round here. read more

I have to say this was one of the worst-conditioned golf courses I've played. The maintenance was almost non-existent. The greens were surrounded by mushy, overwatered areas, yet the fairways were dried out, patchy, and full of weeds. The rough was overgrown and muddy, making it feel more like a neglected field than a golf course. Basic amenities were also ignored--bathrooms were locked with no keys available. On top of that, the overall appearance of the course was terrible, to the point of being distracting. The most shocking moment? Watching stray dogs procreating right on the fairway. This course desperately needs attention and better management. Until then, I would not recommend it. "This course makes you grateful for every other golf course you've ever played. I've had generally good experiences at Green Tree Golf Club in the past, but my repeated interactions with the golf pro, Gary, have consistently been unpleasant. He often comes across as smug, dismissive, and belittling. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was by far the worst. I booked a tee time for Sunday, February 1st at 10:30 a.m. for myself and a friend, and there were many tee times still available that morning. We requested an additional golf cart since our wives were with us. Gary told us there were not enough carts available. I then offered to purchase an additional tee time so our wives could play as well and we could receive another cart, but he still refused, again claiming there were no carts. When I asked if another golfer booking one of the available tee times would be given a cart, he said he would refuse them as well and force them to walk, which did not seem truthful or reasonable. The situation escalated when Gary became loud and argumentative. I ultimately canceled my tee time and requested a refund. Gary told me he could not issue one. When I said I would be reporting the incident and leaving a review, he took his wallet out and threw money at me. Even then, the amount he returned was short of what I was owed. This entire interaction was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. What should have been a simple customer service request turned into a hostile experience. As long as Gary remains in this position, I believe patrons will continue to receive poor service. This was easily the worst experience I've ever had at a golf club, and I will not be returning. read more

I have been playing golf for 25+ years and I can honestly say that this is the poorest managed course I have ever played. Players constantly jump on the coarse wherever they feel like it and slow down the already ridiculously slow pace. the locals just walk out on the course and then right up the fairway to get to wherever it is they are going and the course condition itsself is about a 6 out of 10. I will never waste my time trying to play this. purse again. I have been here 4 times and have only been able to finish my round once. shame on you Victorville! read more

To all the people whining that the course conditions are rough, what did you expect from a desert muni? If you come to green tree expecting Augusta conditions then you are a fool. This place offers great service and a great course to play on considering the location and funding. They are literally in the process of remodeling and are making the pro shop nicer. Yes because of the remodel there's a few things that could be better but if you want to play a solid game of golf then this is the spot. The fairways are not bad. The greens are actually nice. The carts work fine, I've never had an issue. Yes because it's running through a nice neighbor hood sometimes you will see the occasional kid running around or a couple going in a walk but who wouldn't utilize the giant field in the back for a nice walk. Sometimes there will be a puppy or two on the 9th and 11th hole but they are friendly doggos just getting some sun. They don't bother. What I'm getting at is that this place is great for what it is. If you want to play and have fun and you're not expecting 5 star course conditions then you will enjoy your time here. The bad reviews are obviously from prissy little Whiny people. I went out playing 18 hole today and there was no cart for me. The front desk was nice to me that I 've got a 18 hole walk for free. Up to hole 11, I was tired yet I was charged by 3 stray dogs: one brown dog and 2 huskies. The brown dog was drooling and chasing me. I was terrified running around my golf bag for nearly 10 minutes. Then they stopped and walked away after all. I called the clubhouse afterwards and was told they were aware of stray dogs and saying the dogs are friendly. Friendly my fucking ass. I was running for my life. This needs to change or someone will get hurt badly. read more

Booked a pre-paid tee time for a Sunday. One of our players was a junior golfer. The website does not give you an option for a junior player rate. Full rate was paid online to reserve the time. I called the course to explain the situation and they said no problem that they would revise the reservation and honor the junior rate. We arrived at the course on Sunday and was promptly told all online reservations are final and they would not honor the junior rate. We still wound up playing after the poor management and no customer service. The course was slow when we were harrased by the Marshall to play faster even though no one had caught up to us. Rude guy for sure. Forgot to mention the restaurant was closed due to the health department shutting them down. Stay away from this course until management cares about their customers. The course was also the worst shape I have seen in 20 years. Bad management, golf course, etc. I have been playing this course for years and now will never be back. read more

I live on the golf course and have so much damage to my cars, property and we can not sit outside in our backyard without a ball flying or hitting us. The golfers have no respect for anyone's property and I've watched them climb my neighbors fence just to get a ball and damaged the fence. On the weekends most of these golfers are drunk before 10 am causing all kinds of nuisance. Anytime we tell the golf club they do nothing about it. Appalling Golf Course Appalling dishonesty by the manager. After disscussing our concerns and being offered 2 free rounds on a golf course that is simply a patch of dry grass and dirt we were eventually offered and guaranteed a refund. He claimed not to be available till today so we waited as a courtesy . We went over and he flat refused any refund claiming "to much time had passed" after him asking us to wait until today. This man is a conman, he and his front store staff are incredibly dishonest and the Golf Course is a disgrace for $50 per person it truly is disgusting. Please read the review below and whatever you do, if you do not want to be fleeced and conned do not play this patch of dirt he claims is a Golf course YOU WILL BE BITTERLY DISAPPOINTED! It has been Quite a while since I have encountered such a dishonest person, blaming absolutely everyone but himself . Absolutely appalling Condition, zero maintenance on any of the fairways, huge patches of hard dirt everywhere , debris all over, dogs roaming around , children playing on the fairways . If you were to use your irons on this course they WILL get damaged. Both of the Golf Carts we were supplied with broke down, we had to push one off the road we were crossing from fairway to fairway. A really disappointing experience for the astonishingly overpriced $50 each for the round. There are no bathrooms! One portapotti for everyone!!! But worse of all was when we got back to club shop and raised our concerns and asked for just a partial refund they refused point blank defending the course as "one of the best in the high desert" delusional doesn't get near to the actual condition of the course. The cherry on this particular cake was the response to us highlighting the difference between the photos the use , even on the score cards "well those aren't actually photos of this course USED AS A DEFENCE !!! I am absolutely perplexed that there was no attempt to listen or assist or hear our concerns, they were shut down instantly. Don't play this course , you will be appalled and disappointed and that is a guarantee. Ok, I have to first compliment the staff here. The staff have been extremely kind and accommodating each time we have come in to play. Especially since we have a young son with special needs, whom we bring with us every time we come here to play. They are unaware to that fact but treat us all with the utmost respect and welcome us. We started coming here in Sept 2015 and have frequented this establishment quite a bit. The typical busy times apply, mid afternoon, weekends, special days etc...we haven't had any issues with any disruptive golf patrons who are impatient, if we are slow we just let others go ahead. We try to practice appropriate golf etiquette. The local area is very busy getting to this golf course, (right off the I15 exit/entrance) so if you are scheduled for a tee time try to come early so you are not bombarded by the outside traffic. Parking is ample, although if you are trying to park in front it may be already taken as there is only a few parking spaces. But, like most golf courses there is a drop off circle if you prefer to drop your clubs off. There is a restaurant next to the golf course so there's a lot of foot traffic/patrons parking due to that but nothing too much of an inconvenience. The prices are very affordable if you are trying to get a quick 9/18 holes. And, there are specials for both military and seniors (there may be other discounts that I am unaware of). If you are looking to book a tee time you can either do so by calling, going online or just walking in. Usually, they are able to get you in for a tee time if you come in. On their website you can register and see the specials/coupons. Recently, I was emailed a free round of green tees along with golf cart as a birthday gift from them. This was especially surprising and when I went in to use my birthday gift they didn't give me any hassles whatsoever. When you enter the office it's small with not a large variety of items. But, that wasn't a big deal to us. They also sell refreshments (water, soda, snacks etc) if you are interested. Ok, the good stuff. Hmm..we have been to quite a number of golf courses in a few other states (mostly on the east coast/midwest). And, I have to agree with some of the yelpers that the greens on the fairways are sort of...well..Dead. LoL.It's only a few holes, like hole 8 definitely needs help. But, for us no biggie we are not sticklers. It is no surprise to us given the area---dry desert...and not to mention it's California, uhm a drought state! This place as well as other smaller golf courses have to be conscious of water use, which we are completely understanding of. Trust me we have been to some really awful courses that barely had any green grass just dirt. Anyways, for the price we pay we don't complain. Now, I am not a big fan of where each whole is situated because I feel they are built too narrow for my personal liking--but you may not mind at all. All the holes are built around residential homes, so there is your beautiful scenery, the decorative sometimes not pleasing to the eyes back yards. lol. Overall, our own personal experience has been a positive one. We do value affordability when golfing that we feel is the biggest perk for this place, because heck it's expensive enough paying for $1000s of dollars in clubs, but we value an honest/fair establishment even more. I have to admit I was a little nervous reading a few reviews and went yesterday with low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised. The golf shop area is definitely new and it looks like (eventually) there will be a bar/grill open also. Ladies in pro shop were very pleasant and were happy that we had selected this course. Tee times were wide open so we stepped right up and hit after paying. I could not believe how nice the greens were. They were perfect. Probably some of the best greens I have ever putted on. As a result the guy I played with sunk three 25 footers and crushed me in skins but that is a different story. I was all over the place off the tee. If you keep it in fairway this is a really nice challenging and fun course to play. On the approach to the greens there was several 'apron' layers and around the greens it was in great shape. Traps were ok. I'm sure they can't do much with the conditions as a few were quite rocky. Yes the surrounding houses seem run down and there is not much that can be done about that. However, I got the impression that the new ownership cares and seems to really be trying to turn this into an excellent place to play. If you are out of the fairway then you are screwed and hitting from hard desert crap all day long. If you keep it simple and straight it can be a lot of fun to play the course. Excellent place to practice short game and putting. There is one par 5 I think that was up high and we enjoyed that hole the most. We will definitely be back next time in the area. Paid $46 for 18. Usually where I play it is $99 to $160 on weekends so that was a pleasant surprise. Best part was two of us cruised through 18 in 3 hours 20 mins. We ran into a slow group around 14th hole ahead of us but flew through front nine. Suggestions: Keep a marshal circling to push the slower groups as we did run into some really slow beginners that did not seem to want to let us play through. Also keep the marshal cruising through the back nine as there were some people that did not belong there. Also as soon as the bar/grill area can open I think it will change the whole vibe. Several people walked in when we were done and just wanted to have drinks/lunch but it was closed. A little music, cold beer, drinks and nachos would go along way to the overall appeal. Well what can I say this place is extremely close to home and I love to golf. I really enjoyed this golf course under the old management, also they had great rates and awesome people skills. About 2 weeks ago I went to golf at Green Tree golf course for the second time under new management. I met with the manager Mike and he was extremely rude. I asked him a question and he was very short with me and answered with an attitude. Even though this golf course is close to home I will drive those 15 miles to ashwood golf course and give them my money with a smile. read more

Played here for the first time a couple weeks ago , enjoyed my round & enjoyed the course. The course condition was Pretty good for August, in the desert , and considering it hasn't rained in months. Fairways where nice and green. The greens where in great shape. Long course , pretty straight with wide fairways. A couple of slight dogleg holes . No water & no fairway bunkers . Houses line the entire course , but sit off the fairways quite a bit. Guys in the shop and bar were very nice & accommodating. NOTE : There is no driving range , so forget about warming up. Just grip it & rip it ! For the price , I'll definitely play at Green Tree again . read more

Wow! This course is in an amazing condition. The greens are the best shape I have seen them in over the 12 years I have lived and played in the HD. For the money it is the best value around. I play quite often down the hill where golf courses are getting well over $50 to play a lousy course and average playing time is 6 plus hours especially during the weekends. Why waste your money going down the hill for over priced green fees? The staff at GT are friendly and respectful. Visit the Victorville area twice a year, once in the Spring, then in the Fall. On this trip, stayed in Victorville and decided to would give GT a try. Had read the bad Yelp reviews but heard the course was under new management. Those reviews are outdated; for the price, you won't find a better course. Aside from being convenient, as I could only golf later in the day, found the greens and fairways were very well kept and challenging. The greens may had been recently sanded because they did not have the dried out dimples I see so often at munis [prima-donas repair your divots!!] And, while the course winds through a residential area, I didn't feel confined; there was plenty of relief from the rough to the backyards. The prices were competitive and I especially appreciate senior rates starting at 60 rather than 65 at the NoCal courses I play. So, a shout out to the staff for their friendliness and course maintenance. Good luck turning around the bad rep of the recent past. read more
