Green Thumb cleaned up my flower beds that had weeds waist high. They also trimmed and mulched. They brought my flower beds back to life. Wonderful service. Nicest guys. Jacob and Steve listened to all my thoughts and did all I asked. I also learned a lot from them to help me in my gardening. My yard looks beautiful again. Thank you!!! read more

someone is always there with help from all the knowledge they possess. I can always depend on them over the big box stores.

Wide variety of plants and the staff is very helpful and attentive. Prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend

I think I have found my new favorite nursery! It's a large place with plenty of parking, just off of Sheldon Road. I was very impressed by the wide variety of plants they had - both full sun and shade plants. I love that they carry Proven Winners, and could not resist buying a gorgeous purple hibiscus that had huge flowers. I also bought a few basic plants like a pretty yellow crown of thorns and some pink flowering number. Multiple workers were in the area, and anytime I needed to know the name of something, or what type of climate a plant preferred, someone was nearby to offer help. I do wish they did a better job of pricing their plants; I hated having to ask the cost of any plant I was interested in. They carry their own bags of potting soil which was super convenient, plus cost less than store brands, so I came home with one of those also. They had a great selection of pots and this would be the perfect spot to find a gift plant and pot for someone. read more

I went here to buy new plants for my house. They have an amazing selection, it was so hard to not buy everything there. The staff is super knowledgeable and friendly. They know everything about plants, ask any question and they know the answer. They recommended plants for any type of situation. We we're there for their 70th anniversary this weekend, they had a live band and free food for customers. We even were entered in to a raffle for our purchase. Highly highly recommend them for all your plant needs, plus it's important to support local businesses! read more

We LOVE Green Thumb Nursery! Recommended to us by friends as a great, local place w friendly and helpful staff and a nice variety of plants, mulch and whatever you need! We brought in pics and they helped us choose some nice plants for our flower-box. Our neighbors went all and had them do their full front yard landscaping and it looks terrific! We are fans and love supporting this locally owned gem! read more

I was there today and bought a special unique potted plant for my wife for her birthday. I can't remember the name of the young lady who helped me and showed me around the nursery, but she was very knowledgeable and very helpful. Everybody there was very attentive. I wasn't there long to explore, but noticed they have a wonderful selection of pots. I will definitely be back and if I ever have budget for some landscape design service, they will be the first place I call. read more

Great selection of plants and gardening must haves like soil, amendments, etc. I appreciated the overall well cared for plants and grounds, which speaks to the time and effort they put into their work. They even had a selection of veggie starts for fall, perfect! Think they should have had a bigger veggie starts selection but there's the feedback for them. Lots of house plants as well, some in the back had seen better days and were a bit over priced imo. My magic answer lays in the fact I've been coming here for years, moreso when I lived in the area but even now at much further away I still came back :) Do yes, they continue to earn my business! read more

I frequent a few nurseries in the Tampa area. For some reason, even this one is the closest to my home - I would pass by it most days and not even think about going in. Well, we popped in for the first time in December last year to grab a Christmas tree, and the service was just outstanding. I knew we had to come back in the spring to see what they had to offer for the garden. This year, I really missed my window of planting from seed due to vacation and illness and all sorts of other things. I was SO grateful to grab some of their plant starts. I just put them in two weeks ago, and I've already grabbed 4 fully grown banana peppers and I just spotted a tomato growing this week. Before that, I grabbed some flowers for our front garden, and everything has done really well. Their flowers are in much better condition than another local nursery, and the service is FAR, FAR better. Everyone we've encountered here has been incredibly friendly and knowledgeable if we have any questions. This is my go-to nursery now for all my garden needs! read more

We had been customers for decades. Not any more. The place has changed for the worse. We had Scheduled an on site consultation for landscape overhaul. Spent more than an hour with "Steve" who made all kinds of interesting proposals and promises as to what they could do for us. He promised we would receive our proposal in a few days because we were anxious to get going before hotter weather hit. One week passed. No proposal but a promise to get it in days. No proposal again. We called every week for 5 weeks and continued to be promised the proposal was "on the way". I finally suggested that if they couldn't do the work, just tell us. First we got the "sorry, personal problems," then "sorry we are no longer taking any more business". After 6 weeks of waiting! What is wrong with people? Don't promise you'll do work if you're not going to do the work! You screw around with other peoples lives!!! Do not trust this company. Their word means zero. read more

Incredibly helpful when you know nothing about gardening. A neighbor goes to Green Thumb and said they have an awesome email newsletter where they periodically send you information about what you should be doing with your lawn. I signed up and read it when it comes in. When I got an HOA notice about weeds in our lawn - which I was totally aware of and had been meaning to do something about, but it just kept falling on my priority list - I immediately thought about Green Thumb. I hopped in my car and drove over on a Saturday. My first impression was wow they have everything. There are tons of plants outside, I saw mulch, and inside there are a million fertilizers/weed killers/anything you need for plants. I literally had just stepped out of my car and was looking around when a young lady bounced up and asked if I needed any help. I certainly did! I showed her pictures of the weeds along with some dead grass spots and asked her what to do. She's the newest of the employees so she had to consult with some of the more veteran ones, but I was super impressed by her eagerness to help me. I would definitely hire her! The man who ended up giving me information gave me all the information. He basically walked me through step by step to make sure I wouldn't screw this up. On top of that, he didn't try to upsell me at all! He had me go with a cheaper option and said if that didn't work then come back and buy the next step. He could have told me to buy the whole store and I would have believed him so I appreciate that. I will be coming back for all my gardening needs. They have everything so no need to look anywhere else. read more

Love my monthly visits and seeing their "just ins" on IG. They are very knowledgeable and have years of experience with plant selection and landscape design. They can order anything you need and have a great proven winners area. If you are new to gardening or have never done any landscaping before...this is the best place to start. And yes-their prices are often the same or less than Lowes or Home Depot! read more

They sold me a handful of seeds that were expired and never germinated, so of course I was very disappointed and just because we are in a pandemic doesn't mean they should be lowering the quality of seeds. In fact, the Used by Date / Expiration was a couple yr. ago - RIDICULOUS and I know I wasn't the only person affected because I know they had an entire shelf full of seeds that had gone bad and they chose to sell them...the people that work there are nice though so hence the 1 - 2 star...I would give more stars, but none of the seeds germinated and I bought a couple packets worth $5 - I wanted to support local and knew in my gut I should've gone to Lowe's or Home Depot instead! read more

Green Thumb Nursery - Nurseries & Gardening Near Me - Tampa, Florida

We were referred by several neighbors while asking for recommendations following our addition and remodel for all new landscaping. After going through a year of construction and dealing with contractors the folks at Green Thumb were one of the few highlights. They exceeded our expectations on the execution of what we asked for. They showed up on the day the promised and finished sooner than they committed. Cleaned up and left the property in great shape. The pots, plants, trees and greenery they planted were all in great shape and doing well. A great balance of size, shapes, and colors. They took our input and really ran with it to far exceed our expectations. I couldn't recommend them more and just a great overall group of people to work with. read more

We opted for the higher priced options thinking they would do quality work. Wife provided detailed instructions to salesman who may or may not have given any info to the foreman. I placed flags on every sprinkler. What they did: placed plants in front of sprinklers, placed sod on top of sprinklers and tore out plants we had directed be retained . We complained that night and 5 days later the foreman came back late in the day. ...if we wait long enough customer will do the corrective work? Who knows? I guess we could have let them dig out the sprinkler heads but by then the sod would have been in even worse shape. Half of the sod looked yellow when they laid it down. Over charged labor, materials, and inability to execute quality work. No explanation on why the sales guy did not talk to the job supervisor. No real effort to make it right. read more

Purchased 8 different fruit trees of the 8 one was dead on arrival Was promised a replacement that would be sent next spring, spring arrived, asked if the replacement would be sent, yes it would, well it is now the end of May 2022, no replacement and no more communication. So, no more purchases and lots of negative feedback. Purchased other items from Holland Bulb, Baker seed and others Never again. Poor customer service. read more

Few months ago, I accidently ordered a triangle palm at Green Thumb nursery but it turned out to be a wonderful experience!. Thank you to the guy did extra work to order the plant. Wish I can remember his name. The palm is so perfect! I almost cancelled the palm but when I see it on the phone, I drove a long way to get it. I spoke mainly with Stephanie and I wish I can remember other staff's names. I went there for 2 times and spoke to about 5-7 staff there. The staff are so helpful and shared knowledge with all my questions. Impressive place ! Thank you so so much. read more

This place is wonderful! We stopped by recently really only looking for a balanced fertilizer for our houseplants. We left with 4 new plants for outside, 2 houseplants, fertilizer, and a couple other items. Everyone there was so friendly and so knowledgeable! We were greeted as soon as we stepped out of the car. While we were checking out, they wheeled everything we purchased to the truck and loaded it up for us. We will definitely be back for future gardening needs. read more

I can't say enough good things about Green Thumb Nursery! We recently re-landscaped our front yard. Their employees answered all my questions and spent upwards of 2 hours with me one day choosing plants and flowers that would flourish given lighting and watering conditions at our home. Their options were gorgeous and healthy. Every employee I spoke to was knowledgeable about every single plant. They also gave me advice on planting conditions, anti-shock methods, and watering recommendations. They helped me create a beautiful plan and set aside the specific plants I wanted. On delivery day, they arrived on time and delivered the plants I had chosen. A couple months after planting, all the plants are growing and spreading. I'm so happy with the result! read more
