I chose the red pineapple flavor this time and I loved the sweetness of the strawberry that nicely balances the tart flavor of the pineapple. The banana also adds a more caramel-like aftertaste that's pleasant. You really can't go wrong with whichever flavor combination you pick!

The parking lot was packed on a Sunday morning, but I parked curbside with my hazards on without a problem. I ordered one juice and one smoothie (sorry I didn't get the names), both of which were delicious! The juice was crisp and refreshing, a perfect start to the day. The smoothie was made with hemp milk which made it smooth and very creamy instead of tart like some other smoothie joints. The woman at the counter was very helpful and answered all my questions about the beverages before I placed my order. She even topped my juice off while I waited for her to make the smoothie. Great find!

The previous times I ordered at the same time, 435pm, got my avocado toast and what my daughter ordered in about ten minutes, leaving 15 minutes for us to eat before they closed at 5. Today I ordered the avocado toast and island bowl. A girl in a black sweatshirt with green GAP letters took my order. I was taken aback by how cold she was (if you don't want to work in customer service, don't), but thought maybe she was just having a bad day. My friend ordered two island bowls. Two other customers came in and ordered items a few minutes after us. My friend got her island bowls, which surprised us because I ordered before her. A bit later the other customers got their orders as well. About 20 minutes after I'd ordered, now at 4:55pm, I went to ask about my food. The same girl said, and again the way she spoke landed quite rudely, "Yea, and just so you know we close in 5 minutes." I said, "You're kicking me out before the food's arrived when you're the ones who have given me the food in a long time??" She and a blonde girl protested it was because I ordered avocado toast and that takes "awhile." Didn't take that long the previous two visits when I ordered the exact same food items at the exact same spot. I pointed out that I'd ordered two things, and my friend who ordered the same item got hers 20 minutes before I did. They again reiterated that I ordered avocado toast, which they said delayed the entire thing, and that I would need to leave the store upon receiving my food as they would be closed by then. I've worked in quite a lot of customer service businesses, including food. If the customer ordered before we closed, we never rushed the customer out - the customer ordered while we were opened and deserved good service. Apparently, the employees at Backyard Bowls in La Cumbre don't feel that way. If they don't hold those same values, then there should be a cut off time to order certain items. I didn't want my food to go. By the time I got home to eat my food, the bread was soggy. This Backyard Bowls just lost weekly repeat customers. But with the way they talked to me, they clearly don't care.
