We recently hired Green Smart to redo our sidewalk and front porch, and did a phenomenal job. They were super communicative the whole time, always letting us know what was happening and what was next. The whole thing only took 3-4 days, way faster than we expected. They even re-soiled the areas where they'd pulled up grass near the porch, so the yard didn't look torn up when they left. Really professional crew and would definitely recommend them for concrete work! read more

We couldn't be happier with the flagstone patio repair done by Green Smart. The team arrived exactly when promised and worked efficiently to completely restore our space. Their craftsmanship and attention to detail really stand out--the stones look perfectly aligned and sturdy. They also did an excellent job cleaning up afterward. Fantastic hardscaping work!" read more

For me, I start any home remodeling project with a bit of trepidation. Do I have it all planned out? Did I pick the right contractor? But I was quickly able to relax after choosing Green Smart for my project to install flagstone on my front porch, sidewalk, and patio. The project manager did a great job to ensure I was aware of all the tasks to be done, and kept me informed as work progressed. I would certainly consider Green Smart for any future work at my home. read more

Salvador, Vladimir, and the team did an extraordinary job of pruning and curating our native plant garden. We had planted native plant plugs in our scrubby, grassy backyard over a decade ago. Although the birds and insects loved what we had done, for humans it had become overwhelming, overgrown, and difficult to navigate. Without harming any of the blooming plants, they pared things down to create walking paths throughout the garden, making it possible to enjoy it without tripping. I am overjoyed, and grateful for their work. I'll take photos and post them later. read more

Mr. Contreras at GreenSmart was polite and gave best bid for project. He and his workers came on schedule and fixed the erosion problem to our satisfaction. We are happy to refer the company to others. read more

Very positive experience with Salvador, Vladamir and team. We brought them in for several different projects and they delivered everything we had agreed upon and then some. Some of the projects took some twists and turns as the team started working (e.g. discovering old drain pipes that were blocked up, erosion under stairwells, etc.) that weren't entirely unexpected given that these were areas that hadn't been touched since the house was built 40 years ago. The communication was solid throughout the process as they explained what was discovered, what options were available, and specific pricing for the different options. I will happily go back to Green Smart for future work. read more

Salvador and team were AMAZING. There's a reason Green Smart only has five star reviews. My side yard is so infested with invasive bamboo that, when I bought my house, I didn't realize there was a shed somewhere in the bamboo forest. I cleaned it back, but realized I was overmatched against its continuing encroachment. Salvador came by for a quote on another project, but asked me about the bamboo and I humored him when I said "Sure, you can give me a quote for a treatment, replacing the tarp (that's keeping sun off the shoots), and digging a bamboo trench." Based on the exorbitant quotes I received from others, I figured it couldn't hurt. Salvador's quote came in way less, and I booked him to try to help me with the bamboo problem. His team arrived early and got started right away. They realized after several hours that they'd need a small backhoe to actually remove the roots, so he went out and got one. Dear hearts, they stayed out there trenching with the backhoe until the job was complete (for HOURS). No excuses about needing to come back another time. No abandoning the job because it was more difficult than they initially thought. They just stayed and worked until the job was done. I've never experienced such great customer service from a landscaping team. There was a difference in quote and actual cost, but it wasn't some bait-and-switch; the difference was because they had to go rent a backhoe. I didn't mind the price difference at all because the thing got DONE. And the result was awesome. The bamboo is mostly behaving, though there will be necessary upkeep. 6 stars for Salvador and crew! read more

Salvador and his team assisted me with a clean up of my front and back yard mulch beds. They pulled all the weeds, cleared all the we built up sticks, dirt and other debris, edged the beds, trimmed the plants and shrubs then laid fresh mulch. Unfortunately I didn't take any before photos but the difference is huge! Would highly recommend them for any landscaping projects. read more

Salvador has been really great to work with! We had somewhat of a vision for what we wanted in our backyard and he was able to help us come up with ideas and really bring the whole thing to life! The whole process was quick and done in only a couple of days. He's also followed up with us and visited the property a couple of times since finishing the job to add some additional mulch and check on the trees! Thank you!!! I haven't taken any final product pictures but here were some WIP pictures l took. read more

Salvador and his crew did a great job with our property in DC! We had terrible weed overgrowth around our entire property, and we needed a total landscaping refresh. Salvador did a thorough walkthrough of the job site with us, quickly provided a detailed quote, and had the work done within a matter of days. The crew was prompt, thorough, and left our home looking great! We will use Green Smart for all of our future landscaping projects and unconditionally recommend them. read more

[This review concerns only the weed removal services of Green Smart, LLC: I have not hired the company for any other services.] Green Smart, LLC is one of the best landscaping and lawncare companies in the entire Washington, DC area. Much of Washington, DC was built in swamp and marshland, and huge weeds and invasive plants are everywhere in Southeast DC. Mr. Salvador Contreras and his crew did a great job of clearing large and aggressive weeds from the front and rear yards of my Southeast Washington townhouse. Mr. Contreras and his crew work quickly but take care to get the entire job done and at a reasonable price. The third time I contacted Green Smart, LLC, Mr. Contreras agreed to perform the weed-clearing service with only 24 hours notice - Green Smart, LLC is a real lifesaver! Washington, DC residents take note: Green Smart, LLC uses gasoline-powered leaf blowers which are illegal in the District of Columbia, but Mr. Contreras will forgo use of the leaf blowers if requested. read more

It was a pleasure meeting Salvadore, the owner of Green Smart. He installed a French drain in my back yard to prevent water from gathering around the house and cascading down the basement steps when it rains. He always let me know when he planned on arriving and if he was going to be just ten minutes late, he would text or call and let me know. He was meticulous in his work, making sure everything was done correctly and on schedule. He has a great personality and very easy to talk to. I will definitely use him again and recommend him to anyone who needs a great company and person to handle their landscaping needs. read more

Great service! Salvador was responsive, his crew did a great job, will definitely be using them again in the future.

Salvador is a knowledgable, dependable, and responsive business owner. I hired him to establish plants and a tree for smallish planting areas in my front and back areas in Capitol Hill. I provided him with a plan and he met with me to see the areas, ask questions, and make suggestions. He secured the plants and proposed alternatives where appropriate. He was attentive to what I wanted and was a pleasure to work with. On planting day, he arrived on time with two nice guys who did the plantings. Salvador stayed the entire time to oversee the project. I am very happy with the result. I highly recommend Green Smart. read more

It was a pleasure recently to meet and work with Salvador (AKA Green Smart) to plan the installation of more than 40 trees (which will grow together into a privacy fence). His price was right (among two similar bids out of four), and his explanation of his plan of action was clearest. The job required the removal of tree stumps and other work to prepare the site before and after tree installation. Everything went according to plan. Once winter is over, we will be asking Salvador to help us with some other landscaping projects. read more

My husband and I were looking for a landscaping company. We were lucky enough to come across Green Smart. Salvador came by looked at our yard, took measurements and a couple of days later, responded with a reasonable estimate. Now let me say, our yard looked like an abandoned Amazon Forest. Salvador removed at least 14 huge bushes, replanted two others. Replanted some plants. Cleaned up the yard. (Which was a mess). Trimmed the remaining bushes. Soiled and mulched five huge flower beds. Ordered and created stone walls around the beds. And repaired the lattice around our deck and replaced a couple of boards on our deck. Salvador and his crew were amazing. And they finished the job in three days. Always on time, always polite, always professional. If I could I would give tens. Truly a Godsend. read more
