Their service is top-notch. I was very impressed with the speed and organization of their removing two truckloads of crap I had accumulated. Either way they kept me informed about their timing for our two appointments which was much appreciated. They were on time, organized, fast and reasonably priced.

I called back to schedule my bulk pick up for 7/11 and was told it would cost me $75. I then received two bills in the mail from them. One was for $71 dated July another was for $121 date June. This was clearly a mistake as my services didn't being until July. I had to call this company to clarify at which point I was told it was a billing error and I was only responsible for the $71. My trash pick up is scheduled for Tuesdays. I put my bulk and trash out on Tue 7/12. The bulk was picked up however my trash was not. I again put my trash and recycling out. The recycling was picked up but the trash wasn't. I left a voicemail, no call back. I wrote an email. I called, and called and called and no answer. I would rather put my garbage on my back and walk in to the dump in 100 degree weather than use this company.

Today I found out how great my trash pickup company is. As a "typical" guy that didn't listen to my…read morewife, I didn't pay my trash bill. The bill was cheap enough and I just kept telling my wife yea, yea I will pay it. Guess what... I missed paying it for 2 months and was put on a credit hold. Totally my fault! My wife told me that the trash truck skipped us today. I immediately told her I will look into it (after all I couldn't tell her I was a moron and never paid the bill). I quickly went online and paid the bill because I figured the truck would magically come back, get my trash like it never happened and I could look like a hero to my wife...Wrongo! I called the office and sheepishly told the young lady that I just paid my bill and could you have the truck come back. She said she will call the truck to see if he was still in the area. She called me back and (it was like waiting for the verdict in a murder trial) said he was on the other side of town and could not get back today. She pleasantly told me that if I left my trash out next Tuesday they would get it then(I normally get picked up on Thursdays). In the real world a guy would thank his lucky stars and say thank you... but not this guy. I said that there wouldn't be anyone around to put the trash out and the cover was being held open due to the amount of trash I stuffed in it. She put me on hold and came back in a minute and said someone would be by in a while to get my trash with a pickup truck. To make this long story short, a gentleman showed up a few minutes later and put all my trash in his truck while smiling the whole time. He then had the nerve to wheel my trash bin up the driveway and put it back where it belonged!! What I witnessed today was nothing short of great customer service from a company who had every right to say "we will get it next week" but they went the extra mile to make a customer happy. After my experience I wouldn't switch companies if the new service was free! Thank you.

I believe that many people don't take full advantage of the metal recycling process for a lack of…read moreknowledge. Sure, we all know to put the aluminum cans in the machine at the grocery store to redeem the deposits, but what about other types of metal? It certainly seems abusive to the environment to just throw it in the garbage, but who has the time and talent to make sense of your odd pile of metallic cast-offs? G&S Scrap Metal. It's a very simple process. Drive around to the back of the facility and back your car up against one of the open bay doors. There is a photo associated with this listing that illustrates this part of the building. Someone will see you backing up and will direct you in terms of where exactly to pull in and how far. Most times you will see someone else engaged in this process as you arrive, so just follow the lead of the more seasoned scrappers. Once your in, the associates will help you unload, identify and weigh your scrap. The workers at G&S are very personable which might stand in contrast to the preconceived notions some folks might hold regarding the friendliness of metal recyclers. They are happy to answer your questions about recycling and on more than one occasion they have pointed out certain items amongst my haul that were made of more valuable metal and therefore should be weighed individually to get a better price. Please note that they did so with no prompting on my part and I would have been happy just to lump it all together and take the lowest rate. I recycle for the environment, not for my own personal financial gain, but nonetheless the folks at G & S will insist on giving you a fair deal. When the unloading, identifying and weighing is done, you will see the foreman (Tony as of the last time I was there) who will pay you in cash and give you a receipt. Please note that you will need to show ID to recycle as a deterrent to scrap metal theft. For household scrap loads this is a quick and efficient process. Keep in mind that you are entering a metal recycling facility which means it will be noisy, but besides that it is really no different than bringing your cans back to the grocery store. No load is too big or too small and there is really no excuse for throwing metal in the garbage when these guys will recycle it for you AND pay you a couple of bucks to do it. You won't get rich recycling metal, but it's better than throwing it away. If you have any more specific questions, just give them a call. 5 Star Recommendation

I saw one around the corner from our house early in the morning taking my son to a Cub Scout event. I saw one just a few hundred feet further down that street while commuting to work. I saw one across the street, standing on its rear legs and peering into my neighbors bedroom window. I saw one as we drove to Stop and Shop and saw another one as we headed to a hiking trail. And yes, we've seen them on our property. They loved to knock over our trash can and drag the garbage bags across the lawn, leaving a rather unpleasant clean-up chore the next morning. Once, they salvaged a full bag of Airheads we had thrown away and feasted on them. Bears have gotten into our trash three times -- -but it won't happen any more. Because today, we had our bear proof trash can delivered. It has a locking gizmo on the top that won't open when it gets knocked down, unlike the simple hinged lids on convention trash barrels. It has an instruction panel on the lid, right next to a cool logo of a bear's head. For the last few years we kept our old trash can in the garage where it not only smelled but made it awkward to walk from the cars and the entrance, or vice versa. Now we can leave the trash barrel outside under God's blue sky, where it belongs, and not have to worry about picking up scattered trash and torn garbage from those nocturnal visitors. BTW, Paine's has been our waste removal vendor since we moved here, and we've always been happy with their service.
