Took the virtual class over 2 evenings. Yale was excellent at teaching us the concepts, he repeated key topics and pieces of information that were not just critical to our safety and stressing our responsibilities on the water but key points that would be on the exam. I recently took the Connecticut Boater Safety course with Green Marine Education, Captain Yale Greenman was the instructor and I have to say that I recommend this course and instructor highly. Mr. Greenman has to cover a myriad of subjects in an eight hour class and does so quickly and thoroughly and has a complete grasp of the course using both text and video presentation with reviews after each chapter segment and quiz. I can't think of another way to quickly achieve the goal of getting a boaters license and this course and the good captain hit it out of the park for a minimal charge. Hats off to Green Marine Education, thanks for my license and I will be back for some advanced courses later this year! read more

paid $90 a person to sit in the back of a cold West Marine garage, sitting on hard chairs and write in a book on my lap like it was 1920.. For $90 I expected a way better classroom experience. If I wanted to cheap out I would of paid $20 and went to the rec center. very dissatisfied read more

My family and I took the Connecticut Boater Safety course in June of 2020. I have made numerous phone calls and sent several emails about Green Marine not sending the State of CT the correct information so that I may get my husbands license. It is now January 2021 and still Green Marine has not completed this requirement. When I call they say they need an email, when I email they do no respond. Course was thorough, but follow through and responsible customer service is very poor. If you do business with Green Marine be prepared for the runaround! read more

I took the class this March along with 4 other family members. I found the class to be very informative. Cpt. Yale detailed all aspects of operating a boat and personal watercraft. In addition, the course covered all the significant components that accompany safety on a watercraft and in the water. Be prepared for a long day of intense instruction and a test at the end. In my opinion, although I was able to grasp all the information, I felt that the manner in which the information was presented was a bit "at top speed" for lack of a better term. I understand the there was an abundance of essential information to cover (and that half the class was really only there to get a license for a jet ski) but there was no time to actually absorb the information before we were on to the next topic. I can't say if this is a result of the instructor or the required class time but I think it should be a 2 day course. BE PREPARED, after the five of us passed the test you can go on to the DEEP website to obtain your license, which is an additional $50. My husband mistakenly forgot to include his conservation ID # on one of the pieces of papers and therefore it was not uploaded by Green Marine Education to the DEEP website. When I inquired about it I was required to pay $15 to Green Marine in addition to the $89 I laid out for the class. I recognize the importance of following direction and ensuring all paperwork is completed correctly but $15 to upload a few numbers??? Unnecessary! My advise, don't forget to put your conservation # everywhere unless you don't mind giving someone and extra $15 buck. read more

All and all a pleasurable experience. Definitely learned more about boating in the 1 class then i think iv learned in my life. The 8 hours was a bit trying but considering it's the prerequisite for a license there was little choice. The teacher kept it as interesting as i suppose a day long class could possibly be. I had taken a safe boating class years ago through a different place and seem to remember it being a lot more boring and less informative than this second time around.
