I rememebr it as two so not that long ago. It is reputed to have earned a place in the Guiness Book of Records as being the two most closely situated pubs in the country,prior to their being joined, next to each other. It is in the market square..the hub of the village. Taking the name of the Nags Head, the pub also serves food and beverages. The Nags Head is highly recommended as friendly and welcoming, it is the only pub in the village though, since when it was two pubs. Laceby has retained a traditional village atmosphere. It has managed to remain fairly separated from Grimsby. The centre of the village dates back to the 1800s and the village post office, which opened in 1849 and is due to celebrate its 150th birthday later this year, is said to be one of the oldest in Britain. Laceby has a village school and library and each year a church fete with stalls and other activities is held.

(Children allowed if supervised) food is served until 7pm. A quiz is held weekly on a Monday with free food served whilst answers are checked. Staff are friendly and happy to help. The other is over a little bridge across the river and in though The Haven Mill. The pub is a part of the old mill and has a kind of industrial building feel to it with metal girders and a wooden terrace overlooking the river. Great for sitting out on in summer but the river can be a bit smelly in hot weather. It is L shaped and bands set up in a corner. Good music from Blues and Folk to acoustic nights, open mike and general. A mix of ages in the clientel. Good food to be had here and the drinks are well priced. The staff can be a little rude sometimes though. A great place for atmosphere and good music.

However having lived in the south for a year I almost fell over when I was asked for £1.35 for my pint of real ale last weekend. There is always a good selection of ales. It was quiet and they allowed my friends 16 year old daughter to sit with us while we had a drink. The Yarborough was owned by Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway Company and, eventually, by the LNER. After the Second World War, the British Transport Commission owned it. In 1951, it was bought by a brewery from Hull. In 1960, it was nearly demolished. The hotel, which is a symbol of the town's transition from an 18th-century fishing village into a great Victorian port, is now a listed building. It is one of the town's best-known landmarks . It was purpose-built in the mid 19th century (1851) to serve Grimsby's first railway. The hotel took its name from the second Earl of Yarborough, who was a director of the railway company and lived at nearby Brocklesby. Mostly DJ's but occasionally live music and Rock Nights with bands. The dance floor is not huge and usually packed. It bounces too especially when groups of Goths in New Rocks are jumping around. This is the third floor too. Not designed for the disabled as lots of steep stairs to the free cloakroom and ticket office. Loud, friendly and jumping this is an established place having been there around 25 years or more and just as popular now as it always was. Drinks and cocktails are reasonably priced. Plenty of room to circulate if you are good at pushing. The long bar can involve a wait or misheard orders but not much of a problem. One corner used to be called Goth Corner as it was where they all congregated but now the students seem to have discovered it too. You can often find a seat there or else you will stand. Once upon a time you always stuck to the bar floor but they seem to have solved that problem. A shame as it was famous for it. A good night out but your ears will ring for hours.
