This lack of vetting was catastrophic. She failed to monitor the VA spot-approval and stood by while her referral executed a predatory bait-and-switch--moving us from a 5.9% VA loan to a 6.5% Conventional loan just 72 hours before closing. She clearly believed my family crisis made me desperate enough to fall for anything. Upon first meeting her, the priority was locking me into a 3-month contract and pressuring me in front of seller agents to eliminate my room for negotiation. When we finally found my dream condo, her 'experiment' created a $15,000 funding gap at the final hour and cost us the home during my family's most difficult time. As a professional psychologist, I recognized her warm persona was a mask for a complete lack of competence and a failure to act as a fiduciary. So unprofessional. Coercing people (non-english speaking) to sign documents without fully explaining what it's for. He came to our home and after communicating to him several times that we didn't want to him representing us, he still listed our property the very next day so that he could scam us on $500 for what his Broker referred to as Marketing fees. When all he did was come to our home to meet with us and take a few pics, Incase we are were to make the decision to move forward with him. For weeks we've tried reaching out to him and his broker. It's so unfortunate how they feel it's ok to scam people. When we told Rene that we didn't want to move forward with his services (and this was during the same week he had visited our home and took a few pictures), he stated that it's wasn't fair what we were doing to HIM, because he had already earned his commission. What professional says that? This was even before he listed our property. At this point how can we trust someone like him or his Broker, Devlin Duarte.
