I try my best to recycle and hope that the need isn't just to unload my items but to keep in mind that what many are the usual wants and needs as well and since I was in Kaneohe I though to swing by this Goodwill location which is quite interesting as it's in Kaneohe Shopping Center and is visible right from Kamehameha Hwy and though they do share parking with many other biz parking can get quite crowded but they do have two dedicated parking stalls for drop off making it super easy though I didn't know that and did find parking nearby and as I walked over with my items two staff darted over to grab them from me which very nice and thoughtful. I did have the intent to browse inside as well but was running late and left without doing so but is a great place to find hidden treasures and at such great prices just the greeting alone that I received before I step foot inside gives such a positive vibe and love this location. One…read moreof the many that accepts our donation in the remote location and this Windward City Shopping Center location is quite unique as this super cute hut has electricity and CJ who was set staff here was a delight. Located right in front of Starbucks though hard to miss makes it an easy drop off location so that any of your unused items don't to the landfill as my crutches was only used for a week and wish hardwood floors our vacuum is outdated and are no longer needed. Grateful for places like these along with staff who make it all possible. Thank you!

Cleaning house in the New Year…read more.. It's a good thing to purge and give things that you don't need to others who might need them. When you donate to Goodwill, you can get a receipt for a tax write off and even get a coupon for 20 percent off one full priced item in their store! The Goodwill pod at Windward Mall is gone, so, I had to go to Windward City Shopping Center where there is a wooden structure... Like a little house. When I went, the staff was at lunch. The sign said that they'd be back at 12:30pm. I did a few errands and came back. Wow... What a difference half an hour makes! When I returned, there were so many bags of donations outside the door, on the steps, and lines up in front of the building! The poor guy was surrounded! I started to help him by bringing some of the bags closer to the door. Then, he asked if I was waiting for a receipt. I replied, "Yes!" He asked how many bags I had and wrote my receipt. I continued to help him and he said that he could do the rest. Wow! Well, I feel like I've been rewarded for cleaning my house. Hope to clean more soon! Note: closed on Sundays

Every item does have a memory tied to it and is very difficult to let go though I've been making new memories and have been filtering some items that have no use especially when it's been tucked away for year without knowing it was there I know it was time to downsize. Many items in my opinion is in great condition as is still deeply loved know that it will still be enjoyed by someone else will let it go and love to take it to several drop off location so that it's not taken to the landfill which is actually the saddest thing in my onion. This Salvation Army location in Kailua is quite massive and my favorite place to browse, very organized and with probably one of the largest selection of furniture is found here it's a great place to search for that find. Parking though is the worse as there's just a few stalls and for shoppers that's doing the hard search I found it impossible to wait for a stall as I just double parked after placing my donation in the bin provided right outside I walked in for quick browse but decided not to search too hard to only to return items back home lol! Helping Hands was so much closer to where we live compared to Salvation Army or Goodwill. I like that Helping Hands is truly a nonprofit organization because they don't sell your donated goods to the people who need them. People can come get the goods for free at helping hands. Staff were always very friendly and helpful with unloading my car. They are also very good about giving me the tax write off forms. (Salvation Army has you go to a website to get tax form and I couldn't even create an account successfully on the website. Kept getting error message.) Helping hands drop off times are Monday to Friday from 11 AM to 2 PM so the drop off window is pretty limited.

We left Weinberg after 2 years and started renting a home in Pearl city and eventually we had our finances set well enough that in 2017 we bought our first home together. I was so ashamed to say that I lived here when I was in high school but looking back on it today as a grown man I have to say that IHS was an absolute blessing for me and my family. I was looking for a place where I could donate some of my belongings that could be of better use…read morethan just sitting in my closet and drawers being unused, but I wanted to make sure the donation would go directly to the people in need right here in Hawaii. And specifically, to women and children in need. Surprisingly, I couldn't find many places that fit these specifications till I came across the the Women's & Family Shelter, an emergency shelter from the Institute for Human Services (IHS). IHS is an independent, local 501c3 nonprofit organization that makes sure 100% of all donations stays in Hawaii. Drop off was really simple. The donation drop off area is open Monday thru Friday from 0800-1600. You can park your vehicle temporarily right in front of the garage while you offload your items. On their website, there are 5 different ways you can help: 1. Monetary Donation. A link is provided on the website for your convenience. This can be a one time donation or you can set up a monthly donation. 2. An In-Kind Donation. The donation center is located around the corner of IHS at the garage entrance on Kaamahu Place. On the website " Wish List" you can find a list of what type of items are in need. Items needed are gently used clothing (all types) household toiletries (even makeup), school items, food, baby related items to name a few. Basically just think of what you use and need and eat on a daily basis to give yourself an idea of what you could donate to help another person/child. 3. Planned Giving, such as bequests from an estate plan or will, real estate, personal property, etc. 4. Cooperate and foundation giving, such as scholarships, grants, direct donations, etc. 5. Volunteer. There are many different types of volunteer opportunities, such as tutoring children, kitchen help, serving meals, working at the health clinic, sorting donations, etc. There's an opportunity for everyone to give in whatever form you choose. So instead of letting your drawers, closet, garage, shoe rack, etc get cluttered with unused or unwanted items, why not give it back to the community to help another person or child out? Or if you're not ready to part with your treasures a monetary gift is always appreciated. Donating my belongings not only made my house much tidier, but I was also happy knowing my items had a 2nd life while helping to meet the needs of a person/child right here in Hawaii.

Hanging on to items without purpose has an unnecessary place and though the process of purging at first has been at places that purchased my items which was a great incentive at the start though as they slowly increased their inventory the selective process has making most of my items literally worthless. Now as Green Drop has increased it's location throughout the island making the "drop" has been so easy as this Kailua location is in the lot of the former Pali Lanes so driving up and donating is so much easier...easier than letting those items go lol! I seem to always visit on lunch break and this day was no different but was nice to see that they left out a bit so that I'm still able to drop off my items as it seem to see that many others has done so as well. Thank you to the staff who are there and are so delightful and helpful taking in my items and know that it's going to a great cause. Thank you!

Donation in Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii…read more.. I tried to participate in a "buy back" clothing program where the store will give credit for other clothing that others have "recycled". Unfortunately, none of my items were to their liking, so I found the GreenDrop at the parking lot of the former Pali Lanes. GreenDrop is a national chain that sells their items to Savers and gives the proceeds to worthy charities such as The American Red Cross. I'm already in the GreenDrop system, so I gave Wini my phone number. An emailed receipt was sent to me right away! This is so convenient and reduces paper waste! Wini was the cheerful, helpful worker! She was very friendly and informative! I hope to see her again soon! She made this such a pleasant experience in the cool, beautiful Windward environment!

Donation in Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. Dropping off some excess clothing to The Salvation Army Thrift Store was simple. The donation area is located at the far corner of the property on Sumner Street. The entrance to the Thrift Shop is at the door closest to the entrance to the property. It's on the right side of the driveway. When the friendly worker accepted my donation, he offered to give me a receipt... sure! I'll take a tax write-off! Then, I took a look in the spacious, organized store. The orange tagged items were 50 percent off! Wow! What a deal! However, I had to go to my next errand. I'll be back!

Besides Windward Mall, Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center, and Windward City Shopping Center, customers in Kaneohe can shop and dine at Kaneohe Shopping Center. Currently, the main business here is Times Supermarket. The restaurants are Sikdorak II, Club Komomai, Tea Home, and Kizuna Sushi Bar and Grill. There's also a laundromat, Goodwill Donation Center, H&R Block, Eagle Nails, and Goodyear Auto Service. There's one entrance on Kamehameha Highway and two on Paleka Road. It's probably safer to enter and leave from Paleka Road because Kamehameha Highway can be very busy at times. Kaneohe Shopping Center has four main buildings and has an L-shaped configuration since the Kaneohe Fire Department is on the corner of Kamehameha Highway and Paleka Road. Come support local businesses if you're on the Windward side of the island!
