I've been a Green Drop Garage Car Care member for some time and have had almost entirely positive experiences. I thought about giving 4 stars instead of 5 because one location caught mistakes made by another location in diagnosing problems, but I figure the latter cancels out the former rather than the former dragging it all down. Just because of scheduling, I once took my car into the NW location instead of Central, where I normally go. They said I needed new front brakes but Central said that was a mistake, so I didn't have to pay for unnecessary repairs. Also on the plus side, I was initially told that my rear drum brakes needed to be replaced, but it was instead a minor adjustment. These two things saved me $800 I was prepared to spend. Maybe the NW location meant rear brakes. Either way, the diagnosis showed the mm caliper measurements so I could see for myself what the situation was. I get tires from Les Schwab but Green Drop always updates me on their status, does the rotation, etc. Recently, my low air pressure light came on. This happens when the weather changes but I'd recently hit some potholes on an unimproved road in east county so I thought I might have a slow leak. I took my car in to Les Schwab and the tech there, without inspecting, said my tire sensors were bad and would need to be replaced. Someone led me to believe that might be somewhat expensive, $300-something, but I figured I'd get it done next time I get new tires. Green Drop checked things out and determined that the software just needed to be reset. The fix was included in my Car Care membership so it didn't cost me anything. With Les Schwab being bought out, I may start getting tires through Green Drop too, though I appreciate there are trade-offs and I've generally been happy with LS. There was also a coupon code for a discount recently. I scheduled my preventative maintenance so I could use the code. Green Drop noted that my Car Care discount was better and applied that instead, again saving me money (an extra 5%). As mentioned above re: my brake pads, I like how they include photos and explanations of potential or actual problems they see. Recently, they've noted something about control arm bushings cracking that they'll keep an eye on. I don't know what that means but I now have some information so I can educate myself or ask questions. They have also been very good about helping me to prioritize maintenance based on timing and my budget. I kind of wish they had some sort of pick up and drop off service but I understand COVID19 complicated that kind of thing and Uber/Lyft make it easier for people to make their own arrangements. At least at the NW and Central locations, there are cafes, bars, and restaurants nearby to wait at. read more

Terrible experience! Brought my car in for check engine light + mechanical locks malfunctioning, ended up being upsold from initial quote of $1,100 to $2,300- and they didn't even fix those problems. So I had to come back and pay ANOTHER $300. Not to mention that all of this happened after signing up for their monthly service, which they mistakenly charged me twice for. I only need my mechanic to A) effectively communicate what's going on and B) solve my car problems, both of which were fails at this location. I came in because I suspected that my car was stuck in four-wheel-drive after the storm we recently had. I I had to have my car towed to the garage. After my car was towed to the garage, they reached out and told me that my transfer case was no good. The garage quoted me a bill of about $5000 to fix my car just to start and be able to use it again. Then, an additional $3000 to get it through DEQ with a code. I felt this was a lot of money for a car that wasn't worth that kind of money with the transfer case being gone. I sold my car to a mechanic who works with my type of car for a VERY LOW price because I was told it would need to be fixed to be used. The person who bought my car reached out to let me know that the transfer case was perfectly fine and the car was in fact stuck in four-wheel-drive. He was able to get it out of four-wheel-drive and repair it with about $1500. He was able to get the car working perfectly and passed DEQ. I am extremely frustrated because I sold my car for practically nothing and had to buy a new car. I recently saw the new owner with my car, it's perfectly fine. I have been going to Green Drop exclusively for a long time a member. I was about to bring my new car there and decided, I will not be returning. Since this interaction, I have had multiple mechanics look over previous repairs that have been done that did not need to be done on my vehicle or the price was not what it should've been. read more

Truck had a wiring issue. Brought it in and stated multiple times that I only have $300, so if it's going to be more than that DO NOT PROCEED and to call me with an estimate please. Get a call the next day saying everything's ready. I get down there and the receptionist tells me my total is $1,200. I freaked out and asked to speak to the owner and expressed my issue. He proceeded to tell me they couldn't hold the truck in their parking lot, and if I didn't pay for the service I didnt approve, that he would 'have trouble sleeping at night if he were me'. I regrettably cleaned out my savings and borrowed money from my sister to pay them. Made it home in tears and my truck died again due to wiring issues...they didn't even fix the problem!!!! I then had to sell my truck just to make back the money I wasted:( Do not come here! read more

I've had my car serviced twice by Green Drop Garage and both times I have had excellent service, better than I've had a Lithia Subaru for over a decade. Not only are the technicians knowledgeable and friendly, but the software they use to communicate upcoming necessary fixes is thorough in explanation even for someone like me who doesn't know very much about car diagnostics and fixes. I can't recommend that anyone bring their vehicle here. There have been 3 separate occasions where they lied about my tires being rotated (when they actually weren't). My tires are now worn very uneven and will need an early replacement. They damaged some pmy interior during the last visit and have not replied to the emails regarding the issue. I will never bring another vehicle here and hope that they can learn to provide better service to other customers. ** Very unprofessional response from the business owner. I would highly recommend not going here. I dropped my car off for an oil change brakes and tires. After their initial inspection, they called me and said my brakes are fine but new brake drums are needed, an alignment, and tires. I was suspicious about the quality of my brakes but gave them the benefit of the doubt. They said they had the tires in the shop, and it could get done that day. Quoted $920 for everything with the membership. $21 a month. I said sure, sign me after they explained the details. They didnt include the activation cost of the membership in their spiel which was annoying. After giving them my information, they called back ten minutes later. They asked if I just signed up for a membership again under another name. I said no, they said weird someone named Dwayne signed up with your vin and license plate. I asked for them to look into it and they said they would then never called me back. That same day I get notified by my bank fradulent charges are being made. I try calling back no answer. The next day, they call me and said after further inspection, I do indeed need new brakes, I also I have bad struts and my water hose needs to be replaced and quoted me an additional $1,400. They proceed to tell me my spark plugs and exhaust need to be handled too. But unfortunately they don't have the tires and will need to keep my car another day. I pulled out cash, showed up unannounced demanded my car back and just paid for the oil change as it was the only thing they did. I took my car to two different mechanics and both said water hose, alignment, brake drums, struts, exhaust and spark plugs were all fine. I printed out Green Drops quote and the pictures they took and one mechanic said the struts they had in the quote weren't even the same struts on my car! 1,000% do not go here! You will pay for it if you do. I went to Leschawb and got Tires, Brakes Rotors for $800. ABA Auto in Hillsboro, deep, but highly recommended was the other shop that looked at my car. read more

The diagnostic revealed there was a lot more wrong than I had anticipated but I am very glad that I trusted Dan, the manager and Forrest, the technician to get my old car back with all of the necessary repairs to make it dependable and safe for many more miles. These guys are crooked. if you go to them question everything they are telling you. i went in for an oil change and they said I had over $3000 worth of repairs that had to be done ASAP. They see their job as working out the maximum they can get out of your visit. I was told that I would need to leave the car there for several days while they did all the necessary repairs. Do not sign onto anything until you can get a second opinion. In early 2023 they charged $200 an hour for labor. Ask what they are charging now. Their "Green" marketing ploy is a myth and they will replace parts that don't need replacing . Not much green about that. They have this all you can eat membership "marketing" program which is also antithetical to being a green company. I would just steer clear of them all-together. Charlatans is the best word for this outfit. Do yourself a favor and at least get a second opinion. Don't fall for the pitch that "This needs to be repaired immediately". read more

Green Drop overcharges and under delivers. I really wanted to like them because they're so convenient and I appreciate their eco-friendly practices, but it's just not enough. I recently went to Green Drop for a pre-purchase inspection on a vehicle I was buying off of craigslist. I paid $150 for the inspection (which it passed with flying colors). 10 days later, my check engine light went on. I brought it back to Green Drop and found out that my catalytic converter started going out. Apparently checking the CC's was not part of the inspection I got just days before (I noticed this after the fact) though they did confirm that I had floor mats and my seatbelts worked (...very helpful...). They said the replacement would be $3,100. So... bummer. It's not their problem that I bought a lemon. And I know that catalytic converters are notoriously expensive. But with that price tag, I wanted a second opinion. I took the car to a different mechanic who told me a different story -- that I didn't need all 3 parts of the CC and all 3 oxygen sensors replaced - just needed one part of it. Grand total of $1,200 to get it all taken care of, plus they did a free inspection to get me that quote (free as long as they were the ones who fixed it). I can't recommend Green Drop to anyone. They put a lot of intention into marketing, and not a lot into service. read more

I worked with Mike, who was incredibly helpful as I did research on which new tires to get for my Honda Element. He was thorough, knowledgeable, and really went the extra mile to ensure I had all my questions answered. I am not a car expert and rarely do work on my own vehicle, but I have a general understanding of things that need frequent service, etc... After having my car at Green Drop for the tire install, I feel more educated on the condition of my car than I ever have before. They did a quick check of the car while it was up on the lift and attached photos and descriptions to things that didn't warrant immediate replacement, but would require attention miles down the road. I felt no pressure to purchase any additional services, and I'm truly grateful to have the added knowledge of things to look out for while caring for my car. This one's tough because I'm not given the option of which branch to rate. I've been to two locations. 1 star for one 2 for the other. SE 28th .. 1 star. Want you to drop your car off and pickup later with some B.S. line of their x number of inspection points is why it takes so long. SE 9th 2 stars. Really good on the scheduling but flat out lied to me regarding one of my services. Now that I'm reflecting on it.. probably should be 1 star for both. Fell for their 'green' logo. The reason I write this review is because they just saved me 200$ by being honest when they didn't have to. I had already given consent to fix a potential issue that would have cost 500$ but when I came to pick the car up, the bill was less than 200$. The service mechanic found the issue to be much simpler which saved me in both parts and labor. Greendrop could have totally just fixed the problem and still charged me the original price without my knowing. But they were honest. They may have lost an hour in labor wages but now they have my full trust. I won't take my car anywhere else. You get what you pay for. read more

I love Green Drop garage! The membership makes maintenance on my car so easy. The staff are always helpful and I never feel like I'm being made to do, or suggested to do anything unnecessary. My car is running great! Just took a road trip to Yosemite. 2000 miles, many of which were uphill/downhill/curvy. My 2016 Jetta handled everything easily with no issues or concerns that it wouldn't make it. Thrilled with the ease of making appointments as well. Reliability is the biggest factor in trusting a car repair shop and Green Drop repeatedly demonstrates this value. They've created ways to be accountable- you have an interface you monitor at home where all quotes are backed by photographs of your vehicle, so you can see precisely what they're talking about. You can see the work being done in real time, relayed via notes in the interface. And someone answers the phone when you call. I genuinely can't get over how friendly and kind the staff is. I really wanted to like this place, the subscription makes it easy and worry free, but it takes multiple asks to get anything done on my car besides the oil change. Like replacing the windshield wipers, checking the tires out, or rotating them. The customer service is something to be desired, the people checking you in seem more bothered by you then welcoming. Welcome to Portland I guess. AND every single time my car leaves this place something is wrong with it that wasn't before. Most recently my wheel well liner was messed with and broken during the oil change, I was not told. I headed our for on a road trip making it to Cascade Locks with a weird noise coming from my tire area. So I pulled over to discover the irreparable damage. My tire had burned a hole through the well liner. I had to bungee it to my front bumper until I could get home to fix the fastening. They also would not let me cancel my subscription after having all these problems without paying the difference. So yeah I will not be going there anymore, even though I've payed. read more

And gave me a free coffee voucher for a very sweet café, where I walked nearby. Spent time with a latte, they called an hour later--can't imagine an easier time at a mechanic. I went to them because they were running an oil-change special (half price, plus half of what you paid went to a charity). Good deal, and as far as I know they did a fine job of changing the oil. Also, yes, they are friendly and young and the place has a cool vibe. However: they gave me a list of $1700 in recommended repairs. I thanked them, and left. At home, I did some online research and found that Green Drop's prices for the recommended work is way higher, like two to three times as high, as the average in this area. And then I took the car to another mechanic for a second opinion and price quotes, and found that most of Green Drop's recommendations were either completely unneeded or exaggerated. This is not funny, not cool. I don't know if they are incompetent or crooked, but either way, I certainly do not recommend them for anything beyond an oil change. read more

I was happy getting regular oil changes here for awhile but I made the mistake of allowing Green Drop to change my spark plugs on a 2015 Chevy Sonic with less than 65,000 miles. The mechanic installed them incorrectly causing the car to misfire. when I brought the car back for the misfiring, Green Drop told me my entire engine was shot and quoted me over $8,000 to replace my e tire engine. They even confirmed this by taking my car across town to West Moreland shop AND LEAVING IT THERE. Their best guy confirmed the whole engine was shot. I took the car to the dealer and they fixed Green Drop's work for $450. I wrote the manager. He has yet to contact me. DO NOT GO HERE. SCAM ARTISTS read more

You're desperately looking for the best mechanic shop around because something went wrong last time. It probably wasn't just bad labor, but bad service. What a cool concept! First time in, everyone was super helpful and knowledgeable. I came in for an oil change, and signed up for the membership. Played with the shop pup, Then walked around to a few shops, and my car was ready in a little over an hour. Even got some new wipers, which is included in the membership. I've been in their $15/mo program for a long time now it has been great. Well worth the price. Free oil changes and fluids and wipers and more. Also just took my car in for its 80k service last week and they were great. Estimate and price were the same and it was a little less than I expected! I was sure I needed new brakes and let them know as much when I dropped it off so was expecting that and more on top of the 80k service estimate but they said all was well for now but to consider new transmission fluid at next oil service. These guys are honest IMHO and their online system for scheduling system is a breeze. My only knock would be that despite my car being fully ready and waiting it took 10 minutes to check out when picking up car, about double what I had allotted, because the two folks at the front desk inside the garage brushed me off to the woman in the new outdoor pod, who was helping someone already and had another waiting before me. That said, I suspect that if I had walked back inside and requested to check out there one of them would have acquiesced, so that's partly on me for not being more assertive for the efficient check-out I needed that day. read more

Very friendly people and great service! There was a minor miscommunication and they immediately took ownership of it and went above and beyond to correct it. What could have been a frustrating experience they made one of the best customer service experiences I have ever had, which is rare in auto service. They saved the day for me!
