Conveniently located adjacent to Highway 287, the Green Bird Inn is a modest little motel that provides a pleasant alternative to the larger chain hotels in Vernon. The rooms are a bit dated, but the prices are affordable. Keep in mind, the highway is so close to the hotel and such a busy roadway that you'll hear traffic all night. The windows don't buffer the exterior sound very much. But it's still a great little place to stay if you're traveling on a budget. read more

If you need a place to shower and crash, this works. Towels were crap quality and had stains, which is gross. Room updates are weird, but it was clean. The guy at the counter wasn't super friendly. He was very transactional. Takes the money and gives keys. Beds were ok. Showers were hot. If I was in an absolute pinch I would stay here again, but will avoid it next time through. read more

Jay took good care of my crew, with plenty of room to park 5 mixers. Having everything taken care of prior to their arrival, made for a crazy day end with ease. We like to support local businesses when we can. Green Bird had decent reviews so we tried it. Check-in at an at drive-up window didn't fill me with confidence but we were pleasantly surprised with a large super-clean, quiet room and bath. Bright lights outside provide security but hard to keep the room dark. read more

DO NOT STOP HERE. I REPEAT DO NOT. UNSAFE OWNER. DANGER!!!! We got kicked out because we requested a clean room. We arrived at the location at 10.30pm, got to our room. The beds were stained. We call front desk the owner of the place gave us the room next door. Same thing. Stained on the sheets but not as bad as the 1st one. Ask the owner for a clean room. " HE PUT HIS NOSE ON THE SHEETS, SMELLED THEM and told us ITS CLEAN. Remember we are during COVID19. I ask for refund so we can go to a clean hotel. He said no. He became aggressive and loud. We did not want any conflict so we left. I today still waiting for refund or a call from Hotels.com to fix my issue. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! read more

This place was gross! Towels were stained and the carpet was so dirty! Nervous about the bed but I was so tired I had to take a chance it was clean... would never stay again. The only positive thing I can say is that the lady that checked me in was so nice. read more

I would give this motel zero stars but I can't . We stayed here 2 nights we were spoused to stay 3 but, on the third day while we were out someone went into our room and ate our food. When we tried to tell the man at the front desk he told us it didn't happen and he wouldn't give us any money back . This guy owns the American inn and the lone star inn I wouldn't recommend this motel to my worst enemy. read more

First, let me say my hand is to Christ on this review. And I'm not the stuck up, snooty type. Neither is my wife. In fact, we're both pretty easy going and forgiving. Anyway, we were literally forced to desperately duck and cover at this ominous hotel in the middle of a nighttime Texas Tornado warning, tennis ball sized hail, extreme lighting and thunder and a very dangerous flash flood deluge. So, we HAD to check into this hotel. While this stop may have saved our lives - this hotel was akin to literally picking the lesser of two evils. The room was disgusting! It was grossly outdated, stinky as all hell, filthy and totally unkempt. Stinky like smokers and truckers who refuse to bathe! Also, outrageously priced for something so gross! Almost $70.00! Did I say filthy, stinking and disgusting? Good. Because I meant it! Sheets not clean whatsoever. Body imprints still on sheets under comforters. Bed bugs [seriously. i'd post a picture of them if they weren't so small and my poor wife didn't beat the hell out of every one of them that crawled on her as they occurred] and bugs even crawling on the walls! AND CREEPY! Bad neighborhoods and weak door locks really do make for bad bedfellows. Seriously, we checked in at about midnight and booked out long before 4AM. People? We literally risked everything to get the hell out of that hotel. My wife was literally adamant! Tornados or not! At least die with some dignity! Seriously, this hotel is reminiscent of every terrorizing motel movie you've ever seen folks! I swear I'm neither joking or exaggerating. Filthy, disgusting and totally terrifying! The comforters were anything but. From the 1970's I believe. Cleaned sometime about then as well apparently. Their white sheets? Really? We described their hue as, "smokers taupe." We asked for a non smoking room but were met with a smelly room with carpets covered in cigarette burns. A long story short? My rental car was vandalized the night I stayed there. I suspect it was perpetrated by other guests. When I called to report it, I asked for a manager and the Pakistani (or whatever) guy that answered initially hung up on me after brusquely saying there was no manager. I called back, and he eventually said he was "in charge" and that there were no cameras covering that side of the facility. It's a shame. I feel like if they're not going to have a security guard to watch the property they should at least install a camera to cover the customer parking. I had noticed when I checked in that there was a sign saying they weren't responsible for customers' cars, so I knew they weren't going to pay for the damage. I just thought they might want to know about my suspicions concerning the other guests, but the guy didn't seem to care. I would never stay here again, based on the way I was treated when I tried to report the vandalism. read more

The room was clean, but it was sticky clean. We spent time re-wiping the surfaces to remove the stick. Don't try to put business papers down on the tables. The microwave had not been cleaned and evidenced food explosion. Otherwise the room was OK, but nothing to return to. They like other hotels are charging a hefty price for mediocrity. Stopped here during a wonderful Texas cloud burst, complete with hail and tornado warnings... I didn't want to drive anymore at 11pm. The rate of $60 on Hotels.com was only reason I gave this place a shot since other hotels in town were over $100, and filling fast lots of motorcycles on Hwy-287. Friendly front desk guy, room was clean and recently updated. From the layout it's a former mid 1970's era Comfort Inn. Nothing super fancy. Good and cold, if a little louder than I'd prefer, AC but it didn't run all the time so better than many. They had a wonderful channel selection on TV, micro and fridge in room, good ice machines, bright colors, and best of all very clean. TL;DR... For the price totally top notch place to stop for a night. read more

The big hotels were all booked so we tried this small motel. We were wonderfully surprised and only spent half the cost. Very neat and clean with fresh paint and lovely green lights, the Green Tree Inn was just as neat and clean on the inside. The room smelled very clean, the bathroom was wonderful too. Good a/c, microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, and flat screen tv. There was even muffins and juice in the small lobby. Save your money and stay here. read more

Room smells like mildew, has at least 5 flies flying around. Charges extra per pet. The man gave us a discount on fee due ordering on Priceline and they not stating a fee. Only reason why 2 stars... Only reason I'm giving this place two stars is because the lady at the front desk was nice. We checked in with two cats and she came to our room to drop off my wallet (which I had left in the check-in office) and brought our cats some food and water. She was a little excited about the cats and asked my husband to take picture of them. No big deal, didn't bother us and we appreciated the food and water. The room however, was not so nice. It was gross. There were dead bugs in the bathroom and the sheets were gross. I was so uncomfortable sleeping there but we really had no choice. The room smelled bad too and when we turned on the AC, it was loud and made the room smell even worse. I don't think I'd ever stay there again unless it was an absolute emergency. I've stayed here twice in the last 6 months. My rooms have been great. The ice machine and the WIfi worked well. About as much as you could expect from a budget hotel. It is very close to highway 287, which cuts both ways. read more

Owners and front desk were very nice and helpful. Peaceful and quiet at night and good service overall.

Best price in the area. The room was super clean and had a refrigerator and microwave and the night manager was very polite. I'd get it a 5/5 stars for what you get. read more
