Green Bean Café was a staple throughout my university career, its' atmosphere is a calm and relaxing vibe that makes it a great nook to study in (especially because they offer free wifi). In terms of aesthetic is very much gives me Central Perk vibes from Friends. It's a cool little place to hang out with friends while drinking pretty good coffee. They have a wide range of drinks to offer, including some alcoholic beverages. Their food is also petty appetizing, their Rice and Beans Wrap is a fav go-to. I would definitely say the Green Bean Café is worth a try. read more

The Green Bean Cafe has cool earthy relaxing vibe. It has ample open space and many tables to study. There are outlets galore and cool string lights that make writing and studying possible. The food is delicious and they do have a wide variety of items including sandwiches, salads, soups and pastries. They also have a full bar and have all the certs to sell beer and alcohol. It is also walking distance from the University of Windsor campus and I can already tell it is favorite place for many students. read more

This is a nice, environmentally friendly coffee shop close to the University of Windsor. They brew fair trade coffee and also have specialty options. Their apple cider is great too. I'm not a big fan of apple cider, but theirs is delicious. I like that they have organic food and fresh baked goods everyday. A good cheap place for lunch. The only complaint I have with their food is that they use deli meat in their panini's. They would benefit from having fresh cut turkey and chicken in their sandwiches. While the coffee shop is fairly big and always clean, the problem is that a lot of students come here and end up sitting for hours on end, so seating is often difficult. ] read more

This has been one of the best discoveries for breakfast/brunch. They are located in the basement of a church. The coaches are cozy, wide, perfect for spending time with friends or by yourself (free wifi). The guys at the counter were friendly, fast, and accurate. If you ask for coffee they'll give you a cup to pour it yourself in the machine. We ordered a tropical smoothie that was fantastic, it helped us to relieve the heat damage with healthy fruits. The portobello panini was delicious. It was perfectly grilled, with melted cheese, red pepper, and chubby slices of juicy portobello (100% recomendable). As a coffee house, I'd rate this a 4. As a spot to grab some grub? A 3. Staff has always been super friendly and helpful, and they make a great chai tea latte. All but one food item I have tried has been incredibly bland, and portions are on the small side. The one item that I would order again? The morning glory wrap - a tasty tortilla filled with peanut butter, yogurt, granola and bananas. Based on the description, I did not think it would be that great, but its quite good. The space is cool. They've got free wifi (code is at the register on slips of paper) and have open mic Thursday evenings. Meh. That would be the word to describe this. Mediocre drinks for a steep (above Starbucks) price. Baked goods are just okay. The cauliflower soup was not good- and expensive, and to my disappointment didn't come with crackers or bread. This cafe is situated near the university, but the quality is subpar, and they really make you work for paying that price, by clearing your own dishes. read more

Oh man, does this bring back some memories! Green Bean Cafe was the place to be for any university student in the area. Whether you wanted a healthier lunch option or needed a different location to study, this was where you wanted to go. Located below street level under a church just steps from the university campus, this location provides a simple, yet modern design to a cafe catered mostly for students. With lots of tables, comfy seats, and LOADS of outlets (for all those electronics students need to charge). I used to come here when I was studying at the university and it made for a great place to meet up with friends to study together or just catch up. Food wasn't the cheapest here, but everything was good enough for the price. Coffee was always amazing, and if I remember correctly, they had something that had insane amounts of caffeine in it when you absolutely needed it! Their paninis were always amazing and they had specials for specific days too! Definitely worth checking out if you have not heard of this place as a student... Really cool place for people watching and/or for students. Cool location, in a basement of another building. I got the cafe au lait, which was nice, you could taste the coffee clearly and it wasn't too hot like a lot of other places. My girl got the frozen lemonade and it was very refreshing on a hot day. Frozen and clearly made from real lemon juice. If I were a student, I'd totally go here on a regular basis to study and meet other people. Check it out. The drinks here are yummy, the environment is really nice (with WiFi!), and everything is so clean and comfortable! As for the food, I've only ever had their grilled cheese, and unfortunately I didn't find it very good. Everything is very environmentally friendly (they even use pasta as stirring rods - Celiac's beware!), and the coffee is fair trade. The staff were super friendly and very helpful. The prices are definitely a little on the expensive side, and I didn't have any food or drink that wow'ed me, but I would still recommend coming here with a good book or some friends because everything is put together so nicely! read more

I'm not sure there are enough allotted character spaces for me to express how terrible I find this establishment to be. To begin with, their food and beverages must be laced with gold to warrant the kind of prices they charge. I don't mind paying extra for fair trade and local products, but don't advertise yourselves as a "do good" business and then rip off broke students. If you order anything here, be prepared to wait a good fifteen minutes, whether it's for a full meal or simply a drink, no one who works there is in any sort of rush to get you your order. There are also many "do it yourself" aspects of eating here, such as getting your own water and clearing your own plates; all chores I could do at home and try to avoid when I go out to eat. The bake goods are poorly described. I once ordered what appeared to be a banana muffin (there was no sign to say what it was) only to find that it was filled with peanut butter. That would have been a delightful surprise if I was allergic! They are often out of several things on their menu and often items are poorly named, such as their "Jamaican jerk chicken" or as it should be more accurately called "plain chicken." I do not understand what people find positive about this place. I have had nothing but disappointing experiences. read more

One of my favourite coffee and eating spots by the university. When I was at the University of Windsor, this place was my go-to for eating, coffee (bottomless cups + free wifi = awesome), meeting with friends, and studying. They also have open-mic nights and allow groups to use their locations to meet for things like movie screenings. They offer vegan and vegetarian food, which is great. The staff is always friendly.
