Stopped by for lunch today, just before 3 pm on a Saturday. We beat the rush. By the time we finished eating, the restaurant was almost full to capacity. Whew. My son had been before - he always gets the gyro and highly recommended the feta fries (I mean, seriously, what's not to love about that combo?). I opted for a California chicken bowl on rice. The first thing they did was keep opening and closing the containers and putting the condiments in where are the places put them in a bag they were using their hands without gloves on the food was not up to snuff, and we like the Gyro better at Wendy's I did not appreciate that they asked for tips when you're getting the food to go. I don't think that that is proper. I think it's the owner's responsibility to pay their employees I mean, we take the food home. We have to take it out of the bags. We have to serve it to ourselves and we have to clean it up so what are we tipping for the salad was not really a Greek salad and there was hardly any potato salad in it. Been here numerous times and it's always delish. I get the combo pita with chicken and lamb along with a side of fries. We usually do group orders and everyone's meal is just as good! This gem in a local neighborhood is one of the go to places for Greek food. It is authentic, an amazing, and you can't go wrong. I wish I had pictures for you, but we had to scarf it up because we were so hungry. I had the lentils and feta fries and let me tell you, the lentils were perfectly seasoned and you will love them. The service is fast and they take your order at the counter, give you a number for your table and then bring your food out when it's ready. The service is extra friendly and it's always a pleasure to go in this place. The restaurant has a diner, like feel to it, but it's pleasant and clean. We actually ate here the night we saw My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3, because everything was so good, we were in the mood to see this wonderful movie. This is a small family owned restaurant. It is super clean. One of the cleanest places I have been to. It is not a full restaurant per say, but it is not a fast food joint either. Husband and I love Greek food and decided to take a drive and try out Greek City Cafe in Spring Hill. This small restaurant has some big shoes to fill, next door to them is Cody's Roadhouse restaurant which is very popular, it's is good because we have eaten there but that's another review to be written! This review is all about Greek food and I must say delicious it is!! Got there about 6:00 and it was busy. Like I said it is a smaller place but has a lot of seating, booths along one side and tables down the center and at the back. Walked in and was cheerfully greeted by the employees and also said thank you on our way out, I like that, they have been taught well. The menu, which is a large one I must say is to your left, it is so easy to navigate through and help you make your decision. Pitas, both chicken and Gyro meat to choose from, soup, salad bowls, Greek pizza, fries, plain and their popular Greek fries withTadziki sauce and feta cheese, addictive they are, spinach pie, etc. Also have sweets for the sweet tooth. A beverage dispenser with Ice and a variety of drink choices, refills free, yay!! We both ordered Gyro pitas which come with complimentary homemade potato chips and split plain fries. They give you a number to put at your table you choose and deliver your food to you. Food came to our table in a timely fashion by a sweet young man who would later come back to check on us. That gyro pita sandwich was huge and filled with meat, lettuce, tomato,onion and in the center was Tadziki sauce and feta cheese! Gotta give it an A+, one of the best gyro's I have eaten, bar none!! Fries were hot out of the fry basket. We were more than pleased, great meal and we were stuffed. The prices were reasonable considering the portions they give you. Stopped by here for a quick bite to-go whilst heading on the road, and I was happy I saw this spot. My sister-in-law and I walked in to place the orders and the food came out shortly. I ordered the falafel wrap, making sure it was made vegan. The guy at the counter had to confirm, and offered the raspberry vinaigrette dressing as an alternative for the tzaziki; good choice! This was our first time to this location. We have been to the Cortez location many times! The staff was very welcoming and decor is similar in both locations. Menus are exactly the same however I still decided to try something new. I got the California Chicken Rice Bowl and it was delicious. It might be my new go to meal! Pretty good Greek food in a casual setting. I liked the gyros and falafel. Greek salad is Tampa Bay style with potato salad on the bottom, so let them know if you don't want it. I was disappointed by the spanikopita (spinach pies) as the filling did not have enough cheese for my taste ( very heavy on the spinach though, if that is your preference). The size is generous. The lemon rice soup isn't the best I've had, but it's still pretty good. Don't expect Tarpon Springs authenticity, but not bad. read more
