We used an agent at Hunt to rent a unit in our owner-occupied building. From the beginning we could…read moretell he was young and inexperienced but went along with it because, hey, everyone has to start somewhere and we're small potatoes. His visit to our property felt rushed and like we were just another business deal. We shrugged that off, again because, really, our one little unit didn't demand the big guns. After multiple months, we finally got a few interested parties. The agent was very firm that we accept a particular applicant, even though we expressed hesitation with their financial status. He lost the lease and application template we'd given him - I had to retype it twice. He also didn't bring a blank lease to the signing - I had to print it and all the other paperwork while everyone stood around in our hallway. Then he sent back a scanned copy of the wrong document. After signing the lease, we learned some information about the tenants that Hunt had not shared with us. We contacted the agent's supervisor but didn't get a response. We then contacted the supervisor's supervisor and got a minimal brush off. All we wanted was a little apology and understanding. For a company that should be very customer-relationship savvy, it was shocking to be dismissed and ignored. Needless to say, we won't be using Hunt in the future.

Due to COVID and the fact that we lived on the west coast, most of the activity related to the purchase took place in our absence, so our dependence on the realtor's eyes and ears was amplified. I will acknowledge that with the help of our agent, who is apparently not a full time professional realtor, we found the perfect home which fit nearly all of our preferred criteria. My partner and I were first taken aback by David's disparagement of a competing realtor, which in any profession is bad form. He continued to exhibit a general lack of attention in the mishandling of the first of two deposit checks, the second being necessary since the first was somehow lost. Enough said on that score. During the final walkthrough for which we could not be present, and to which our realtor showed up nearly an hour late, the realtor neglected to notice the 240v connection in the laundry facility and counselled us that a gas dryer, which was our preference, could be accommodated. We therefore ordered a gas dryer which upon delivery was of course deemed useless and had to be returned, resulting in our having no dryer for the first two weeks in our new residence. A slight inconvenience , but avoidable nonetheless. Finally, we incurred an unexplained additional expense on closing day, and Dave, in writing, offered to pay the difference out of his commission. When we received nothing after 2 weeks, I approached the office manager who promised, also in writing, to follow through with Dave to see that he kept his word. Neither promise was ever fulfilled. In consideration for the overriding lack of integrity and professionalism demonstrated by the realtor and his manager I will not be doing business with Hunt in the future and shall not recommend Hunt to my friends.

The communication between ELLICOTT- Specifically the Leasing Manager Elizabeth Kubiak and I was horrible to say the least. @ 24 S Johnson I got a knock on my door from someone who works with the building asking me if I saw any "bugs" I said no, should I be looking out for something specific? She said no, you're fine and left. Exactly a month later I was absolutely infested with cockroaches and left my lease. Had I known this woman came to me about cockroaches I would have taken the preventative measures needed. At 192 Seneca there was ongoing construction on the 2nd floor. I had a geriatric dog at the time. There was a potent chemical used one weekend that made it hard for me to breath/sleep pretty much anything. I called ELLICOTT and they explained they sent out an email. I never got this email. Key fob stopped working/elevator. I begged the leasing manager Elizabeth Kubiak to allow me to break my lease and move to another location, 960 busti. She accommodated me by covering the cost of movers since I had paid to move into 192 with movers just a month prior. Once I moved into 960, ellicott tried to bill me for that movers fee which was given to me due to incidents at 192 for 2/3 years I lived at 960. They finally removed that charge. April of 2024 roofing was being handled. I lived on the third floor. On a very rainy night my ceiling leaked all night. I sent 2 work orders within a weeks period and got no return communication. When I finally planned to leave ELLICOTT this past october I was told my deposit would come in the mail with the receipt. I was not given my full receipt and they kept $822 of my deposit. When I asked for clarification, Elizabeth sent the missing half of my receipt where that $822 charge was placed after leaving my first apartment. Why was I hearing about this charge now? Why wasn't I asked to pay that total or given the opportunity to dispute it upon leaving? It wasn't even itemized. NO PHOTOS. Nothing. When I continued to correspond with Elizabeth she stopped answering me on a tuesday and then went on vacation for another week that friday. When I asked again for clarification since she had been avoiding me she then ghosted me. Ive called in with no return call. My deposit was taken from me arbitrarily. I am a single woman who pays her own bills. No one should have to deal with this and then be ghosted by another working professional with zero clarity. I would not recommend living at any of their locations. Get an ESA for your pet and live somewhere else.

But with old buildings comes great, historic, intricate architecture. All ten floors of it! When I am in the Ellicott Square Building for work, I feel like I am in James Cameron's Titanic with the beautiful staircases on either side of the main floor with the glass roof... It's all so wonderful. There is even Charlie the Butcher and Joe's Panini for food options as well as a chiropractor and small shops on the ground floor. Unfortunately there aren't many offices that inhabit the building as there once were but hopefully it will continue to serve as an office building for years to come.
