Unfortunately Yelp is seriously lacking is urologist reviews - perhaps a shortage of middle aged…read moremen around here? I'm not considered middle-aged but I was recently looking for a physician/surgeon to perform my vasectomy. Anyone who knows me is well aware that I want nothing to do with kids, but I've heard many stories about morally righteous doctors trying to dissuade people my age from getting snipped because "what if you change your mind?!?!?!" Yea, I was tired of hearing that, and fortunately for me, Dr. Morgentaler was completely understanding and respectful of my choice. In his words (I think it's an exact quote), "The only potential issue is that you could change your mind, but you're a big guy and can make your own decisions." For starters, this was extremely comforting, especially since I was considering letting him mess around with my junk. I found Dr. Morgentaler through some online research. He is an associate professor of urology at Harvard Medical School and runs a urology practice in Brookline Village (literally right next to the D line station) called Men's Health Boston. He is a well-known expert on sexual health. Since I didn't have any reviews to go on, I came to the consultation well prepared with questions. He and his Physician's Assistant (Gary Mousseau) addressed all of my concerns and explained everything. All of the staff members I met were very polite, knowledgeable and experienced. Except for the receptionists, the staff is all male. During the procedure Dr. Morgentaler demonstrated his knowledge and competence even while having a conversation with me the whole time. At a few points I felt a slight pressure, but each time he told me what I was about to feel and where I would feel it, and he was always exactly right. This showed he really knows his stuff, and it removed any nervousness I felt. After he finished he asked how painful it was on a scale of 1-10, and I said probably zero. The application of the anesthetic was not exactly pleasant, but it was over in about ten seconds. There was no other discomfort and no pain. The procedure was over in less than 15 minutes and I took the train home almost immediately. I felt some minor discomfort the first day after the procedure, but no pain, and I was back to normal activity the next day. Bottom line... Dr. Morgentaler is extremely knowledgeable, competent and genuinely a nice guy. I probably won't need an urologist anytime soon, but if I did, I would definitely go back. I would also recommend him to anyone requiring urological services.

At first he admitted his error and then backed off of that admission and blamed me. I had had good experiences with him but the bad experience was made all the worse by his unwillingness to own up to his mistake and offer a simple apology.

But every day I feel grateful for the fact that the Elliot Lewis Center is in my area and that their unbelievable staff is in my corner. I've been a patient of Dr. Joshua Katz since I was first diagnosed with MS, and he's everything you want a doctor to be. He's one of the most intelligent people I know, but he's not afraid to say "I don't know" and to consult with colleagues and literature to get more information for you. As I write this, he's in Stockholm at the ECTRIMS congress to learn about the latest MS research and developments, and he's sharing updates with ELC patients on their Facebook page. He's hosted live online Q&As for patients, and it seems that whenever I email him with a question or concern, I have a response within an hour or two--even on weekends. And Dr. Katz is just one member of the team at the ELC! I've never met a patient of Dr. Ellen Lathi who isn't breathlessly praising her performance. I had my first appointment with Dr. Kenneth Gorson last week for intramuscular Botox injections, and I was so impressed by his ability to understand and address my movement issues. Their other staff members--from the reception desk to the infusion room--are so helpful and efficient that I actually enjoy days spent there hooked up to an IV. I'd be remiss not to mention the contributions of Jackson and Tiger, the very sweet ELC service dogs/mascots. I've met people who drive hours to get their treatment at the Elliot Lewis Center. If you make an appointment here I'm sure you'll see why!

A one stop place which offers patients everything from diagnosis to treatment, pain management and specialized physical therapy is is staffed by award winning physicians and nurses who are friendly and welcoming. This Wellesley facility is beautiful and if hospitalization is ever warranted the doctors on staff have admitting privileges to a variety of area hospitals. No one should ever have to endure MS. It's a horrible and often unforgiving disease. Having said that, there's no place better to seek out help.

I have been very pleased with the care that I have received at BIDMC Jamaica Plain. My doctor is the best doctor that I've had in my 69 years. She is smart, attentive, has a great sense of humor, and REALLY works with me. I feel like she really knows me and cares deeply about my health. I also find the front staff to be welcoming and helpful. I have never waited longer than 10 minutes in the waiting room, and usually it isn't even close to that long.

BUT I cannot stand this office. I won't even hide my frustration. 1.) one time while I was sat down to get a shot I asked for, I noticed she was setting up the wrong vile because I had the medicine on me. When she was about to prick me, I kindly asked if it was my depo because it looks different. She looked confused and asked why I didn't want something or other shot. I looked at her and said because I don't know what that is, I have an allergy to certain meds, and I just wanted my depo. 2.) one time I was sent to get my medication at a cvs and waited 40 mins to find out not only did they send me to the wrong location when I specifically had asked but they also hadn't sent it through to the correct location. 3.) the next time I come in and had called in advance to make sure I was scheduled and they had sent my order for my medicine through and when I arrived they said I had no appointment and couldn't give it too me. So I had to come back the next day. I came Back the next day after rearranging everything and of course the prescription hadn't been sent through. So it took an extra 40 mins while. I went to go get my depo from the cvs up the road. 4.) two days I called and asked to schedule an appointment for my depo shot. I asked if I should call before hand to make sure the prescription would be sent through. The lady on my phone assured me that everything was ok and it would be sent through. I said perfect, can you please be able to also schedule me for a physical? She said of course she would and seemed so nice. Then I arrive and my physical wasn't scheduled, was told I should have used the site and written them a message rather than called. I figured speaking to an actual person would be the best bet but CLEARLY I was wrong. I also found out that my prescription was not sent through. So now I am waiting for my prescription and have to wait about 3 hours for a physical which I was told I was lucky to have found this slot. No, I would be lucky if just ONE appointment would go right. I'm beyond irritated. Again doctor Melville is the only saving grace. Him alone I give 5 stars and same with the nice lady who draws blood, but everything else about this place is horrible and I'm now dreading every appoint I have to make!
