I politely asked if he could please try to keep it near the 10k. Written bid came in over 11k. (11,700$) Discussed that the bracing for the large metal stairs should probably be secured by something more than anchoring into stucco. To add proper supports the bid goes up again to over 12k. (12,800$) I would have liked a more professional experience where pricing didn't keep changing and for Christian to take the lead on making the stairs braced correctly and safely from jump. He kept saying this is simple we don't need to discuss the job so much. Also I had originally texted him to FaceTime me when he was onsite. He was on time but didn't respond to my texts. Had to wait 20 minutes for a response. He already left the job. Had to drive back to the job to be able to Facetime me. It is a large job that involves a lot of safety concerns. Was really looking for more professionalism to have the job bid correctly from the beginning and the scope of the job to be discussed throughly on time to get it created safely.

Today I took Dustin the neck rod out of my sister's beloved stuffed giraffe. A child had hung on the giraff's neck and broken the joint. I first used Martin's Metal Fab company around 2021 with a simple aluminum-to-aluminum welding job…read morethat I was really happy with. Expensive, but they did a good job. Next time around, in September 2025, they basically failed to get the job done. I came in with a ham radio antenna which required two copper-to-copper welds and two copper-to-aluminum welds. The relatively easy copper-to-copper welds were done OK, but two attempts to do the copper-to-aluminum welds failed when the copper wires pulled out of the welds. When I went to pick up the antenna after the third try, the welds appeared to be OK, and I paid the requested $460. Took the antenna home, where the copper wires again pulled out of the welds. I called in to protest, saying the antenna was still unusable. $460 for a failed job. The young man I talked to who coordinated the job would only say, "That's the way the cookie crumbles." So I wrote letters to two of the company's owners (in the Martin family) complaining about paying for a failed job. I never heard anything back. I expected at least a partial refund. Sure the job was unique and challenging, but they accepted the job with my understanding that they could accomplish it. Now, they have lost a customer and I'm out $460. Customer satisfaction: zero.
