We stayed in the Whitetail Lodge. It has a master bedroom, bathroom, and loft. Bathroom has a…read moretub/shower, sink & toilet. My son fell in love with the loft area. There was a small couch, tv, and the 2nd bed (full size). The steps to the loft are quite steep. We didn't let the two kiddos under 5 on them. The cabin is fully furnished. All the linens, and towels were there. Plenty of pillows & blankets as well. There is an outside fire pit with tables and chairs. You can purchase wood there for $7 a bundle. The grounds have shower houses, a swing set, a kennel fence to contain pets, lodge cabins, and overnight cabins. The lodge owners, John & Liz, are super nice. They were on the grounds daily to repair things and clean. They stopped by once to let us know Elk were up on the main lodge's yard. We saw a good many elk in the area, none near our cabin tho. We were told there are a few family of bear living around the cabins. We didn't see them. However, you could find random pieces of garbage with claw & teeth marks, and the dumpster has obvious bear damage. There is no cell phone reception anywhere on the camp grounds, and there is no wifi in the cabins. There is wifi at the main lodge, you just have to ask for the password. The nearest cell reception is roughly a 1.5 miles up the road from the camp. Its only a few bars, however. There was a motion sensor light on the one shower house that was directly across from our cabin. It would detect out movement when we were at our firepit. It also would detect every movement from the firepit of the trout lodge. It was nice for loading & unloading the car at night, but was annoying while having our campfire. There are a few signs posted around camp that say to call John & Liz if you need anything. Only problem is, no phones. They should install one in each cabin for emergencies, even if they only connect to the main lodge. The camp had everything we needed. We really enjoyed our stay. If we are back in the area, we will stay again.

I would recommend this place to everyone!!!!! This place has absolutely beautiful scenic views…read more Very clean with great service!!!!! Truly the best lodges that I've ever stayed at. I cant wait to come back!!!!

Admiral Peabody's Lakeside Lodging - My husband and I enjoyed a sample of a local wine on the private dock! Our pup liked watching the fish jump:)

I brought my wife and kids here for the 4th of July weekend to visit some family I had in the area…read more One of my uncles and his family had stayed here previously and recommended it to us. I am really glad they did. We stayed in a two bedroom unit with my parents. There was plenty of room for all of us. There were plenty of blankets and towels, and the full-sized kitchen gave the place a nice home-like feel. There were even chilled glasses in the freezer for our drinks! The view from the patio is amazing. We enjoyed some time just sitting outside watching boats sail around the lake. For the July 4th fireworks, we sat on the deck (which is exclusive for guests) right on the water. We could not have asked for a better view. As much as we liked the atmosphere of the room, we liked the owners even better. We interacted mostly with Olga, who was so sweet and accommodating. Anything we needed was provided. She treated us to a fresh watermelon, and even allowed my wife (who is a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan) to take a Bills glass that was in the freezer home. I cannot say enough good things about Admiral Peabody's. It is definitely a place at which I would stay over and over again.

The best place to stay in Watkins Glen on the lake? Admiral Peabody's 100%. My husband and I found…read morethis place last week by accident through a recommendation from a concierge at another hotel. We needed to find last-minute accommodations that would allow our dog and also didn't cost $500 a night after our van broke down unexpectedly. Admiral Peabody's was an affordable, clean and dog friendly hotel in Watkins Glen that we totally lucked into because it didn't even come up on our searches! This place totally exceeded our expectations. Admiral Peabody's doesn't feel like a hotel. It feels like your own lakeside cottage. We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite. We were able to sneak a look at the one bedroom bungalow cottages which were also adorable! Our suite was roomy, comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. It was also really nice sitting on the deck right outside of our room. PLUS, Admiral Peabody's has a private dock right on the lake with tables, chairs and a blue tooth music system. I'm not sure how old this yelp listing is but the owner now is Luke. HE IS THE BEST. If you are looking for a great place to stay in Watkins Glen, don't pass up this hidden gem.

Should be two stars - but service (Jackie!) gives it an extra star. Here's what you're getting at…read morethe Rustic Log Cabins on the Leidenfrost Vineyard: - Beautiful views of the lake (not sure if you can get to the lake from the cabins, we accessed the lake through a friend's house on the water.) - Peaceful - A one minute walk to the Liedenfrost Winery (it's literally right next door) - Your own private cabin with a fridge, two beds (our's had one single and one queen), dressers, table, chairs, porch with rocking chairs, and a picnic table. - Communal bathroom - like at a campground. - Across the street is Curtan's (?) Market - Cheese, hot sauces, produce, ice, and sandwiches. - No Wi-Fi - BUGS - bring A LOT of bug spray. The bugs will crowd around your door while you're inside at night. If you have to leave while it's dark, we learned the trick of turning the lights off at first, letting most of the bugs leave the door, then running out! (This was the number one con for us.) - Bring flashlights!! - You have to bring your own sheets, blankets, pillows, towels, etc. Approach the log cabins like you're going camping. If you hate camping and bugs, then there are plenty of hotels. But if you love to camp, like me, you'll enjoy this place. It's inexpensive and would be great for a group of friends to rent out all the cabins.

Had an absolutely wonderful time at these cabins!…read more My group of 15 enjoyed their stay at the Rustic Log Cabins. We rented out all four of the cabins, which meant we did not have to share the bathrooms with other groups and we were able to be a little louder than what you would expect at a state park camping grounds. I brought my dog on the wine tour and she had a blast as well. The cabins were pet friendly, and Jackie was so kind, telling me to be careful around the road (route 414) because a lot of people speed/whip right by. Cabins: The cabins were very quaint. My group went camping at a state park last year and had a blast. A lot of people thought the cabin would be too much, but they were perfect. We all had enough room to sleep on a bed, had electricity to charge our phones, and refrigerators to keep our beverages and leftover food from lunch and dinner cold. Each cabin had their own picnic table and bonfire. We just made one bonfire and moved a table over to accommodate all the people we had. There were stoves in the cabins, but we did not use them. There was firewood provided, which was very nice. Communication: Jackie was very easy to contact. We made our reservations two months in advance, and we kept in contact until the day of our arrival. She sent me a reminder in the mail, stating the remaining balance on a little brochure that stated more information about the cabins. I contacted her five days before our reservation confirming our arrival time and she promptly responded. When we arrived the day of our reservation, the cabins were clean and ready to go. She met us at the cabins and gave us a lot of suggestions as to where to go around the area. I would definitely recommend staying at these cabins if you are looking for a happy medium between camping and a hotel. My group loves the outdoors, so being able to have a bonfire and watch the stars at night was simply perfect!
