Will not shop here again and will be sure to warn my other business-owning friends. I was looking…read morefor a certain size of gift box, which lead me to their website.
I realized, by their name, that I had ordered from them before, but from their listing on eBay. That order came to me partially damaged. I took photos, sent them in and received a partial refund. While it was an efficient solution, it was hardly ideal. I needed the boxes.
This time around, I ordered the boxes for a certain size of product that I sell. It is coming up on the holiday season and I have 4 markets, plus online sales that I need to stock up for.
Though it was more money than I wanted to spend, not many companies sell this box AND this company is in nearby Ohio, so I was hoping for a faster, less expensive delivery. I found a promo that took off like 10%, but in the end, I was still paying $130 for 100 flat 8" x 5" jewelry boxes.
I received three email updates over the next 24 hours to say that the order was "being prepared," then that it was "on its way." The subject line of the third email claimed my shipment would be delivered on Thursday...
Busy with market prep, I wasn't following it all that closely. When they didn't arrive on Thursday, I just assumed it was delayed. But the following Tuesday (5 days later), I decided to email and ask what was up. I had never gotten another notification. When I looked at the tracking info, there was nothing but a "the label made" detail. What? How so? How when I got an email saying it was on its way, giving the estimated delivery date?
I emailed Gems on Display only for the person on the other end to tell me that there was an inventory issue and they didn't have what I ordered. Unacceptable. Inventory mishap, I can understand... but waiting to tell me 5 days after my order was to be delivered? An when WOULD they have emailed me? I'm the one that said something first.
Now I'm stuck trying to find another supplier to get these in a hurry. What a nightmare.
They took the blame and apologized, but did nothing to smooth anything over. They gave me a refund, which is bare minimum for the hassle.
I'm not looking for a handout, but I own a business and I can tell you that if I messed something up this bad, I would try to make amends. It could be as simple as reaching out to another company that stocks this size, pointing me in the direction of another website or giving a simple $20 gift card to invite the customer to try again. I don't know. This was a waste of my time and energy, and a detriment to my holiday market, and all they could do was say "whoops!"
This was strike two for Gems on Display. I will not be giving them a third chance. I do not recommend this company. We all make mistakes, but it's how the mistakes are handled that makes all the difference.
