I was scheduled for hip replacement surgery on Feb. 8 when I developed a stabbing pain the early evening of Feb. 1st. Early the next day my dentist suspected a root canal was needed, and got me in to see Dr. Phillips at noon. I was so thankful that he managed to fit me in! With heavy doses of Amoxicillin prescribed by my orthodpedic surgeon, I was able to get the root canal, have the infected tooth treated, and not have to delay my hip replacement surgery. It was my first root canal, and I was a bit apprehensive. However, Dr. Phillips and his very capable and genially professional assistant, Tina, were an amazing team! They made me feel relaxed, and I was not in any pain, during or afterwards. I especially appreciated their review of the procedure, the many x-ray positions showing the infected root, as well as the very delicate tools and steps needed to remedy the situation. (If a person doesn't want to know the "gory details," so to speak, they are given a choice. I like to know what is being done and why.) The follow up procedures were specific and well organized. The stressing of taking either Greek yogurt or a probiotic for the duration of the antibiotic and one week after ending the antibiotic was especially appreciated. No body likes a root canal, but I'd go back for another. The front-end staff are warm and friendly, and the dental associates are as well. Dr. Phillips and his assistant, Simon, worked together like a well-orchestrated team. My appointment started late due to a staff meeting at the beginning of the day, but once I was situated in procedure room, the appointment went quickly. Dr. Phillips and Simon apprised me of what each step was going to be and why it was necessary. I was glad to accept the offer to have a permanent filling applied over the root canal as opposed to having a temporary filling and the need to return to my regular dentist for a crown. This saved time and expense for an unnecessary visit with my regular dentist. I received a follow-up call the next day to see if there were any problems, and how I tolerated the pain (surprisingly enough, no pain, only minor discomfort). I highly recommend their services. You will need a referral from your dentist to get an appointment, but the office staff are good at helping you attain that. read more

The experience I had with Great Lakes Endodontics was excellent from beginning to end of procedure. They got me in within 2 1/2 weeks after I called them, in fact called me twice as they had an opening take place to get me in earlier if I could come in. Staff was always pleasant, professional and friendly on the phone and in the office. Dr. Phillips and his assistant were very polite, professional and within 50 minutes I was done. Painless prep, and dental procedure. I felt comfortable and well cared for. They nswered all my questions and checked me out with explanations on what I could expect for the next couple of days at home with the invite to call if I had any questions. In fact the day after my procedure one of their staff called me to check on me to see how I was feeling and/or had any questions. I had virtually almost no pain after the procedure. After a painful visit to my local dentist, I was referred to Dr. Parker for an emergency root canal. His office called me the same day, and were able to accommodate me the next day. Upon my arrival, the staff continued to be very friendly. Dr. and his assistant took very good care of me, talking to me throughout the procedure. Midway through, he informed me that he had found a crack. He stopped, and we chatted about the prognosis, discussing my options. After a thoughtful discussion, he recommended that I continue with the root canal, as my tooth was strong and the outcome was promising. He even bonded the area, which he said was not orthodox for him. This made me feel more confident is leaving the office with the cracked tooth. They communicated with my local dentist promptly, and my crown is scheduled for this week. They also called the following day to check in on me. I have been pain free since the visit. The whole staff there is amazing. From the check in at the front desk until the procedure was complete, I felt very taken care of. They were up front with what they were going to be able to do and what costs were involved. They bent over backwards to get me in as quickly as possible and were concerned every minute I was there to make sure I wasn't too uncomfortable. I put this off too long! I admit, after hearing horror stories for years, I was terrified of the term "root canal", but after going there, I've told everyone that if they need one, not to hesitate, have your dental office give you a referral to Dr. Phillips at Great Lakes Endodontics! Was able to make an appointment in less then 24 hours. Was greeted by the front desk staff in a professional, timely manner. The endodontic assistant was caring, reassuring and knowledgeable regarding answers to my questions. Dr. Phillips was VERY nice, compassionate and professional. The process was completed in a timely manner and my procedure required some extra TLC. The staff called me 24 hours after my procedure to check on my comfort level and again was able to address the questions I had. This was my second root canal by Dr Phillips. He does a great job! After my first one, I didn't have anxiety prior to the second one because of my positive experience the first time around. Dr Phillips is gentle and very attuned to your comfort level. There was no pain with the use of Novocaine. The staff person in the treatment room was very competent and the front desk staff were very friendly and efficient. I highly recommend Dr Phillips if you need this kind of treatment. The dental assistant I had was Jen. She was very talkative, friendly and reassuring. Made me at ease immediately. She explained everything before, as the procedure was going on and after care. Dr. Phillips was able to get my root canal done in a single visit. My molar roots were calcified from my tooth being dead for a long time. He, along with his assistant were very professional. I'm 1 day post procedure with no pain whatsoever. Dr. Phillips office staff is top notch as well.
