Im disabled and unable to work so when Social Security cut off my disability payments because they didn't get the papers back from me,and said they payed me 2 months too much and took what i had saved for emergencies; it shook my world. I couldn't pay my weekly rent at the sober house and had to move to a homeless shelter. One of the toughest in a rough part of town. The shelter I was at had 1 girl go to the hospital the night before i got there because she was sleep walking near the women beds and a bunch of girls beat her up. And there were several girls beating people up who slept too deeply and didn't wake up when they walked by. So i stopped taking my psych meds because 1 made me sleep walk and the others made me sleep real deep. By the grace of God i survived and made it to another shelter where i could take my meds again , but i was on shaky ground still from being off my meds. My anxiety was off the chain and my Post Traumatic Stress was messing with my mind some but i was aware of it . When I walked into Uptown Research the friendly receptionist lead me to Dr. Sonnenberg who was very nice and met me in His office. He asked me about my Psych issues and why i wanted to participate in the study. I explained my situation and that i could really use the money right now. He agreed and explained to me that i would need to go off some of my meds and try an experimental onein order to participate and he thought that was not a good idea for me at the time, since i was well managed by my medications. I agreed. I said that i was looking for a therapist to talk to for some time as well. Dr. Sonnenberg said i could meet his therapist for free since they didn't take Medicaid and my Medicare was cancelled by Social Security too. His Therapist is Paul Myers an Advanced Partitioner Nurse who saw me i think a couple times a week until i got out of the shelter and my Medicare was restored and i could finally pay them and get more stable and just see him once a week. He helped me when i was still squirrelly from going off my meds and has been my Therapist and Medicine Prescriber for 3 and 1/2 years now.Shortly after Social Security gave me back my benefits and i returned to the Sober House, My Mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. Paul Myers really helped me be a better daughter to my Mom and help her through such a difficult time in her life.My Mom had an operation and some complications from it and spent months in Hospitals and some rehab in a nursing home. The Drs. kept coming in her room giving us bad news and complicated medical words which they explained but we were both freaking out in our heads after the bad news and barley heard what they said after. Paul Myers was a medical Advanced Practitioner Nurse too so he was able to explain the medical stuff to me when i was calmer and i could explain it to my Mom so we were less confused.He also saved my Mom. She became confused and had a high fever and the Drs. couldn't figure it out. I told Paul Myers about it and he said to ask the Drs. if it could be a UTI infection. They said they checked already but after i talked to them they gave her new meds and she got better. Paul Myers helped me cultivate a more understanding relationship with my Mom where i could be the strong one for her. He let me vent and share all my frustrations about my Moms incurable disease and hospitals and medical findings and show me such understanding that I could give that understanding to my Mother who was Really going through it. I don't trust people easily and Paul Myers has earned my trust and kept it all these years. Relationships have really baffled me and Paul Myers has taught me a lot. He is like a great friend who just listens at first and lets You get it all out. Then like a friend we just have a light conversation about it and he explains things. He doesn't give me too much advice, i think he knows i don't like to be told what to do. lol. When he does give me advice it is really good advice and i needed it to be better off. Once or twice i didn't agree with his opinion, he thinks i don't give myself enough credit, he didn't get an attitude, he just smiled leaned back and we agreed to disagree. A couple times he gave great input that i didn't try, then after doing it my own way and it not working i tried it his way and it it went well. I told him about it and he did'n say "I told You so" he just said "thats great".A couple times i really needed to talk to Paul Myers and couldn't get an appointment right away. I left Him a message on His private Voice Mail and he told me to come in on His lunch break. I am forever Grateful for Paul Myers and Dr. Sonnenberg and Uptown Research.

And if they aren't, then they aren't. But when I asked why they aren't, which I believe was a very VALID question to ask, she just said, "because we just aren't accepting new patients." I'm glad to know that a place that supposedly offers help for mental health, they really don't know how to talk to people/people in need. Highly HIGHLY don't recommend this place just based on the service they provided or I guess in this case, did not provide.

For the most part, I felt Dr. Shirley was patient and willing to answer questions without rushing or interrupting you. I was pretty satisfied with the whole experience, and only withhold a fifth star because of the price. I have not been to the doctor in a looong time, and am only going now because my current employer has a health reimbursement account for me. In other words, my complaints could be totally unjustified as I am ignorant about current medical pricing. That said, my physical included a flu shot, tetanus shot, EKG reading, hemoccult, and urinalysis. My total came to $359. Maybe the reader of this knows if that is reasonable or not. If not, maybe one way to save money would be to get the flu shot (Influenza vaccine + Pneumovax vaccine= $57 at Dr. Roy's) at a public clinic and get the rest done with the doc? Anyways, it seems like a lot to little old me. All in all, if you have good insurance or are sick of substandard care at the low-income clinics and have the money, I'd definitely recommend Dr. Roy. UPDATE: I originally went to Dr. Roy in Feb. 2007. It is now almost May, and I am having real trouble with the organizational/secretarial aspect of this office, so I'm taking back 2 stars. I had some testing done (per Dr. Roy's orders) at a clinic while I was travelling in Canada. I paid for the tests and a international fax fee to have the results sent to Dr. Roy so we could discuss them at my next appointment. I have called 7 times over the past 3 weeks trying to find out if they have been received. The first week there was no answer, and a "Voice message box full....*click*". The next week there is a voice mail greeting from the actual secretary saying messages will be checked several times a day. I have left 3 messages over the past 2 weeks and still no response. Medically I had no problem with this office, but if you are in any sort of time-sensitive situation and/or getting tested at a clinic unfamiliar to this office, the one-secretary setup probably isn't going to be able to handle it, technologically. They don't even take credit cards here.

I asked if I needed a specialist and he said no b/c his mom had the same thing and so he was familiar with it (wtf?). When I saw Dr. Roy, she was very warm and welcoming. She is also smart and asked about my full medical history including whether or not I flossed! :) She gave me a mini-gynolocical exam and then referred me to an endocronoligst (female) who is the bomb! Since then, I have seen Dr. Roy for a few other things and she is awesome! She doesn't order a bunch of unnecessary tests and is very knowledgeable. Thanks Dr. Roy!!

Support staff of Sleep Science Center made serious mistakes in 2021:…read more(1) On my 2 visits out of 2 visits, the Center's support clerical staff INCORRECTLY typed my medications into UI Health's "MyChart" computer system, even though I always supply them a very clear up-to-date spreadsheet of my medications. For other patients, this chronic failure could be life threatening. (2) Most emailed notifications from UI Health's "MyChart" computer system failed to tell recipient (me) where to log in to read the notification contents. Other local medical systems do better than this. NorthShore University, Northwestern Medical, AMITA-Presence, and Rush University are not perfect, but they all do better than this. My Sleep Science Center doctor, who has been affiliated with UI Health for many years, seemed unwilling/unable to try to force improvements to the support systems, nor to extend his own medication-list oversight to prevent problems for his other, possibly less sophisticated, patients. (I am especially disappointed in my doctor, because I used to be pleased with him when he saw me at his now-closed stand-alone private sleep clinic.)

Dr Munoz himself was very professional and kind and i was able to get the test results in 3 days or so. He looked at my past reports since i did it one year back and recommended only what is necessary. Great experience and i would recommend it to any one for a medical uscis test. I only got one test from them and 2 weeks later I get another email with results. I called and they said it was a mistake disregard. Just recently got a letter of what I was charged for the second visit(which I did not have a 2nd visit). I got a text from a number that we met at a mall. I looked up the number and it goes back to this facility.
