Now in the old Remke location. Even bigger and better, with curbside pickup! Still no post office but not really needed in 2024 anymore.

Had them place a special order for a part for my Big Green Egg. 10 days later I call to check on the status and they never ordered the part.

This ACE Hardware employs the rudest cashier ever. I have been forced to pick up odds and end supplies for a project I am doing in Newport. Several trips here the past three weeks, and she is constantly rude, short, crass. I hate to come here. I've dumped several hundred dollars here the past 10 days, no more...I'll drive out to the big box for my incidentals needed now. read more

Ace Hardware in Newport always gives me the warm fuzzies with their stellar customer service. If I come into the store looking to get a key made, I can't event get to the key counter before two+ employees have asked me if there's anything they can assist me with. Once, when the store did not have the type of key I needed made, they even referred me to another local business (how cool is that?). The store is small and sometimes the products feel a bit marked up (compared to non-hardware store prices). If you can find the product at Target/Walmart you might be able to save yourself a few bucks. However, I'd much prefer to shop at ACE than to drive (a lot) further to find a big box home improvement store. The store is clean and I've always received 5-star customer service here! read more

I really like this location of ACE, the place with the helpful hardware folks ;) This is the closest location to where I live and, even though not the biggest, I usually find everything I need here. Someone is always by the cash register by the door and as soon as you enter you are greeted and acknowledged. There is always someone from the staff walking around the store and I had never been in this store without being asked if I needed help, which I often do :) I am impressed with how helpful, friendly and knowledgeable the ACE folks are. I was at other ACE locations and usually found a little popcorn machine with small bags of popped goodness ready to grab, but at this location I had never seen it. It might be the timing, or maybe they just don't do it at all. Anyway, that is why I take one star away. Other than that, very good shop with approachable staff! read more

Finally! A decent hardware store near Downtown. All too often I found myself trekking 10 miles (up hill, barefoot in the snow, mind you) to a Lowes or Home Depot. Then suddenly, this Ace popped up in the former location of Payless Shoes in the Newport Shopping Center. Ace is more of a hardware store to pick up screws, tools, and building materials rather than a gigantic home improvement warehouse. Think of Harry's Hardware, one of Tim Taylor's favorite spots. Each time I visit Ace, the customer service has been spot on. I am greeted within moments of entering the door, and before I can even get near the aisle of nuts and bolts, a clerk is asking me if they can be of assistance. On two memorable occasions, I've received great help from Bob. He's an older, white-haired fellow, who is exactly the kind of guy I want to sell me hardware. Bob was very patient with me as he sifted through drawers of toggle bolts while I told him "I think I need something shorter... no, wait... less wide." Another time I needed a plate for my bike rack, which I dragged along to the store with me. While Ace had the backing I needed, unfortunately the hole to place the bolt was an inch too short. Bob had me purchase the plate, then kindly took it into the back room to drill a new hole right where I wanted. It was a perfect fit! Prices at Ace are comparable to Lowes or Home Depot, but here you have the benefit of talking to clerks who are craftsmen. Just like their slogan says, "Ace is the helpful hardware place." read more

Great Lakes Ace - Hardware Stores Near Me - Newport, Kentucky

If you can't find it at a Walmart, I'm not completely certain you will be able to find it at this ACE either. Sadly, the product selection at this location is seriously lacking. Your shelves might be tidy, but in my book they were a little too tidy........ Case in point, I was looking for a gas hose hookup for my grill. Since ACE carries grills of the same type that I have, I figured they would supply the parts to hookup said grill. Sadly, I was mistaken. Who caries the grill, but doesn't have the parts to hook it up?! Next time I'll drive a few miles further to Lowes, where I know I can find what I need. Thanks, but no thanks ACE. read more

I WAS a loyal Ace customer, however, the owner of the Newport Ky location has a STUPID return policy on some items where you can't even take an unopened unused product that you bought back for a refund. So much for the customer always being right. I would have given no stars if possible. OWNER CHANGE YOUR POLICY!!!!$ read more

I always find what I need and receive great help if I need it at Ace in Newport, KY. Friendly service and great deals. I highly recommend this store. And I live only two miles away! read more

I'm so happy this hardware store opened. Up until now I've had bad and worse options for home improvement projects. In this same shopping center was a Sears Hardware. It was full of incompetent people and it was badly merchandised. You might find what you're looking for. Nearer my house is a mom-and-pop size store but like many mom-and-pop stores, the selection wasn't that great, the hours were bad and mom-and-pop weren't the friendliest. Oh, and after a bad storm they hiked up snow shovel prices. So I've had to drive 5.5 miles to Lowes or 7.7 miles to Home Depot. That's no long trek, I know but you have to factor in that every home improvement project I do takes at least 3 trips to get things I didn't know I needed, to get things I'd forgotten and replace bits I broke. That 5.5 mile trip is really 11 miles but after a frustrated Saturday is easily 50 miles. So Ace is closer and I'll be going there. But not only because it's much closer. It's got just about everything a guy trying to do a bit of home improvement could want. There's plenty of tools, plenty of replacement parts and few kitchy items. It's all nicely organized and the staff seemed helpful (even though I didn't need it) maybe aggressively helpful. Nothing bad with that, though. Newport, Belleveue, downtown folks, go here for your needs. It's worthy the stop. read more

I had been a loyal customer at this location for many years until today. I was making a very legitimate return with a receipt. Because the container of unopened / unused concrete mix was a little dirty (the way that I purchased it), the Wednesday afternoon manger suggested that I must have used the product, opened the container without breaking the seal and directly stated to me how it "must have been time consuming", like I am some kind of crackhead trying to scam Ace Hardware! I admit, I was poorly dressed and my hair was kind of messy on my day off. That said, I have never had a more insulting costumer service experience. I look forward to building a new relationship with a local hardware store and spending my money somewhere else. read more

I enjoy this Ace, the staff is very friendly, outgoing and willing to help. I like supporting local stores so I prefer to go here instead of the bigger home improvement stores. I was able to get natural remedies for killing the weeds in my garden from here and they sell bamboo rods for your plants! Much better option than those plastic ones! read more

I will never shop at this location again after being refused service because of 'covid'. The girl at the desk was rude, demanded I wear a mask even tho I explained to her that I have severe asthma and am exempt by law from wearing a mask. My constututional rights were violated and I was discriminated against for my medical condition, and at the same time I could see multiple staff members with no mask on their face, just hanging around their necks. I will never spend any money here again and I encourage others not to as well. Home depot was more than happy to let me shop in their store with zero harrassment. read more

I was in need of a small item but got great consultative service from Thomas one of the store associates. Some stores would not give you much time because it was not a large purchase ie., I needed a solution first to determine the product. Thomas in Newport Ky was great. He was knowledgeable and had a background in construction, tools ect. so he provided solutions that worked. He took the time and went out of his way to provide the solution and the product to the detail for every nut and bolt. He reminded me of the old days where you would go in hardware stores and you would find these old guys who knew an answer for everything-not so much anymore -but the ability to provide solutions is the value added and worth the money. I am sure the owner has more associates like Thomas but he was great and I will be back because of him. The Newport Store is a good store read more

Excellent selection of typical hardware items in a great location. Until a friend told me about this place, I would have driven who knows how far to the other big name hardware stores and wasted gas and time. Cool. So, as others have mentioned, the staff are friendly and one approached me and quickly helped me find my items. I will be back and almost look forward to the next household issue I will need to fix. read more

Such a convenient stop for anyone that lives in the Newport, KY area. They offer everything and anything related to the handyman industry. I come here to get all the supplies I need for indoor and outdoor chores. I get my tools here and smaller items like flashlights, etc. There is always about 4 staff employees working who can help you find anything you need! read more

love this store. Helpful staff, basic selection. the place to go when you need things for a basic project.

I really like this Ace Hardware because it is centrally located and, for me, I don't have to deal with the hassle of getting out to one of the "big box" hardware retailers. In other words, it's located in the middle of a dense urban sprawl in Newport vs. on the periphery of a city. In addition, they have most basic needs that you could ever want, however, given the limitation of square footage, you do experience a trade-off on selection vs. a big box hardware retailer - so it's kind of they have ___ but they don't have 50 brands of ___. Finally, I really like the customer service at this Ace Hardware. It seems it never fails that when I walk in the door, I'm greeted with a "hello" and a "can I help you find something". To me that is valuable - I spend more time wandering around the big box hardware retailers just looking for things (which generally gets me in trouble with "impulse purchases"). read more

I will not shop at this store again. Time and time again we have had troubles with paint, parts and keys made incorrectly. Good luck to you.
