I am a believer that when you get great treatment and excellent service, then you support that business or person. Due to my insurance change, I had to go with a new Dentist and so here I am at Great Expressions Dental in Wayne, from choosing them because they were in my Network and close to home, which is even a better reason to go there. I like the fact that they have early appointments starting at 7:00 AM on Fridays. That works great for me because I can go in before I go to work. From the time I made the online appointment, I received a follow-up call from Kyle, who by the way is the sweetest and most kind person you can talk to on the phone and even once you meet him in person. He did my follow up call and informed me about the quick and easy access portal online so I could have all my paperwork in order before I even arrive at my appointment. Once I arrived, I was greeted by Kyle and you can hear his smile through the mask. The whole staff receives an A+ for A1 Excellent service. Everyone had an upbeat attitude and so ready to help and assist. You can tell they like what they do. They treated me just as if I have been going there for years. Doctor Fady Shounia is really sweet and kind and you can tell he cares and really seem concerned about your teeth. My Hygienist, Myra was just as sweet and kept me entertained while she was doing my cleaning, she explained the whole process before she started and then went to cleaning. I like it when people treat you with the utmost respect and treat you as a family member. I felt very welcomed and even when it came time to check out to make my next appointment, the lady at the desk, which I forgot to get her name, she was just as sweet and kind and explained all my paperwork to me. I even liked the fact that once I checked in I only had to wait no more than three to five minutes. Get in and get out, that's the best part. My appointment was at 7:20 and I was leaving the office at 8:25. So, if you're looking for a new dentist, they're accepting new patients. Husband Went in for a cleaning and got charged for work he did not ask for. They charged us $247 above what his insurance covered, they gave him antibiotics that he did not need or request and they did not inform him before hand. Then they charged him $34 for water to rinse out his mouth. And then they charged him $16.40 that was suppose to be changed to the insurance. read more

DON'T GO HERE!! Unless you want to be told you have needs for fillings that are not necessary don't come here. Honestly not sure how they have almost 5 stars on google. Once you have experienced offices outside of this one, you realize how bad you had it in the past. My family and I now travel from Wayne to a dentist out in Farmington Hills. The difference is incredible. There are so many better places to choose from. Not one person in my family can say that they haven't had horrible experiences here. My dad actually posted about a bad experience he had here and they called him into the back office to ask him to take down the poor review. Once it wasn't taken down, he was told to find another dental office. Over a review. This could be how to keep a great review with bad service. read more

Great Expressions Dental Center is located in the same building as the orthodontics, I find it highly IRONIC that there is NO easily accessible phone number to the ortho portion, no website of the GEDC and no way to write a REVIEW the ortho portion of GEDC. So here I am posting it in the dental section. I want to say that dealing with the ortho portion of the GEDC has been a very frustrating experience from day one. My son needed braces and this seemed like the most convenient place to get them. Especially since my other son got braces at the Woodhaven office effortlessly. My son needed no special treatment for his braces, no teeth pulled, no headgear, no oral surgeries, nothing. It was basically for cosmetic reasons. He did have a slight overbite. Upon exam from their Orthodontist we find out that he would have to wear the braces for 2.5 years. I Thought this was odd since he has no major issues. But come to find out, our insurance only covers orthodontics for the first 2 years. So the remaining 6 months we would have to pay out of pocket. Come to find out, exams are only scheduled every 6 weeks, My son could easily be out of braces in 18 months if exams were monthly like my first son. GEDC allows 3 broken brackets before they start charging you. By our third visit my son had lost 3 brackets. The first bracket that came off was his fault. On the second visit he got his bottom braces. Two of the brackets came off the same day the braces were put on! I called the office immediately and informed them of the broken brackets and was assured they would make note. GEDC charged these two broken brackets against our 'three' that we are allowed even though one broke off in the car on the way home from the office and the other later that evening. Our third visit was Weds, Jan 24th 2018 and by Friday Jan 26 a fourth bracket was loose (the same bracket keep falling off) I've been trying to get ahold of somebody at the Wayne office since Friday but all I get is the answering machine. Its Weds Jan 31st and I still haven't been able to get anyone. I call the Canton office. Come to find out, nobody is in the Wayne office until Feb. 1st. Well isnt that nice? Would have been nice to have been notified that the office was closed for a week. Frustrating. Stay away. Stay very FAR away from this office. read more

My whole family has been serviced by this locations for about 10 years. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. They have a small turnaround with staff with makes it comfortable and easy to see a familiar face at the Dentist. They are great with following up and scheduling appointments. I would recommend this Great Expressions locations to anyone. read more

The only reason why this place gets two stars is because the actual cleaning and exam were decent. TL;DR: The office staff at this place is completely incompetent. I am uninsured, and signed up for the Smile Protection Plan, an annual discount plan that the Great Expression chain offers. You would think that their own office staff would be familiar with the terms of the plan, but no. They attempted to rip me off several times. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to laziness, but you would think nowadays when we are having so many debates about affordable health care, they would attempt to make some kind of impression that they are not THOSE people. Longer version with anecdotes: 1. I purchased annual membership for Smile Protection Plan in July 2015. My appointment was in May 2016. You would think that someone with basic sense could easily figure out that, no, my membership had not yet expired and that no, I did not need to pay to renew my membership on that date. However, the receptionist told me that my membership had expired and attempted to charge me, and it was not until I argued with her and SHE ACTUALLY MADE THE EFFORT TO CHECK MY FILE that she realized that I was right. Laziness? Dishonesty? Who knows.... 2. Last time I had x-rays done was January 2015. Technically, I was due for another set on January 2016, but because of my personal scheduling issues, I was unable to make an appointment until May 2016, so this appointment was when I was supposed to get those x-rays done. Before the dental staff performs any work on you, they have you review a list of what they are doing as well as the charges. I look at this list, and it's far more than I had been expecting to spend on this visit. They were planning to charge me for the cleaning, exam, fluoride, and x-rays. My budget is very tight at the moment, and I had been expecting to only pay for the cleaning and exam, so I tell them to take off the fluoride and x-rays because I didn't feel they were as immediately necessary. Then the hygienist comes in and looks over my plan and says "I think on the Smile Protection Plan, you are entitled to one free set of x-rays, which you haven't used yet." Don't get me wrong, I very much appreciated that she spoke up and looked out for me as her patient, but in my head, I was thinking, "Why is it that YOU are telling me this and not your office staff??" It's hygienist's job to clean my teeth, not to pick up the slack of the office staff. Maybe at the end of the day, I should have been more informed about the terms of my plan, if only to prevent such laziness or dishonesty. But anyways, so they come back and confirm that x-rays are included on the Smile Protection Plan. However, instead of offering what I would consider the common sense solution, they said "Ok, so for your appointment six months from now, we will do your x-rays and that will fall under your next Smile Protection Plan." I'm like did you not just tell me that I am overdue for an x-ray and make me sign a waiver acknowledging that I was refusing standard recommendation for dental care? So, you make a big stink out of it when it came me paying out-of-pocket, but when it comes to you providing a service your office has promised as free, you try to wiggle your way out by any means necessary. Nice. So no, I insisted that they give me what I was entitled to under the current plan that I paid for, and they did, but I don't see why it was necessary to have to do that in the first place. 3. After the appointment, I approached the receptionist to pay. She looks at a screen and had the nerve to just rattle off a number. I'm thinking are you kidding, after you've demonstrated your competence this many times throughout this one-hour timeframe, you really think I'm going to trust your ability to accurately assess what I owe? You can bet I asked for a print out of what exactly they were charging before I handed her my credit card. I could tell from her expression that she was annoyed that I made her do two extra minutes of work. read more

I wouldn't go anywhere else first of all. In my experience, they have always been upfront about costs which is first in line for me. I love knowing what to expect. My son who is six years old is terrified of the dentist, and they did very well in helping him get over his fear. All of them handled him very well, and he really opened up in the end. The hygienist, Rachelle, in particular really went out of her way for him to break the ice, and got him to relax. I am still in shock the way she inspired him because for as hard as I try to work with him, she did better than I could. We went from me nearly dragging him into the back, him sitting balled up crying in that chair, and having a meltdown about all of the things in the room; to him being completely comfortable, and wanting to come back. I look forward to seeing him grow with them, and I'll never approve of the travel dentists that come to my sons school again either. Among other lies, they had my son and I believing he had cavities, but thats a different review. read more
