The dentist in this building is skilled, kind, and works his rear off . I'm a terrible patient. months with a broken tooth and didn't visit until the pain was unbearable. He was forthright and raw about my outcome. He did his best to save what tooth I had left. He was gentle, and skilled. As of now, this dentist saved what tooth I have left and did such a wonderful job that I may be able to hang on to said tooth for years to come. Did I mention how kind and gentle he was? I am beyond impressed with the care I've received. I look forward to the day where my hyper mobile EDS causes no more pain or tooth destruction. Was experiencing a lot of pain and they did get me in same day under emergency. Staff friendly but "all about the money" First question on phone is what insurance do you have? I don't have dental insurance but would pay. They make sure they take money before you even see a dentist. $209 before seeing dentist, 2 x-rays then dentist looked at them. Said I need to see oral surgeon which they did not refer to me, asked if I wanted a shot to numb tooth for pain I said yes. Sat in chair for 20 minutes so they could get paperwork together for more money. Came back wanting me to pay another $94 for the shot! I said "no" and left. I hate that kind of treatment. I will start by saying the Canton, MI office staff was friendly and personable. The hygienist Saba and other personnel that I encountered were professional. I came in for a cleaning and tooth pain. I saw Dr Baiz and was told that I needed a full x-ray since this was my first visit at this office. I explained I was seen at another office in Southgate, but they said they did not have access to their records. OK, so I asked "Will my insurance cover another set of X-rays? Please check my insurance." I was told "Yes as because this is your first visit with us. They proceed to do a full mouth x-ray, a deep cleaning, and provide me with a mouth rinse. I pay out of pocket, over $200.00 up front (this is with blue cross blue shield dental insurance). Then two months later I get a bill for another $101 for x-rays. My insurance company says they will only pay for a full set every 5 years, but they could have done a xray on the tooth they needed an xray for or provided a justification why they did an xray on the whole mouth. I asked before my appointment if they checked my insurance. I wrote on my consent form to check insurance before services being provided and give me a estimate of charges. This was not disclosed nor explained. Times are hard and eggs are expensive. I don't need for companies to do a service and then tell me that I am responsible for the bill when I asked up front what the charges were going to be. I spoke to the office manager today. She said your insurance company did not tell us you had a prior x-ray, BUT LADY I TOLD THEM THIS DOES NOT COUNT FOR ANYTHING? This is misleading and frankly a fraudulent practice. My son had 2 cavity appointments, one week apart. We showed up for the first one, to be told that their computer systems were down so they couldn't call us to let us know that they canceled his appointment. For his second appointment today, I checked on Google Maps to check that they were open (and it showed they were), I called them 3 to 4 times to double check. No one answered, so I left 2 voice messages, giving them my phone number to call me back. They never called. I show up for his 2nd appointment and they tell me they're closed because the xray machine is down. They didn't bother checking their voice mail, or answering calls, or notifying patients that they were closed. So unprofessional. They lost 2 customers today. read more

First time at this GE office. I had to wait a good half hour for my 10am appointment, which was disappointing. However, I appreciate that the dentist explained the difference between the x-ray format used here versus the previous format used at the other office. I consented to the full set of x-rays, and was very pleased with how gently the hygienist performed them, ensuring no gag reflex issues. She then did a complete cleaning without any issues - checking in with me to ensure it was comfortable. I was not happy to change offices due to a mistake on my part with my insurance, but now find myself giving consideration to coming here permanently. Well done on this office for that! read more

Ever since this dental practice was bought out by Great Expressions, it has continually gone downhill. The staff turnover rate is off the charts. All long-time dentists but one are gone to join other practices, and most hygienists followed suit. Especially since their remodel, this office feels like a sterile production line to get as many people in and out as possible. Their customer service is lacking as well. Without asking for approval, they took x-rays that weren't supposed to be part of a 6 month check up and billed for them. In addition, they did full mouth x-rays on my daughter, even though they're not recommended until kids are much older. They told us that our youngest daughter needs braces, and referred us to their orthodontist, conveniently located across the street. Thankfully, we chose our own orthodontist, and were told she does not need braces. One of their latest moneymakers is to charge for a toothbrush and floss. After over ten years as patients, my family left Great Expressions Willow Creek, and were told we couldn't even get our records without giving them over $60 per family member! Fortunately, with the exception of x-ray images, we were able to get most of the information from our insurance provider. For these reasons and others, I cannot recommend this practice. read more

This place is focused on throughput. My cleanings were MUCH faster (less thorough) after Great Expressions took over Willow Creek and all the good dentists we loved left. They have ads on the walls selling dental services. They did a crown when I only had a small chip out on my tooth that I wanted ground down. I should've gotten a second opinion. Their periodontist at the Canton Center Rd office) wanted to do gum grafts with cadaver tissue on my daughter (for $8000+out of pocket). A second opinion periodontist that came highly recommended said she didn't need 1/2 of the areas and that cadaver tissue wouldn't have worked in her situation. She would have gone through a lot of pain over several visits, and I would've went through all that money for nothing. The radio ads they are running now talk about their high quality...funny since I felt the quality I received and my children received went way down, not up, after they took over. Maybe they improved since we left, or maybe the ads are just trying to change the perception about them. read more

This place is terrible because they first asked for registry for our service dog, then, I tried to tell them my daughter had really bad anxiety and to take it easy on her, but then when the hygienist came with the tools she had a panic attack and the dentist ignored me and told us to get a referral to their pediatric dentist. We've been going here for years, and I can't imagine switching to another dentist no matter what coupons or deals show up in the mail. Huge practice, with spots for at least 8 hygienists. They're open late during the week, and they have Saturday hours too. I have had the same hygienist a couple of times, but I've also rotated through whoever was there at the time. All staff has been very professional, and friendly to boot! My file calls out my hatred for polishing, with a specific note about going fast and rinsing often... and they've complied every time. Plus my file has the phonetic spelling of my last name, so they get it right every time. A couple small items that really add up in my book. They gave me a restaurant gift card when I referred my husband, and they recently gave him movie tickets when he had an issue with a crown. I don't expect things like this when normal stuff happens, so its nice to have them care enough about their customers to try and keep them. read more

I was debating between giving a four or five star rating, then I thought 'why not give five stars'! Great Expressions - Willow Creek has been great and I have no complaints. (I have seen a lot of negative reviews for Great Expressions Dental Centers, but my family's experience has been just as good, or better, than other Dentist offices we've been patients of in the past.) I think the biggest key is choosing the right Dentist. Dr. Van Esley is our Dentist of choice! He has a great "bed side" manner, he does a wonderful job with everything from exams to root canals, and he listens to our concerns and adjusts his procedures accordingly. E.g., I get heart arrhythmia with the standard anesthetics used in dentistry, however, Dr. Van Esley listened to my concerns and he uses a different anesthetic which has kept the arrhythmia at bay. Thank you Dr. Van Esley, and all of the great Hygienists, Assistants, and staff we have encountered at Willow Creek, for all of your hard, dedicated work. This family appreciates you! read more

I was very unhappy on my visit yesterday for a 6 month cleaning procedure. They took x-rays and then they did the depth of the gums. I have had over the years some of my gums at the depth of 5mm and have been that way for a long time. This time they made a big deal of it and wanted $170 dollar procedure for a treatment plan. At my age, 72, I did not feel this was needed and wanted to move forward to clean my teeth. They said that I should leave unless I pay $170 dollars. I had called the manager as asked them if I could continue to get inspections, x-rays, tooth fillings and other services from them and they said NO, pay the $170 dollar program they wanted to give me . It is too bad as I was there then Dr. Falvo started Willow Creek Dental in Canton many years ago. I have been going there for over 30 years and now it is nothing but a business to make money and not serve the needs of the patient. Today I will be looking for a new dentist. read more

I have been going to this dentist for a long time. When I was younger I chipped my front tooth and I have been getting fillings ever sense because I am not old enough for a crown. One time my filling came out that day and I was not happy. I just got my tooth fixed again today and they made it shorter then my other tooth and it's noticeable. They said that sense I keep knocking the filling off I can't have it longer. Its not my fault that they can't do their job right. I need to write this review for families that are uninsured. Especially for those who think they are getting a "good deal". Four years ago, my child needed braces leading me to search for any affordable option. Great Expressions was what appeared via Google search prompting me to choose this option. Being on a very tight budget, I did my best to afford this option, while a full time student and working 2 jobs. Many times, I was late on payments - but Ultimately, I would sacrifice vital necessities and always paid my bill. Finally, I paid a lump higher sum paying off my daughters balance in full - thinking it would be okay, and she would be able to maintain further appointments from then on. Boy was I wrong! Apparently, this is not good enough and they needed more leading to months of additional payments of $150 after the fact. This was NEVER explained to me and cost me close to $6500 in total. I called many times being told that someone would call me back, which no one ever did. I'm very disappointed at how my daughter was treated on numerous occasions by staff, hearing their unnecessary remarks and inappropriate comments which were total violations of HIPPA. I would give zero stars if I could. I will elaborate. After a couple of bad experiences, one final visit forced me to transfer my records to another dentist office. At Great Expressions, all in one visit, I was told I had FIVE cavities, and that I needed to get my wisdom teeth removed IMMEDIATELY. I also showed them a concern I had with my jaw (it's never opened or closed just right) to which my hygienist replied "Just don't open it like that". Sorry ma'am, that's the problem. That's the only way it opens and closes! Anyway, I transferred dentists and got second opinions and 1.) I don't have any cavities! (let alone FIVE) and 2.) My wisdom teeth aren't even close to growing in! I also got viable advice and referrals for my jaw. I will NEVER go to any Great Expressions office again and I will warn everybody who considers going. Bad, bad, bad. read more

This particular location used to be Willow Creek Dental until Dr. Falvo sold it to Great Expressions (for retirement perhaps??). I began going here when I was just a young buck back in the early 80's, and I even continued to go in my college years when I moved away from Canton because they had convenient hours, were always on time, provided good services and were friendly. Since the change over I've noticed a few things. I wait for longer amounts of time before being taken back for my cleaning. It's not outrageous, but I suppose I was spoiled with the old 0 - 5 minute wait times. They now charge you $1.00 to get a new toothbrush. Seriously? It's a nominal amount, but you are a dentist. If there is one thing you should provide your patients, it's a toothbrush. What's next? 5 cent an inch floss? The staff is still pleasant. Barb at the front desk has been there for as long as I can remember! They still have good hours, which includes late nights and weekends. As a busy parent I very much appreciate that feature. They accept my insurance, and happen to fall within the 'customary and reasonable' charge for cleanings so I don't have to pay anything out of pocket. I think because I had such a horrible customer service experience at the Great Expressions Orthodontist on Canton Center, that the fact that this once locally owned joint is now a part of that corporate conglomerate just leaves me feeling a bit sad. However, overall, it's been fine thus far. read more

My family has been going to Willow Creek Dental Office for many many years and always received excellent service from Drs Falvo and Andrews. Seeing the same dentist (just like with all medical professionals) is very important. Since the practice come under the Great Expressions franchise, the level of service has declined mostly due to you get which ever dentist is available...and it seems they don't read the notes from previous dentists. We've had occasions where a new dentist suggests a procedure where a previous dentists has said "let's keep an eye on this" and there wasn't any deterioration. If you find a dentist there you like (like Lovequist and Van Esley) always request them. I actually wish we could switch and investigated, but we would pay a huge increase in insurance premiums....but if service doesn't change, we will need to change. read more

I'm giving them a 1, but they deserve 0.  I went to the same dentist for years until our insurance changed and I had no choice but to go to Great Expressions.   Worst decision of my life!   Every tooth they capped, are falling out,  post and all.  That means the only remedy I now have is dental implants.   Thankfully,  our insurance has changed and I've been back at my old dentist for a couple years now.   When they put caps on,  they didn't put them on properly so there was a slight gap between the cap and my gum.   Because of that,  decay got in under the cap and rotted the core holding the cap on so the whole cap fell right out with no way to put it back on.   It's happened several times.  I went to a couple different locations hoping to find someone who knew what they were doing.   I went to the Livonia office and the dentist there was very young.   He was to perform a root canal.   He gave me a bunch of shots and nitrous.  During the procedure,  he hadn't numbed me in the right place and he touched the bad, infected nerve square on it.   Even gassed up and kind of out of it,  it about sent me through the roof and I instinctively grabbed his hand.   He screamed at me for several minutes for that.   I didn't do it on purpose...HE HIT THE NERVE!   I never went back there again because after a couple months of it still hurting,  I went to an Endodontist.  He took one look at it and said "My God, what have they done to you? "  I ended up going to the Canton,  MI location.   They charged extra for the nitrous,  but I paid because I was so nervous.   But,  the whole time the dentist was working on me,  she kept turning it down until it was only oxygen and they'd still try to charge me.   I'd fight it and they would eventually take it of my bill.   I paid the entire amount I owed at each visit.   The last time I was there was in 2014.  About 3-4 weeks ago,  I received a bill from them from  over 3 years ago.   I called the number on the bill to inquire about it and the number was to the Allen Park location that I've never been to.   The address was at a different location that I also had never been to.   I was told by the lady there that they had a "new system" and she showed no record of me so she said to disregard the bill.   A couple weeks later,  I received a notice from I.C.System, a collection agency,  saying that if they didn't revive payment,  they would report it to the credit reporting agencies.   So,  I called them.   They want me to go back and find all the information I have from 2012 to 2014 to prove that I don't owe this.   So,  to get this straight,  I haven't heard from them in 3+ years then all of a sudden,  I owe money and it goes straight to a collection agency.   They are perpetrating a fraud.   I'm sorry I ever went there.   They have caused me nothing but missing teeth and now this.   I think they hire people right out of dental school and offer them no help.   Once they start,  they are on their own and don't know what they are doing.   It has been a nightmare and I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. read more

The worst. They gave us the runaround when we wanted records to see a specialist that wasn't associated with them. When we finally did receive the record, it looked as if it was just manually made up by a 1st grader. I also have been going to this office since it was Willow Creek. The service and prices were excellent. Now we have Great Expressions, not good. I had a tooth implant done this past year and the procedure went well but when it came to payment WOW. Halfway thru the procedure I asked for a printout of what my final bill would be and received that no problem then came the completion and time for payment (5 months later). Was given my new bill and the prices were totally different and not to my favor by quite a bit. When I asked what the deal was I was told that codes changed (?) and that prices went up (What), SO WHAT! You do not change prices half way thru a procedure, you charge what you told the client. How would you like to buy a car and half way thru you are told you owe more money. Have checked with another dentist and have been told this is unethical! After over 25 years I will not be going back, can't trust anymore for correct pricing before something is done. Also as stated by others the wait time is now crazy and if you have to reschedule it is very difficult to get another time. I already have a new dentist, no going back. read more
