I expected it to be small, but actually it expands down the length of the north wing of Southover Grange House. It is a shop/gallery which sells the work of the Sussex guild, a group of designers artists and craftspeople, whose members live and work in Sussex and the surrounding area. The various artists' and designers' work for sale includes pottery, jewellery, furniture and art. It ranges in price and style, from homey crockery painted with cartoon-y chickens, to elegantly painted silk clothing, to wooden furniture for upwards of two grand a piece. The guild also runs classes, such as how to make fused glass jewellery, or turn wooden bowls, or do quilting. To inquire about courses you can telephone or visit the shop.

With everything from embroidered cards and pictures, to hats, bags, clothes, gorgeous jewellery, glasswork, workwork (the wooden bowls are amazing, but you do pay for their beauty!), paintings, furniture. A lot of it is a bit out of my price range i have to admit, but its very inspiring to look round and see what people have crafted out of various materials. Its the sort of place that leaves you wanting to go home and make something!

All this in a lovely setting that you just can't help wandering around, there are hidden treasures at every turn. Watch out for the Elephant !!! Shame it is closed on Sundays. They have enlarged the Car park so there is plenty of space now.

Turn off the A22 to Ashurstwood it is on the right at the top of the hill from Forest Row and on the left passed the war memorial from East Grinstead. It is easy to miss this treasure hidden away beside the cottage. It is between the Blacksmiths & the tennis courts. Park in the layby at the entrance to the tennis courts or just along the road in the little free car park then walk, carefully, back towards the forge. Just after you pass the field/tennis court gates there is a wooden five bar gate, go in, you have arrived !!! There is always a beautiful display of plants at the entrance to the little shop. There is not only a wonderful selection of unusual flowers in this tiny treasure chest but also really imaginative containers and gifts. Nothing ordinary here. Not the cheapest flowers around but there is something for all pockets and she is frienmdly, approachable and more than happy to make suggestions to suit your budget. From Wedding flowers to little bunches of herbs to your chosen plant in your chosen pot to birthday bouquets to a posy of anemonies. Everyone always love the flowers & gifts I get from here. I must say, it's much nicer when not every single light is on. This shop sells a lot more artsy and unique lighting options - many of the lamps are some sort of statue or piece of artwork affixed with a lightbulb. Genres of lighting include: chandeliers, tall and short reading lamps, ceiling fixtures and outdoor decorative designs. There were also several in mosaic and frosted glass styles. Things that didn't light up included paintings on canvas and clocks - cuckoo and fancy Roman. All items are 40% off - Some signage indicates it's a closing out sale, so if you're looking for unique sources of light, you'd best venture in shortly.

There is no interaction with the history on display here. It is an old style museum that hopefully will disappear soon. The art gallery has some interesting pieces on display. But, it is on such a small scale that it really is not worth the effort! The library is on the ground floor.

It's free so you can't complain to much and it's worth checking it our for something to do because even if you're not keen on it, you won't have wasted any money. It's not at all bad and I really recommend it because, as I said before, IT'S FREEEE!!

Have just been to this Garden Centre and had a really happy couple of hours. I have been before but…read morenot for years and as we were passing saw that they had now opened a Coffee Shop so in we went. We were greeted at the door by a friendly member of staff who pointed us in the right direction. Coffee area is only small but lovely home made cakes & sandwiches. There Christmas area is on different levels and totally inspiring with imaginative displays that you just want to copy. A very wide selection of unusual gifts and books, as well as some different gardening gifts. In addition there were some really good offers. We spent far too long there but found some super presents that we are well pleased with. The plant section is vast with experts on hand to advise. They stock everything from Bedding to Perennials to Trees & Shrubs to Fruit & Vegetable plants. There were plenty of happy, friendly staff willing to help and there is a large car park. Entrance is diagonally opposite Pembury Hospital & almost directly opposite the Ramada Hotel. They are open every day. It is the most enjoyable shopping experience we have had in a long time.

They stock traditional Polish 'eyespot' pottery, which is pottery decorated - normally in blue and white- by hand stamping complex spotted patterns. The pottery is hard-wearing, it can be microwaved, dishwashered, and so on. It's very pretty, but it is quite expensive. A small teapot came in at about £15, mugs about £8. They have a very large collection, with all different patterns. It's quite thick pottery, not thin china. It would be very nice for a rustic country kitchen such as you would find in 'Country Living.'
