I have been going to great flips for years from anchorage to eagle river now to Wasilla. I have had my hair cut in Wasilla before several times now. I am not that picky on my hair and have never complained about a haircut in about 40 years. Today i received the worst service of my life. Cut my hair way to short she should have just buzzed my whole head. I was never given a mirror to look at the back. I was never asked how I wanted the back done or how high I would like my sideburns. She paid no attention to the front of my hair. I am just going to buzz my hair myself or go to a real barber next time. My husband went there a few days ago to get a hair cut and whoever took care of him started questioning him about his COVID test because they saw his last haircut was in California. They wouldn't give him a haircut until he showed proof of a negative test and said it was corporate policy. BUT the Great Clips website says absolutely nothing about proving that you have a negative test to get a haircut. After said person got what she wanted, she butchered his hair and left straight marks on his head (attached pictures below). It looks like someone put a bowl over his head and started shaving. They didn't even TRY to make it look okay. If you can't put your pride aside after getting called out and do your fucking job properly, you shouldn't be in the customer service business. HORRRRIBLE. I have used this location for several years in a row. I try to go once a month, but for the last couple of years they have went completely downhill. The attrition rate is higher than any salon I've ever visited. Good luck finding a stylist that you can use over and over again as they do not stick around very long. The app is practically useless here as you will check in and your time will fluctuate between 30 minutes and 2 hours over and over and over again like they really have no idea how long it will be. read more

So I tried the great clips online check in. Said it would be 77 minutes. 60 minutes later since I didn't get an update and it said they were full. I asked what was going on. They said they were sure but I was on the list. I waited in the shop for over 30 minutes. Then I noticed my name way down the list on their board. Only go if you want to waste your time. Thought i could get a haircut before my sons appointment. I had almost an hour. Looked online and the Wasilla GC said 5 minute wait time. Cool. Signed in and drove over. Walked in and it was just me and another guy. 5 girls working. Well, "working". One girl looked like it was her first time ever cutting hair. The other girls kept checking her work. The other girls seemed more interested in talking (except one), stopping to gesture at the other girls they were talking to. Soon it goes from me and one guy to 13 people waiting. Time goes from a few minutes to almost an hour. No problem since im next, right? Wrong. 30 minutes later (im not exaggerating), the non talking girl finishes, cleans her station, and calls the other guy. The girl doing the most talking complains about working tomorrow and leaves. Eventually two other girls finish, comment on the line, then disappear somewhere. Meanwhile the girl who seemed lost finishes, dillys around at the front counter, and starts cleaning her station. All i wanted was a touch up, but ive got barely any time left, the seemingly good hairdresser is busy, and i dont want to get my hair butchered by the new girl, so i left. Id give zero stars if i could. Would not recommend this place. read more

On referral from a friend/coworker, I entrusted Great Clips to try to give me a good haircut and good experience. The haircut I received was mediocre at best, they do not shampoo anyone's hair from what I could see and there wasn't ANY cleaning up of the hair all over me. Eric (hair stylist) didn't even untuck my collar that he tucked inside out before the cut or clean off the clumps of hair all over my forehead and neck. Seems like a bit of a haircut mill. Stylists are more quick chop artists, rather than hair stylists. I understand that a place like this makes money off of quick turn around, but doing a mediocre job is far worse than being quick. I will not go to another Great Clips again and my friend/coworker was shocked at my experience. You will be lucky if she and I don't spread the word on how subpar this store was. read more

This place sucks.. Most of these people herd you through as fast as possible in order to get to the next hair cut. I've been here at least 10 times and 9 of those hair cuts have been so bad that my wife had to take scissors and cut the long hairs. There is only 1 girl working here that I would go to. You are better off going to the new Sports Clips next to Starbucks. Even though it cost more, they know how to cut hair and not leave a thousand long hairs or uneven lines around my ears or neck. Have never had a bad cut, no matter who did it -- have been going there for years. Besides their cutting your hair for you, the customer needs to elaborate on what they want. Your idea of 'kinda short" may differ than their idea of what that means. They're hair cutters, not mind-readers - be specific and your end result may be better. read more

I have one Girl that cuts my hair all the time. She is very sweet caring and a good hairstylist. In my eyes she is the best. Next time I get anther hair cut I will share her name. Out of respect I want to have her approval before posting. read more

Great place for the price! We always go here, had only on OK haircut ,the rest were always great! I do always try to get my haircuts from more experienced barber and it is not hard to spot it while waiting :) Open until 9pm on weekdays which is very convenient if you want to stop after work. Location is great too. I even went there on my lunch break, with on-line check-in it worked great. read more
