I went in and requested an asymmetrical bob. I have curly and thick hair for an Asian and, from my experience, only some hairstylist knows how to deal with hair like mine. I was wary but desperate for a new haircut. The hairstylist took note of my curly hair and he did such a great job! I can tell he has a lot of experience by the tools he used and the techniques he used to cut and manage my hair. At the end, he even provided guidance on how to take care of my hair with the new cut I got so it will look the way he styled it at the end. And most importantly, he was so kind. I highly recommend and will come back again.

The only woman I trust with my hair is Sue Hyun, this little Korean lady that I've been going to…read moreall my life. The salon is a bit of a hole in the wall and hasn't been updated since the 90s, but I'm happy her business is still standing throughout this dumpster fire of a couple years now. Sue is honestly the only one I trust though and my entire family has been going to her all my life. While my hair is relatively low maintenance, I still don't trust just anyone with Asian hair so if you're reading this and have Asian hair, I can guarantee you'll be in good hands with Sue and really, if you're in the area, why bother trusting anyone else? My mom has really difficult, curly hair, and even she religiously goes to Sue. Her only minor complaint is that Sue sometimes cuts her hair a little short, but the hair grows out really quickly, so that's typically no big deal. If you don't want slightly short hair, then just tell Sue to cut it a bit longer than you might want and then it'll hit perfectly where you want it to. My parents live out of state now, and when they were getting ready to leave, the only thing that made them really emotional to leave Michigan was having to leave Sue. They live in southern California now and even there, they have not been able to find anyone they love like they did Sue, they have barely even found anyone that they tolerate. LOL Every time my parents come back into town, they make sure one of their first stops is getting a hair cut from Sue! Sue is so sweet and always loves seeing them. When I go in for a haircut, which is typically not when my parents are in town, she always inquires about how my parents are doing, which is so thoughtful of her! Sue speaks very little English, she is Korean. My family and I are not Korean, so we mostly communicate with Sue through very short sentences, phrases, and lots of hand gestures! If you're first generation like I am and are used to dealing with your parents' probably broken English, you'll have a pretty easy time communicating with Sue - no worries! Her salon has always been at this location and it definitely looks a bit worse for wear these days. There are those perm chairs (what's the actual term for these) and stacks of old haircut magazines in corners and the space is actually really huge, but all that matters these days are the mirrors and haircut chairs, which is what continues to be well maintained, so I don't really pay much attention to the rest of the space for that matter. Lastly, Sue's pricing is also SO fair and seriously reasonable. When I told a different hairstylist what I pay at Sue's, she was truly shocked and was basically like yeah hold onto that as long as you can! You truly won't find a better haircut for a better price anywhere around here. I love Sue and honestly in writing this review, I am jonesing to get my haircut now - I am overdue for one, so see you soon, Sue! :)

All she needed to use was clippers and then scissors on top to layer it but she just used scissors all around and chopped it up! I like stuff very even cause of my ocd but I tried to get layers to kinda help me with it but this made my ocd flair up even more. I tired to get her to fix it and with clippers but she insisted on using scissors again but she finally semi listened when I said just shave it off...so I thought! She ended up trying to fade it and mix the layers but it was in some spots. Don't get me wrong she was nice but didn't like listening! When I was done; I walked past a little kid getting the same haircut I wanted but with longer bangs by the girl who greeted me when I came in!! When I got home I just shaved it all off to the scalp cause my ocd couldn't handle the unevenness but luckily I've shaved my head a few times already and don't care much about hair cause it grows back. Rem does a great job with color and highlights. She is most accommodating. My hair is difficult and I have received multiple compliments since she took over.
