Cindy was kind and efficient. She listened well and we had good conversation while she did my hair.

No real complaints. Friendly staff, but it seems they go through a lot of employees. Never can I get the same person to cut my hair.

This was a great place to get a haircut with the welcoming and nice staff, but I was disappointed when my cut was uneven.

Main Street Salon - That looks like foiling my hair to make highlights or dimensions. To me, those two terms are not "all over color".

I am very UNHAPPY with a recent hair service where I received unexpected highlights from a new…read moreemployee, McKenna, even though I clearly asked for a solid, all-over hair color. I booked for all over color and later was told it would be a bleaching service instead if I wanted to go lighter. I agreed to all over color and going lighter. So this was fine. I originally had all over hair color that was dark brown with naturally grown out roots (2-3 inches). Then McKenna mentioned she was doing something similar to "balayage" when the other stylist and their client asked what she was doing to my hair. I clearly communicated my preference against highlights multiple times, even questioning the stylist during the process when her technique appeared inconsistent with a solid application. Despite assurances of an all-over color, my hair developed "dimensions" and it was BLONDE with noticeable damage to my hair. I thought she was coloring my roots but she was creating "dimensions". Dimensions is not all over color. Dimensions is "highlights", streaks, and lines that's not all over color. I wanted one solid color and for my black roots to be matching the brown all over color. Does that make sense? Does that mean I want highlights? When I contacted the business via email, the owner responded. We went back and forth few times. She only offered to have McKenna fix it, which I didn't want, and suggested just toning it darker, which I knew wouldn't stop the highlights from reappearing. The salon owner's subsequent offer to explain why "highlights" were necessary, rather than acknowledging the deviation from my original request, further illustrates a misunderstanding of my concerns. This experience represents a critical breakdown in communication and trust, as I was misled about the service being performed and would have sought a different salon. I don't think this salon does lift and color method. Or the owner is protecting the new stylist's mistakes. Regardless, McKenna is busy posting on Instagram. There is a photo of my hair and titles it "Behind the scenes" like it is a proud moment for her to lie to a client rather than reaching out to apologize. She should have been saving my hair from being burnt off other than taking photos at the sink. My hair is burnt off and I'm pretty she noticed it when she was blow drying my hair. She failed to mentioned the blotches and missing hair. I did not even get the deep conditioning treatment that I requested. I did get anything that I requested or wanted! In the end, I have unwanted highlights and less hair than before. My hair color is further away from my intended goal because she ignored everything that I said and gave me brassy highlights. I requested for refund or another stylist at the same location to correct my hair. That's when communication stopped and the owner never responded again. This service totaled $270. Here's the thing. New stylist and seasoned stylists can make mistakes! But the stylist is posting on social media other than apologizing. The business owner doesn't understand why you don't want to be getting your done by the same stylists that did everything other than what you have requested... this is not a good business to support.

Main Street Salon - I showed this collage for inspo. She said it well take 3-4 sessions to get to that shade. I agreed. I originally had dark brown hair.

(Realized I forgot my review in my drafts! So I'm posting it now!)…read more I usually give a salon multiple chances before writing a negative review--unless something seriously goes wrong. Unfortunately, in this case, it did. I've been here a few times for lashes and once previously for hair, and my first hair appointment was great. The stylist was gentle, communicative, and professional. I loved my hair, was shown products afterward, and happily purchased them. I left feeling taken care of. This second hair appointment was a completely different experience. I was greeted by a young stylist who seemed pleasant and understood what I wanted. However, once she began, I immediately noticed she had extremely long, sharp acrylic nails (about 1.5-2 inches). While I have nothing against acrylics--I wear them myself--there needs to be a limit in a professional setting, especially when working so closely with a client's scalp and hair. She colored my hair without gloves, which already made me uncomfortable. Throughout brushing, coloring, and washing, my hair repeatedly got caught in her lifting acrylics. My hair was yanked out multiple times, and at points it was genuinely painful. Holding a brush seemed difficult for her, and the brushing was rough and uncomfortable. The shampoo experience was by far the worst I've ever had. Normally, that's my favorite part of a salon visit. Instead, due to her nails, she couldn't properly massage or clean my scalp. The shampoo barely reached my roots, yet my hair was pulled the most at the bowl. My scalp was sore for two days afterward, to the point where brushing hurt. I'm a mom of three and a full-time college student, so self-care time is rare. I was really looking forward to relaxing--maybe even reading--but it was hard to focus through the discomfort. On top of that, the stylist seemed mentally checked out, asking me the same questions twice and lacking awareness of the situation. When the service ended, she simply removed my robe and said thanks for coming. No walk-out, no product recommendations. I had planned on purchasing shampoo, conditioner, and heat protectant again, but I left without anything. I still paid for the service and left a tip. After taking a few days to cool off, I felt this needed to be said. This experience was unsanitary, painful, and disappointing. My hair turned out "meh"--the haircut felt rushed, I didn't get the layers I asked for, and highlights alone don't make up for the experience. I truly loved coming here, but after this, it won't be my salon anymore. If you come here for hair services, I strongly recommend choosing a stylist whose nails allow them to work safely, hygienically, and comfortably--preferably ones that can fit inside gloves.

That's why this recent situation caught me off guard and honestly left me feeling disappointed. I received a text message that my upcoming haircut appointment is being canceled because I install my own hair extensions that were not purchased through the salon. I want to express this respectfully, but also honestly this feels unfair, and the reasoning behind it comes across as both unprofessional and unnecessarily controlling. First, refusing to provide a basic service due to a personal choice about where I source or install my extensions doesn't align with standard client care. It blurs the line between a salon setting reasonable service boundaries and restricting client autonomy in a way that feels inappropriate. Second, as a returning client who has consistently supported the salon through multiple appointments, being denied a service I have previously received without issue feels dismissive. It also comes across as being rooted more in controlling the client relationship and ensuring revenue through product or service exclusivity, rather than focusing on providing quality care. I understand salons want to stand behind the work and products they offer, clients should still have the freedom to make independent choices without feeling penalized or excluded from unrelated services. It's giving mean girl. Lastly, the way this was handled through a cancellation message rather than a conversation felt abrupt and impersonal. I value the work done here and would have preferred to continue as a client. However, policies like this make it difficult to feel comfortable or welcomed. I hope this feedback is taken constructively and encourages a more balanced approach that respects both the salon's standards and the client's autonomy and choice.
