Today I had the worst haircut I've ever received. I'm in shock with how bad it is and and that someone so lacking in skill could be licensed to do hair. I literally came home and my wife said, "Oh my, what happened to you?" I walked into Great Clips today and was pleasantly greeted by Nikki and she took me to her chair. I brought a picture of a style I wanted. She went above and beyond to duplicate the style in this picture. She used a technique with special scissors that created snow from my white hair lol but when she was done, she duplicated this style to a T. I walked out of there a whole new me. When I got home and washed the snow out, I was able to style it with little to no effort and with a little product on the ends, this style is exact, it looks like I spent a fortune at a high end salon and I feel fabulous!! Got another haircut today; usually every 4-6 weeks depending how busy I get or how my bangs hang over my eyes lol. As I've said in a previous review, I've been going to this place for years. Nice vibe with entertaining music in the background. My hair stylist is Rebecca. She is really good at what she does. Most of the time, a perfect haircut unless I decide to be more adventurous lol. At my age, I try to stay with the try and true, unlike my youth years. Looking at past pictures of myself, I had long hair and sometime a perm. What the heck was I thinking lol. With that said, the hair stylist has notes in the computer as to my previous cut and would print them out before starting the haircut; and follows those guidelines. Great system since I am sure she sees and cuts a lot of hair. We usually share information about our family and at times get into some light hearted debates. Always a great experience. I very recently moved to Pompano Beach and the previous 5 months were very stressful. It finally became time to stop putting off a hair cut. I live in the neighborhood so walked, about 30 minutes. All I knew is there was a Great Clips a walk away. It was a Wednesday, mid- afternoon. I immediately got checked in by a gentleman whose name I unfortunately cannot recall but he was professional and precise. There was one client waiting and 2 clients being serviced. No one else entered before Erica asked me to come over. She was very pleasant. We briefly discussed my situation and my desires for the cut, which was well overdue. Included in my previous work experience was as a salon manager for 10 years so I had an "inside track" on what I thought should happen and how. Erica completely understood what I said and took great care to NOT over cut. She was cautious in all respects , asking questions throughout. Erica performed impeccably, doing exactly what I would have done myself! 4 days have passed and I couldn't be more pleased. I told Erica I would be back and I fully intend to see her again (if possible). The price was right. Service was excellent. Getting a great deal shouldn't mean sacrificing quality but that seems to be the case at this location. My husband went in to get a hair cut and his experience was below par. His "stylist" disregarded his request to cut his hair line square in the back and it is completely rounded. She also vigorously cut the hair with little intention and everything on the top in uneven. When he went to pay, the "stylist" looked over his shoulder to watch him tip and when he clicked the "other" option, she made a snide remark insinuating he was going to tip lower than what she wanted. I stopped into this great clips the other day hoping for a good haircut but had my fair share of trepidation. I have my regular barber up in Deerfield but Great clips had given me a special card for haircut for veterans. It was nice that I could check in on line. That seemed to save time. When I arrived I was already first in line! The gal who grabbed me was nice enough. I felt a little guilty getting there at the last hour they were open but we had plenty of time. We started with a few questions about how I liked it but not too many. She did a pretty good fade overall. A "1" on the sides. I honestly wasn't sure this kind of barber could do that so I was pleasantly surprised. In fact I mentioned that I like my part cut in and she did that as well. I did not expect that. I appreciated her taking the time to do the best slick haircut even though I don't think they get such requests often. I give up. I have been a customer/client for several years. Even driving 15minutes to Pompano just to go there. I have always been happy with the way Mark cuts my hair. It seems however the management goes out of their way to make it difficult to get the haircut. First, I am only interested in having my hair cut by Mark. Mark usually works on Sunday and that is typically a convenient day for me. When I called today to see if Mark was working, the phone went to voice mail. The online check does not allow one to choose a specific stylist. I signed up with an 89 minute wait time. I also signed up for a text message alert 15 minutes prior to being next. I did not receive the text and when I arrived, you guessed it, Mark wasn't working. Way too much trouble and way too many options to go elsewhere out there. Good bye Great Clips. I went in yesterday and asked to have 3 inches taken off my hair. Once the hair started falling, I knew it was way more than 3 inches. I could not do anything but let her continue because the damage was already done. My stylist took off 5-6 inches of hair. Instead of long layers in the front, she did short layers. It took a year or so to get my hair at the length it was and now my hair looks choppy and messy. I can't do anything with it. Very unhappy with the service and will not return. I just got the worst treatment you can imagine!! I have a coupon and called to check about this, it's directly from greatclips.com for $11.99 hair cut. The lady that answered the phone told me she can't know if it works until I check in, she says she doesn't want to make me drive all the way there without knowing if it works or not, so I say well that's contradictory because you say I must check in for you to know if it works, then she puts the manager and he tells me he can't know either so I check in on the phone, he sees me on the system then he tells me he can't know until I CHECK OUT!!!! How is that even possible!!! Then I tell him to make me check out in the system and tell me if it works, why would I go there without knowing if I can use my coupon, and why do they contradict themselves. Since COVID I have not had a haircut since early March 2020. Today is February 6, 2021. I head from friends that the Great Clips in Pompano Beach went above and beyond to ensure their customers were safe during COVID. I was very impressed with not only the safety but with my haircut. My hair is wavy with a lot of cow licks. Beth did an outstanding job looking at the picture I brought of the short haircut and style I was looking for. I typically go home and completely restyle my hair. Honestly this is the first time I have come home and checked out the style. She did an excellent job. I did not have to touch my hair. Amazing, I'm so very, very pleased. I will definitely be returning to Great Clips in Pompano Beach. It's well worth the 30 minute drive for me to get there. Also make certain you download the Great Clip app. You can schedule your place in line before you leave home. They text you when it's your turn so you can stay in your car and not have to sit in a waiting room. Definitely safety first practices here. The store this morning was with lane three people before me, any way they ask me to sign on line even that I was in the store, after sign on line was told that at 10:30 I will have hair cut, mention that at 11:00 am I need to be at work near 3 minutes away ! That said maybe you can have hair cut before 10:30 ! Stay at the store waiting the three persons before me had hair cut, I was waiting one of the lady mess with the computer and after finish the third person before me passed another before me ! Was mad the time sign 10:45 and was and realized that if I wait more will be late to work ! The Brazilian lady is very professional in cut and very social is a gift for them having her in the store! Debbir at Pompano is horrible!! She does not have emphaty neither for a 5 year old kid or for his mom. My son is 5 and its obvious that this was not his first time ever hair saloon experience. All she kept saying was I cant do that like this like that and what so ever. She had a still face not even smile or try to talked to. And at the end. She put her scissors on the table and said I am done. Not even 5 minutes passed after we stepped in to the hair saloon. We went out of the saloon but my son insisted, and we got back. This time David was in charge and he made a GREAT job!! All my son's complaint was "mommy its tickling". Wasn't it so normal?? Hope you have cameras and saw what happened. The place is fine but the rating is mostly for the barber Debbie. Her attitude is rude and disappointing. When I gave her a 15% tip she rolled her eyes and asked me how long I've been in this country. I think 15% was a fair tip for the job that she did. The store is clean and they are practicing safe techniques during this COVID - 19 time. However, if you want your hair cut they lack skills. I had my hair cut by Mark I showed him a photo of the cut and I walked out with a cut that was different and it is an awful cut. My hair does not lay flat , it is uneven everywhere and nearly impossible to style. It looks horrible and I am probably going to get a wig to wear for a few weeks. I would also like to mention, that I have visited this location before and experienced Debbie who is very rude. John, new to this location, is a bonus! The shop was empty when my turn came up so John was not rushed as the stylists typically are. (Yes, folks, stylists are timed, my one gripe with Great Clips) John helped me decide to abandon a very frustrating hair do that I was trying and to try something new. He gave me help and advice every step of the way. It was pure luck that there were no other customers at the time or I would not have gotten the excellent advice and genuine help. We were paying a lot more for an inferior hair cut before we found this place. This is a newer salon and Each time I come in they seem to be better than the last. They are friendly, quick and good.
