Skip forward several decades and my mom (who has still been going exclusively to Medusa's) and I went to see Patty for hair cuts at Thanksgiving time (2020). We also got mini-pedicures (I think the woman's name was Rachell? sorry I'm very bad with names). Anyway it's a small salon but has social distancing measures in place including opened doors/windows and reducing the number of customers in the store at a time. We all wore masks and surfaces were disinfected. Due to a miscommunication between myself and my mom I actually didn't have an appointment for a hair cut until a day or two before, but Patty was able to fit me in after my mom's was done. I just got a simple wash & trim and she was able to fix a lot of things that went wrong from a previous cut I'd had elsewhere. I'm very thankful to her!! She did a great job for me and I wish I lived closer. I would absolutely make her my go-to if I were in Sonoma County. Also LOVED the pedicure. I got shiny silver toes and they were fantastic! She took SUCH good care of my feet and pampered them even for just a mini-pedi. :) Highly recommended!

I have had the pleasure for the last year now to meet and transfer my beautician to Madelaine here…read moreat the Coconut Room. She is amazing. I was so sick and tired of hairdressers that did hair cuts that THEY wanted. I went to people for long periods of time. They should know me. So when I come in and say make me come alive. A little shorter, a little color, but put life in my hair. If you know me after year(s) you should know what to do for the high dollars I'm paying you. One day I walked in and met this talented woman (Madelaine) and never looked back. She has her own style for herself which tells you right off the top that she's artist and can be your hairdresser in and out of the box. To be totally honest with you, sometimes I actually feel so bad when she has to do my hair, as I have enough hair for 3 people and she probably needs a massage on that arm after blowing out my hair lol. Another wonderful aspect of her creativity is, if I want a special hair style from a magazine or Pinterest, I send it to her ahead of time to let her get set up or we do a dry run (for big affairs like my sons wedding). My hair was to be up in a chignon with a tiny pearl necklace woven through my hair (100 pearls). I never had so many compliments in my life. Now on the playful side, she was able to put just the right amount of pink and purple strips on either side on my head for my granddaughter's 4 year old unicorn birthday party. She rocked it. I was a cool GiGi lol. So, give Madelaine a call and give her a try. She is there Friday's, Saturdays and Sundays. You will be smiling for a long time after you leave her chair.

I just had a very disappointing experience yesterday with Candice. went in and asked for layers and…read morecurtain bangs. I showed her pictures and tried my best to explain exactly what I wanted. I wanted layers with a clean, defined shape, not something too wispy or feathered. I have very fine, wavy hair and that just ends up looking frayed and stringy. She said she understood, but then she just picked up random pieces of hair and dragged the scissors along them. I've had a stylist do that before, and it resulted in exactly what I didn't want, but I tried to trust the process and let her finish the haircut. When she was done, it kind of seemed like she knew it wasn't what I wanted, and she told me that if I wanted it adjusted, I could just book a bang trim. I had somewhere to be afterward, so I really didn't have a chance to look closely at it before leaving the salon. It first glance, I thought I looked great. However, when I got home, I realized it wasn't what I wanted. I booked a bang trim for later that evening, and she seemed very annoyed when I walked in. It felt very tense and awkward. I again showed her my inspiration picture and tried to explain what I wanted. I had the haircut I wanted for many years, so I know it's achievable with my hair. I told her that my old stylist who gave me the layers that I loved never dragged the scissors like that, and I explained that I was really trying to achieve the type of layers I'd had in the past. I specifically said that if she didn't feel like what I wanted was achievable, I'd rather just leave it alone than have her cut more hair and make it look worse. She said she just needed to add more layers, but she did the exact same thing again, picking up random pieces of hair and sliding the scissors down them. She told me the it looked different than what I wanted is because my hair texture must have changed. It hasn't. I asked her to adjust my bangs and said I wanted them just above my chin, but she cut them to just below my eyebrows. I just FaceTimed with the stylist who used to cut my hair, and he explained that what she did is called slide cutting and that it's not how you achieve the type of layers I was asking for. He said any experienced stylist knows the difference, and there's no way she didn't understand that it wasn't what I wanted when I went back in. He thinks she just didn't want to take the time to do traditional scissor-cut layers. My hair looks horrible. It literally looks shredded when air-dried and very wispy, thin, and stringy when blown out. The layers are pretty short, and it's going to be years before they grow out. When I went back last night, I wish she would have just said she couldn't do it instead of doing more of what she knew I didn't want. It seems like Candice is a very skilled stylist who knows how to cut hair, so it really seems like she just didn't want to take the time to do what I was asking for.

This review is for Clara's wok cutting and dyeing my very short men's haircut…read more Pros: friendly, very accommodating of my fragrance allergy (the shop itself is not fragrance free, but they let me bring my own semi permanent color and shampoo and conditioner, and used that on me), chill atmosphere. Cons. Quality of work low, price outrageously high at nearly double what I was quoted, no accountability for mistakes and total lack of pricing transparency. I made this appointment with Clara for A short haircut buzz/trim, bleach, and color. I was quoted in the mid $300s, for 3hrs. I arrived on time and she saw me right away. She did a beautiful job with the bleaching as far as appearance was concerned. however as far as the health of my scalp was concerned, she was really sloppy about it and that made it hurt. I'm not normally sensitive to bleach when it's applied correctly, ie on the hair, but not on the skin. But she got it all over my scalp, so it took twice as long because it started burning my skin, which meant she had to wash it off and try again. When she applied at the second time, she did a good job avoiding my scalp, so she was capable of doing that the first time and just didn't. For the color, it took a little while to negotiate what color I wanted, and for her to make a custom mix out of the colors that I brought. I have no problem paying for that part. But then she again did a sloppy job with the application, leaving a bunch of patchy uncolored areas so the color needed to be put on again. And when she did it the second time she again got it all over my scalp. At this point, I'm not even upset because I feel like it's fine. She's learning to work with a new product and she's not acting stressed about it. I asked her about the time because I know we're getting to if not over our scheduled appointment time, and she says it's no big deal, she's got nothing else to do that day. I'm a little irritated at having color all over my skin, but I know how to get it off and can do that at home. But then it came time to pay the bill. And instead of the 330 something dollars I was quoted for haircut, bleach, and a couple hours of potential color they wanted to charge me almost 600! I had only been in the building for four hours and 20 minutes and she wanted to charge me for five hours, and included in that was the time it took for her to fix her own mistakes. I spoke up and said that I didn't feel it was fair to charge me for that time and they took an hour off so I paid $469. It was something, but it doesn't account for all of the time I was mischarged for. If you take out the second bleach and the second color, and count for the fact that I was only there for four hours and 20 minutes. It actually ends up more like the three hours, which is what I was originally quoted. I should not have been charged more than that. And that's just the time piece. On top of that is the fact that is not a $469 experience and I'm not leaving with a product that reflects that amount of money, or even the $330 I was originally quoted. I have 4 in.² of hair, a lot of of which is thinning so it's not even a full 4 in.². It's really hard to find a hair salon that will accommodate fragrance sensitivities and so it's incredibly disappointing that this happened. My wife got a beautiful haircut from them and we were planning on coming back repeatedly. I was planning on coming back to get bleached at least because even though I can bleach my hair, she did a great job of doing it without damaging it, which is something that I cannot do. As it stands, neither of us will ever set foot in there again. I should've been clearly informed if I was going to exceed what I was quoted for the extra time, because I would've just gone home and finished coloring it myself. If that time actually was spent giving me a high quality dye job, I would absolutely pay it. As it stands the fact that that number included the do-overs when she misapplied both the bleach and the color is outrageous, unfair, and shady asf. $600 for this color job is not even SF prices. I hope the owner sees this and makes it right. If they do, I'd consider going back for the things that they did well, and only those things, with a consistent pricing method. But this experience was ridiculous and if they don't make it right, I think other people need to know about it. I don't generally leave bad reviews even when I have a bad experience because it's hard running a small business. But this is egregious.
