I visited Great Clips on Friday, August 23, 2024, around 4 PM, and I have never felt more unwelcome in a place. The moment I walked in, every single hairstylist gave me cold, unfriendly looks as they sat around chatting. It was clear they had no interest in serving customers. My hairstylist didn't bother to engage with me at all. Instead, she continued her conversation with the other stylists, which I found extremely rude. She cut my hair completely dry, something I've never experienced before, and the result was disastrous. The layers were terrible, and it was clear that she lacked the skill to work with my multiple hair textures, which I wish she admitted rather than trying and butchering my hair. When she mentioned she had only been doing hair for 2 1/2 years, it made sense why my haircut turned out so poorly. To top it off, as I left, I received more rude looks from every stylist in the salon. I have never felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome while getting my hair done in my life. My roommate had a similar experience a few months ago, where they also cut her hair dry and ruined it with awful "curtain bangs." We will never be returning to this location and will be warning everyone we know about the terrible service. read more

I've been there a few times, two times now when I've asked for a layered haircut they have given me a straight cut. I've had to call and reschedule to get my hair reshaped by a different stylist twice. I don't live in town so it's a real inconvenience to make a special trip just to have them correct their mistake. So if you like, just a straight cut go for it. They are nice, courteous and friendly, but don't know how to cut hair my hair the way I like it. read more

Good no frills haircut at a good price. Even without an appointment there's rarely a wait but you can put your name in online and they'll let you know when to come in. I've never had a bad haircut here. read more

Good value. Conscientious of their customer's time. You can checkin online and save time waiting. They have an app that does the same thing and shows the current wait time BEFORE you check in. If you just walk in then you can checkin and come back later when it's your turn. Stylists tend to stick around quite a while so if you're a regular, lie me, you get to know the girls after a few visits. Tip $3 or more and they treat you even better. read more

I had gone to this Great Clips for over 2 years. The girls there are decent at cutting hair; but after going for 2 years, none of them would know my name when I walked in the door, nor greet me with a "welcome back". They have nice features, like online check in and a computer that tells them what haircut you had last time, but their haircuts are sloppy and feel rushed. They are just a machine trying to get as many clients in a day as they can. Pay the extra 3 dollars for a real barber and go to Tony's. read more

Went in here one day in between my split double at work just to get my hair trimmed. My hair is damaged from a previous bleaching gone bad and just being dyed over time. I waited about 30 minutes and the woman who took me asked what I wanted done. I told her I needed about 3 inches off my hair; cut to my collarbone. She told me she had been doing hair for 32 years so I felt I was in good hands. She rushed me in and out of her chair and cut off maybe half an inch. I paid for nothing. My hair looked like garbage and I didn't have time before my second shift to fix it at all. I went back to Chicago to get it cut by my regular stylist. The only positive thing that came out of this experience is she turned me on to a new product to help with my hair damage that I absolutely love. The product cost more than the haircut and it was the better investment. If you are a female looking to get your haircut, go to a real salon. read more

I was in the salon when this crazy woman, Dana, whom I know because she is a local photographer here in Normal, went banana's (and I mean she went berserk!) on these poor hard working girls. For the record, this customer, Dana, was the only one in this place that shouldn't be holding scissors (ever!). The stylists here are EXCELLENT and do a FABULOUS job. There were many of us that talked after she left, including another woman that recognized her. She made a fool of herself and then took to the internet and wrote that awful untrue review. I don't know Daphne, but I can only imagine how awful she must feel after this lunatic woman went crazy on her. Poor girl. I can only imagine this photographer dealing with people at a wedding.... read more

I have been going to this Great Clips since they opened,the staff is friendly and I always get a good hair cut! My only complaint is that,while I enjoy a little small talk and enjoy getting to know the girls,but a couple of the girls cannot talk and cut hair at the same time and a couple of the conversations have really been unnecessary for example today when I got my hair cut the other stylist kept going on about the medical problems that she has had and her father has had while there were 2 other people were waiting to get their hair cut,I do not want the the stylist to hurry while they are cutting hair they just need to be more aware of the conversations they are having. read more

I have been to all the Great Clips in the BloNo area and this one in Schnuck's is my favorite. I have enjoyed my experience and haircuts and return frequently since I have short hair. I tend to go to this one if I can, but I am willing to go to any of them and will get a good cut. Only one or two of the stylists do razor cuts and I wish they all did because I like a razor cut better than the pointed cut for texturizing. I tend to go on "off" hours and get attention and a great cut, especially from Kristina and Linda. If I go during prime times and the place is busy, both the customer service and the cut are not as good. They may speed up for the customers' sakes because I imagine most folks go to a walk-in place because they want it to be quick (and cheap and good). I use the app to check in and like to go when there's no wait, which means the place isn't busy and then I get the experience I am looking for. They honor competitor's coupons, often remember me, and provide good service (especially for the price). With a coupon, I can easily leave a $5 tip and it's less than a salon cut. If they did razor cuts, I would really be impressed. read more

Made appointment online for specific stylist. I checked in and she left for lunch. No one bothered to tell me. I figured it out when another one wanted to leave (while the place was packed) and I heard them say she was not to until my stylist returned. read more

I started going to Great Clips because of the convenient location and price. I've always been pleased with the results. I am not as concerned as to how long it takes to get a haircut. My 20 year old daughter and I went here 12/31/14 early afternoon for trims. She has hair to the middle of her back and wanted dead ends trimmed and long layers put in. The stylist was very snotty in her tone of voice and it was apparant that she was not happy. Needless to say my daughter received an awful haircut that will need to be fixed by someone else. I asked my stylist for a blunt cut with a few under layers to my shoulder length hair so it would naturally curl under a bit. When I got home, the sides were longer than the back, so mine will need fixed by someone else as well. I would NOT recommend this salon. I felt rushed and unappreciated when I did not want to buy any product. Will go back to searching for a decent salon. read more

My son went in to get his hair trimmed today. Instead of taking an inch or two off the bottom Daphne took off more like 5 or 6 CROOKED inches. (If I figure out how to add before and after photos for you to judge for yourself I will.) I can't believe he has to start school like this in two weeks! It's the most ridiculous cut! And it is not a style appropriate for a high school age guy, but a short bob that flips up at the ends (uneven by 2 inches) more suitable for a young girl. The manager offered to fix it, but she was just making it worse. They offered to send me to another Great Clips for yet another manager to "fix" it, but there is NO WAY I would ever trust anyone of these people to fix this after seeing their first two attempts at a TRIM. This is not a complicated hairstyle, as noted by another one of their stylists who was present. The manager also told my husband this was the second time this employee did this to someone's hair recently but that she would still be keeping her on anyway. I asked the manager to pay for another stylist at another salon to fix his hair (it will take more than one cut with several weeks in between to fix this) and for the phone number of the franchise owner and/or district manager. I was given neither. I was told if I emailed the franchise owner I would hear back from him within minutes. That didn't happen either. These people just flat out DO NOT CARE and Daphne shouldn't be allowed to give hair cuts to roadkill much less people. read more
