I went here on September 14th for a haircut before my son's wedding. I asked for a trim feathered/layered haircut and specifically asked for someone that could do it due to the wedding. I was told it would be about an inch off and no bangs would be touched except evened out. After my hair was chopped off, the stylist informed me the two inches she took off were because she had to try to layer it. She gave me a man's haircut to the bottom of my cranium and my bangs very short. I was shocked and didn't know what to say. I attended my son's wedding and took pics with a man's haircut. I emailed great clips and was informed this shop is franchised and they would pass it on. Nobody has attempted to make contact. Obviously they don't care. This is the second franchise that has screwed up my hair and by the same owner. The manager should have taken care to have someone with experience cut my hair. I saw another lady getting a feather haircut on my way out. I would have waited to have a good mother of the groom haircut. I will not be back and I do not recommend them. This is a poor excuse for a salon if you want a specific style and customer service to care. read more

I did not even get my hair cut from great clips for that picture and I do not even live in merced anymore. Took my daughter to get a cut. She was very excited as she has never gotten her hair cut at a salon before. I only went here because I did not need an appointment and she just wanted a straight, shoulder length cut. I figured, they should be able to do this. Let's just say, I did not have high expectations, but came out disappointed. I paid $14 and tipped $2 for something I could have done better at home. Will not be coming here again. read more

I'm always satisfied with the good customer service, the short wait times and the professionalism of whomever is cutting my hair.One thing I like about my haircuts is consistency. And ever since I've come here, with 3 different stylists, all my cuts have been spot on perfect. Well I'm a guy so it might be easier for me. And it's cool to know that you can "save" the style you want on there system as a memo for future visits. Props to the one stylist with a nose ring/septum. Went in 3 times months apart and after my hair had grown a few inches, and each haircut was perfect. Not much to say about the decor and atmosphere. I went unexpectedly on their anniversary and got my hair cute for $6.99! Normal price is around $13-$15, which isn't bad. If you are on a budget, I would recommend coming here. I went here for the first time about a month ago. I wasn't in there long before I was greeted rudely because my 10 yr old couldn't remember our home number. Well, that's what she thought but we had never been there so the number he was entering wasn't in their system. My mistake was sending him in first thinking a business would be more considerate. For some dumb reason I went back again. This time they completely ruined my sons hair. He has gone to the same person for years. Worse haircut ever! I asked for an inverted bob, which is pretty basic, but I received a horrible haircut. I even showed the stylist pictures of what I wanted. Fortunately, when I told the manager how unhappy I was, she was respectful and offered me a free haircut to fix the mistakes. I've gone to Great Clips several times and generally the experiences reasonable. I'm an older man and have very little hair and don't expect much from my cut, but if I like short sides in a nice fade, and generally get that treatment. My review is not based on my haircut which is generally okay, but they're online check-in. Again, this works well in general, but the last time I made an appointment, I checked it online and it indicated a 35 minute wait, so I went and did a few things as I was pressed for time. When I went to the salon 30 minutes later the app was updated with a 50 wait time. This made no sense to me at all. And as I was sitting there the app kept indicating longer and longer wait times until my wait was going to be over an hour when I was supposed to have an appointment 40 minutes earlier. Maybe just a glitch, but very frustrating. read more

I'm not particularly picky about my haircuts, but I do like both sides of my hair to be cut evenly...and coming here that seems to be hit and miss. Sometimes it's ok...and sometime's it's not. I've been visiting this place for about 2 years (yes yes...why didn't i look elsewhere sooner). Also, I've had one particular stylist a couple of times who asks inappropriate questions (delving too deeply into personal work and personal life things), has absolutely no filter about what she says, and has given me the unique feeling of being completely trapped by a crazy lady with scissors who is in control of my hair. In my life I've gone to numerous Great Clips, Cost Cutters, Super Cuts and other similar chains without any issues at all. These negative experiences have been new to me. Also be warned, my partner encountered the same odd stylist at the new Great Clips over on G Street. Not sure if she's shifted over there or if she works both sites. To be fair, everyone else I've ever had there has been fine...aside from the hit and miss ability to cut my hair evenly on both sides. read more
