Great clips is always hit or miss for a good hair cut. That's about as good as it gets.

I had a funny experience here with a story; however, my suggestion is embedded in it. So I tried to show up when the place opened and a guy parks next to me. Once the first gal shows up, he gets out of his car and heads to the door. I follow him to be second in line. While we are both inside, he puts his name in first and I do mine. Another gal comes in. He is helped to get his haircut. Then another guy comes in to checkin and he states that he was trying to check in online and it says online that this place is open at 9 a.m. But on Sundays, which I am not sure if it is exclusive to Lexington, it actually opens at 10 a.m. (I know this because I have come to this location many times before). One of the gals states that they prevent people from online checking in so that way there is not a big line at 10 a.m. (which, that is kind of on Great Clips, not the customer). This place should be open at 9 a.m. if they have it written anywhere on the business. Now while I am getting my haircut, the guy in front of me tells the gal that he dropped his wife off at church and he decided to get a haircut. While he states this, my haircut gal was like "What? I would have gone to church if I could. You need to be there with her." I found it hilarious and I put my two cents in "If he had gone with her, he would have to wait to get his haircut." Just found that hilarious. So now, that may be a reason as to why this location opens late. Never thought much of it since I grew up in a city and state (not Kentucky) where large demographics of people go to church, determine business hours. read more

I know my hair, and I KNOW what works.I specifically requested a "blunt cut, straight all around." My hair is extremely fine and a good, old 1920s "bob" works best. I got freakin' LAYERS. Now I have to wait for this mess to grow out and go back to the Chevy Chase store where they did it correctly back in October. If a customer requests a straight, blunt cut, don't give them damn layers. What a mess. read more

I've been getting my hair cut here for around 5 years. After Kim cut my hair a few times I started asking for her on a regular basis and I even call now to be sure of when she'll be on duty. Other stylists there have done a good job, but Kim seems to get it perfect every time. Even when a couple people are ahead of me I'm usually in and out within 30-45 minutes, sometimes much quicker. Absent some drastic change, this is where I'll keep getting my hair cut and I'll continue to ask for Kim as long as she's there. read more

Georgia is the best. I have been going to this location for several years. I have had at least 3-4 different girls cut my hair. Almost every time I had to come home and work it over myself. At least once I got butchered badly. I have learned to call first & make sure Georgia is there & if she isn't I don't go until she is there. She pleases me every time. I love the point cut then the finishing with the razor. She is the best cutter I've ever had. I hope she never leaves there. She needs to open her own salon. Other than her there seems to be a large turnover. If you don't want to be disappointed be sure and ask for Georgia. read more

I would have given more STARS but because of management/corporate changes this location has gone down. I've been a customer at this location for over 3 years and until recently was pretty happy with the service - getting my haircut every 2 weeks. Went into the salon twice this week in an attempt to get a hair cut. Neither time did I get my hair cut -- first time the younger stylist buzzed through a cut so fast it seemed she was in a race and her mouth was moving even faster. While the second stylist stood around playing with a broom pretending to sweep hair from her last cut. Don't now why the older stylist didn't attempt to cut my hair (call my name) either way - I left the salon without a cut, I'm not paying to hear "Ms Know It All" run her mouth nor do I want someone who Obviously doesn't want to cut my hair on my head. Went back to the salon the following day.There was 1 person waiting for a cut. Three stylist were working (all three busy) -- after 10 minutes or so 3 other people came into the salon and said they'd signed in Online. Which automatically pushed them ahead of me and the gentleman who was waiting when I came in. A 15 minute wait instantly turned into a 45 minute wait. I don't really care how the "Online sign-in works BUT if you are sitting in the salon for 10 minutes and someone comes in and says "they signed in online" -- the customer sitting in the salon should NOT have to wait for persons who signed in online! First come first serve......until someone comes in and says they " signed in online". I don't like feeling overlooked or jumped in line especially when I'm a Regular customer nor do I like being ignored or have my ear talked off by a kid who knows nothing about me (Veteran) but can stick her nose in the checkout process and tell me why (Veterans) shouldn't/don't get discounts any more . I will find a new salon that appreciate Veterans/Military personnel and give their stylist my $5 tip -- Great Clips loss is Super Cuts gain :o) read more

When my personal stylist goes out of town, I always come here for a haircut so my hair could stay on point 24/7. Ms. Rosemary is a super nice and friendly southern lady, with a lot of patience and she always serves people with a big smile. She listens to my expectations and she does not make you feel like she's trying to rush you out of the shop like some barbers I have previously experienced at great clips. I have been faithful to this place for many years, always been happy. This time, she was talking about the length. I explained how short I wanted it about and stated, a little length, I definitely don't want a military cut or anything. I look up when she gives it a break. Military short. First person to make it look like this with the same notes for 15-20 years now? When I complain, I got ganged up on by the two ladies there. They looked related so understandable. But it was my fault. I said. I don't know their job, scissor cut shorthand vs cutter shorthand. Sounded like inches to me. If she had listened, she would have known. Anyway, I said damage done, just finish it. She kept on, for 10-15 minutes bashing on me about it. I had to respond, which made it even worse. Then it was a, it's just hair, it'll grow back, get over it buddy dismissive thing. I will never return to this establishment again. First time I have left without giving an oversized tip. I gave nothing. Deserved, but I feel kind of weird about that too. A horrible experience. read more

I would like to compliment a very nice, kind, patient, and caring lady who has worked at the Locust Hill location for many years. I have gone there for several years, off and on, and she has cut my hair many times. While some stylists rush you in and out, Rose always begins by asking you how you want your hair cut, always maintains a smile & a pleasant nature the entire time she is cutting your hair. If she is in doubt about anything concerning your cut, she will ask you before just going ahead and doing it wrong. I have been exposed to many stylists throughout the years and she is absolutely one of the nicest & best stylists that I have encountered. I've thought many times how nice the work place would be if everyone conducted themselves like this lady does with both other employees & customers! She cut my hair about a month ago & I absolutely would have to say that it is the best hair cut that I've ever had by any Great Clips stylists. The stylist rushed through my hair cut, less than 10 minutes. The cut was just terrible, one side was cut shorter than the other, she cut my sideburns all the way up past my ear, the cut just wasn't even. I got so mad, and told her to taper the back of my hair and went she finished I touched the back of my head and it wasn't tapered at all. I told her to trim my hair with scissors across the front hairline and she told my that she doesn't use scissors, "what the hell", never heard of a stylist not using scissors, "come on" the cut was so bad that I started not to pay. It's a shame when you have to go home and work on your hair to get it even when you just left a hair salon. She also wasn't very nice, I asked her how she was doing and she said, "I'm tired", if you'll so tired, go home, cause you didn't cut my hair right at all and she didn't even care. Will not be going back to this Great Clips. I really think that she didn't like African American, if she didn't want to cut my hair the right way, she should have said that she couldn't cut African American hair. This shop sucks!!!! read more

the lady did not do a single thing i asked her to do. in fact she did the opposite of what i asked her to do. she then leaned down to my ear and said hatefully and rudely "well, do you like it? say so now because you're not getting another chance and you're not coming back!" she also would not turn the chair around for me to see the butcher job she had given me. i didn't tell anyone and complain because i just wanted to get out of there. she complained about the manager and her coworkers constantly the whole time i was sitting there. i was very afraid of her. when i got home i combed my hair because she had not done so before i left. my hair is long in some places, short in some places and very uneven. i have gaps in places. it is NOTHING like i wanted. if i could have given them negative stars, I would have. she didn't listen, didn't care what i wanted. in my opinion, she only wanted to punish me for being in a fowl mood and being a very angry human being. shame on you for letting here take her anger out on someone who just wanted a haircut! read more
