I've been a customer for a while. Had an excellent cut by Michelle several months ago. My visit March 2 with Rebecca didn't go as well. She read the notes from my last cut, "slight trim, rounded". I said no, I wanted about three inches off. I came in with my curly hair damp but but not wet. She sprayed it some but not enough for it to relax. Then she started pruning. I said, "I have had a few haircuts and I've never had anyone do it this way. Generally they clip up the top and start cutting from the bottom." "I'm just going to cut the length off, " she said. She didn't pull down, cut in sections, or even compare sides. She just started whacking on one side and went to the other. After some confusion about the term "under cut," we clarified that I like it layered so the underside is slightly shorter than the top so the bottom edge isn't so thick. When she was done whacking the length off, she did clip my hair up, take and inch it so off a small amount of the back, and say, "is this enough?" Weirdest thing Then she spun me around and I saw that it was not rounded at all. Straight across with maybe the front a little longer than the back. I asked for a little more rounding. Whack whack. "Better?" Sure. I just wanted to get out of the chair so, after she did a little blow drying (no attempt at styling or even controlling the curl, just blowing the moisture out some), I put my hair in a pony tail and left. When I got home and brushed it out, the right front was easily three inches longer than the left and definitely longer than the back. Like an A Line gone wrong. I'm talking a fistful, not a few strands. I cut off a large cupful of hair (i have pics if anyone wants to see) and it's STILL longer so II'm about to attempt to even it out. Never once did she check the lengths on each side. She didn't even comb it out straight to make sure her lines were straight. I was tempted to see if Michelle could fix it. She's very careful but I think I'm done. I'll straighten it out as best I can and make an appointment with a different stylist near me. read more

I take a lot of pride in searching for the best deal - price and quality included. And I had great (no pun intended) results at my first THREE haircuts here. Well, that was a few years ago. Where have the great hair cutters gone? My last four or five haircuts have sucked! Only thing allowing me to go back are their coupons or after a few weeks, I look pretty good again. But I think I'll get my next haircut planned around a trip to Sacramento. There's a really good Great Clips FYI in Gold River. I brought my daughter in for a simple trim, but unfortunately, the stylist cut far more than we asked for. We were very specific about wanting just a light trim, but she didn't listen, and now my daughter's hair is much shorter than we were comfortable with. I went in with specific instructions of "a quarter inch trim" and left with way more cut off. The stylist also added layers because she thought it would "help my natural curl". I hate my curly hair and never wanted layers. The layers have made my hair super thin and now I feel like I'd be better off chopping inches just to get rid of them. read more

Couldn't execute a shaved head. Asked for a shaved head (same guard length on the whole thing, and short), and the stylist claimed that it was easy and hard to get wrong. After a quick pass, she handed me the mirror, and I pointed out the many places she had missed. She apologized and said that there are always some spots you miss with a shave, and tried to fix it up. She didn't give the mirror back this time, and when I got to my car, I found 8 spots that she had missed, including my sideburns and behind my ear. Will not be returning. read more

I am absolutely pissed at the haircut my daughter received today. She wanted a short cut with bangs and the bangs are completely uneven and I had to try to fix them because there were hairs still long touching her nose. Then I look in the back and she has a whole tail in the back where the woman just left hair. Also one side of her bob is noticeably longer than the other. This woman is horrible at cutting hair. I am really sad because the salon that usually cuts my daughters hair was book for a while so we decided to give this place a try and I wish I never stepped foot in there. I don't want to even begin to talk about the rude comments of the blonde woman cutting my oldest sons hair. I said I want my hair at shoulder length with one tapered layer above it. The first thing this person with blue hair did was wacked it off in the back. She cut my hair so short that next thing I knew she was getting out the razor to shave my neck. My hair is now up short at my ears.!!! And on top of that she left overkill of long globs of hair. If she spent more than 15 min cut my hair I would be shocked. Everything was uneven. There was nothing I could do once she wacked off the back. And she didn't even try to clean it up. I checked in on line, estimated time 39 minutes. Cool. Walk in and am greeted, I told the lady I would like to wait for Michel. Cool. The next lady calls me, again waiting for Michel. Cool. The third lady calls me and says your waiting for Michel? I said yes. She then tells me; Michel has to go to lunch at 1:00PM and by the time she returns she will be off at 2:00PM. It is mandated by LAW! The store opens at 9:00AM she is off at 2:00PM. WHY was this not brought up when I walked in. The ladies had clear view of the wait list, know the lunch schedule, and know how long it takes the average hair cut time. I will not be back to any Great Clips! read more

Sometimes convenience isn't everything, I stopped because there was no wait time... cut went ok , the lady was very nice but when I got home I had long hairs behind my ear and my lines were messed up. I figured I would try them one more time since a lady messed my hair up before. Nope still just as bad and for 22 I should have it done right.. unfortunately my wife took our son there before I could say no and omg it was just as bad ... she didn't even fade his hair or use clippers!! Wth ... now I have to pay a barber just to fix what they have done... We checked in and it said 50 min wait. We came in around 50 min and then they said my husband was next in 5 minutes. My husband was so patient. 20 minutes later he asked how much longer and they said 5 minutes. But another fifteen minutes passed. They also joked around about one of the customers having lice. What a joke! The call ahead app. Is ridiculous I went from 40 mins to 20 to 0 to 15 to 3 min totally made up. Then I get to the chair and from start of my cut to the end of my cut was 3 1/2 minutes!!!! How is it possible to get a good haircut in 3 1/2 minutes! Answer YOU CANT!! I got the worst haircut of my life! I asked for a shoulder length haircut and I showed the woman THREE photos. She repeated to me that I wanted a cut like the three pictures, shoulder length. When she was finished my hair was 2" long on top and 1" to 1 /2" in back. I look terrible! I do not like short hair on me. My hair grows slowly, so I will have short hair for a very long time. I do not know why she disregarded my wishes and gave me a cut that I did not want. Now I have to live with it. Besides the short length, it is a bad, unflattering cut. I will have to go somewhere else and see if there is anything that another hairdresser can do to improve my cut. I am an extremely unhappy customer! I called the Great Clips location in Jackson at 2:30 to see about getting an appointment that afternoon . (I was driving and calling with Bluetooth) I was informed that they do not except reservations over the phone. They said I could reserve a spot online. They also said I could walk in and that they were open until 9:00 PM. I still had to go to my office and run a few other errands so I did that and then showed up around 6:00 PM. I was told I would have about an hour wait. I put my name in and asked if I could go get something to eat and was and was told that would be fine. I was also told that to get my hair washed and dried with a blowout would be $45 +7 dollars for the washing I agreed that I would pay that price because I was working out of town but was surprised at the high price for this type of salon. I don't pay that much at an Aveda salon where I get much more of a spa feel. I went next-door and got something to eat and then came down and sat to wait. I was impressed to see that they had a monitor with names and Queue with those names in the order in which they either came in or made their online reservation. I waited until 7:40 PM my name was at the top of the list and a man was called ahead of me his name wasn't directly behind mine and may have been too behind mine I'm not sure. I understand that I have long hair and that perhaps they thought they could get him in and out and didn't want him to wait and I probably would have been happy to agree to such if I had been asked, but I felt it was extremely unprofessional and extremely poor customer service to ignore me and act as though none of us could see the queue. No one acknowledged that someone was being taken out of order or that I would be .waiting longer. I walked out. I should say at this point that they had taken my number and could have called to apologize or ask if I was planning to return. Nothing . So disappointing. read more

I checked in online at 6:20 and was given a 50 minute estimate. I got to the store at 7:00 and was told it would still be another 30 minutes. We sat there until 8:00 and still no haircut. The hair dresser in the front made it clear she was unhappy that we were still waiting and even joked with her costumer that haircuts done after 8:00 would be messed up. We have been customers at this store for years because it was always convenient, even though the haircuts were mediocre at best. Thank you for being rude enough to finally make me go elsewhere. These people do not know how to cut hair!!!! I went in for a routine trim. It took me four years to grow my hair out....The girl who took me did not even wash my hair...she sprayed it with a water bottle and then chopped off all my length. I didn't know until she took the robe off of me when I noticed my hair was gone. She also butchered my layering so that it was off on either side. She commented the length was "cute" and didn't even blow dry my hair or anything before sending me on my way in 10 minutes. I wanted to cry... It's going to take me forever to grow it back out!! I have never cried over a haircut until today. I went in there and all I wanted was my hair layered and bangs. I even brought a picture and told her it didnt have to be just like it but I want full bangs. She told me I would look bad with bangs cause my face was too round and told me to do side bangs. So I agreed side bangs it was. She complained the whole time cutting my hair and made me feel like I was totally inconveniencing her to get my hair cut. She didn't even frame it in the front I had to ask for it and she didn't even do a good job and my side bangs looked super botched. Checked in online, and when i got there only had to wait 5 minutes before I was helped even though there was a decent size line, i showed the hair dresser a picture of what i wanted and she got right away to cutting it, she asked me before cutting the other side of my head if i liked the length, i was in there for a total of 15 minutes max, great place, i recommend checking in online and then when you get there tell them who you are and that you checked in. read more

My husband has been going to Great Clips for several years. Usually gets a pretty decent cut and never checks in online but today he was there a few minutes after the salon opened and they made him wait 45 mins. There was only one other person there and several stylists available. Because he did not "check in" online he was penalized for that. They took at least 8 people that came in after him first because they checked in online. What kind of system is that? He won't be going back for sure. That's too bad because the girls that work there are friendly and do a good job. It's their system that sucks! Not everyone is technologically savvy or have good cell service or internet. And then there is JuLe/Julie, who gets zero stars from me - hence the two star review. JuLee has none of what it takes to be a hairdresser. Neither courtesy, nor talent, nor any sense of customer service. She certainly has attitude. We have given her several tries. I have no idea why they're keeping her there. read more

As a regular customer with a well documented history of my usual haircut for the last 10 years, should be a no-brainer for the stylist. 1/2 to an inch off all the way around, depending on how long since my last visit. Apparently Dejah feels she has a better understanding of what I should be getting than the other 10 stylists I have had there or myself, and figured a quick pass with a Toro Weed Whacker was more in line with what I needed.
