Didn't get my hair cut. I walked out. I went here to cheer myself up after a rough morning and was met by a woman named Wendy who had a bad attitude and wanted to talk to me as if I was stupid. Little miss "I know what curtain bangs are" after I wanted to show her a picture of the style I wanted. There's more to it than curtain bangs Wendy! You should know that. Maybe learn what respect is Wendy. I refuse to let someone with bad energy touch my hair. Have a great day great clips team! And an even better day to you Wendy. Cheer up butter cup. read more

My wife needed a haircut to cheer herself up and the hair stylist (Wendy) met my wife with an attitude. When my wife tried to show her the curtain bangs she wanted, Wendy went on to say "I know what a curtain bang looks like" and she said it with an attitude. This completely ruined my wife's experience and ruined her mood for the day. Never ever coming back to that location read more

The last 3 haircuts here were hack jobs. Had to return to get some of the missed long hairs trimmed. Each time, uneven, thinned on one side but not on other side. They seemed put out to repair, and then left just as bad. After $25 and a $20 gratuity you would think they would want to provide a decent service. Avoid Imperial Beach if you care what your hair looks like. Botch job specialists read more

My husband called ahead for a haircut and they had him come straight in because they had an open schedule. He requested the sides to be trimmed to a 4 and an inch off the top. The haircut turned out perfect! The hairdresser said she has been there for 8 years and she was so kind, fast, and the haircut was a great price. The vibe is very chill and he had a great haircut experience. He will definitely be back in two months to get his next haircut! read more

Very disappointed in the prices! I paid $175, and my greys are already coming back! They said it would last four weeks, and it's been less than two weeks! read more

I have been coming to Great Clips Since the store opened in IB as I am a local and I can tell you this. Every single stylist there is amazing. especially Sunem. She has always had an amazing and positive personality. she always listens to me and does a great job when I decide to change my hairstyle. she will definitely do her best to accommodate my needs. now that I have moved to DownTown I always make a drive to this SPOT only to get my haircut. Definetly 10/10 Recommend read more

First time getting haircut there. Sunem did a great job and understood what I wanted. I'm an older guy and she had to navigate a few areas with a bit less coverage than other areas. Got the cut I wanted! That's what counts! She's fun to talk to and I enjoyed the experience. I'll be back. read more

I would like to give a shout out to WENDY out of the Imperial Beach location. she was amazing with me and my daughter. My daughter gets very nervous when it comes to cutting her hair. Wendy was extremely patient and very professional. My daughter had a runway walk a few days later and the cut and style was perfect for her. My daughter was very happy with the results. As for me Wendy did exactly what I requested for my hair. I was very happy! YOU ROCK WENDY!!! read more

The ladies are sooo nice ok, the girl that did my hair was hella sweet. But girl if you don't know how to layer hair please just say that and pass me on. My hair is absolutely ruined and now I need to chop it off in order to fix. Not blended at all, super disappointed... ladies do not get layers here. A simple trim is probably fine but please refer to my pictures. Was trying to grow out my hair but it's thick so I needed layers and boy do I wish I went to my hair color specialist. Hoping this review will help someone. read more

Very easy setting online appointment and my stylist was super nice and did a great job!

I came here to get some weight off of my "short bob" I ended up leaving with what feels like a grown out pixie cut. I explained to Gina that I didn't want it shorter, I simply wanted some weight to be taken off. She added choppy layers and left holes in my hair. I was able to go back and they offered to fix it, Natsumi was really sweet and was able to blend in the choppy layers a little bit but I'm still really unhappy with my hair right now. read more

I called and needed a quick shampoo and flat iron. I was told it would be $65 which I thought was expensive but was in a hurry so came in. When I got there I was told it would be $85. $85 to wash my hair and flat iron it. Read that again, $85. The stylist said I had a lot of hair but my hair was in a bun and she couldn't even see it. I left and went to a local salon down the street and spent $50- a normal price. read more

Went to get a haircut today felt very rushed and as she was using the clippers she was hurting me and she didn't know how to count inches then I ask for the receipt she said take a picture of it and then see you in 2 months no thanks read more

Fantastic salon! The hair stylists are easy going and friendly, yet they really know what they're doing. Our stylist was sporting a harness with 4 scisssors, each for different ent hair/style! Also, great salon for kids! read more

I don't think they disinfect their scissors , razors, combs, brushes after each client. Dirty work area

Went in for a trim and added layers and this is what I got. Hair stylist was rushing through my haircut because one guy came in after me. Went to other stylists to get consultations to fix it and they literally thought a child cut my hair. Going to have to get extensions to hide this mess. Gonna cost me $500 to fix a $20 haircut. read more

I went to this location yesterday and I had the best experience. Crystal cut my hair. I told her what I wanted and I explained to her that I had been cutting my own hair for the past year, and she had her work cut out for her. She listened and she put her professionalism at work and my hair looks amazing. Plus she was really kind and funny and I enjoyed the total experience. THANK YOUJCRYSTAL! !! I went in yesterday with a small thick knot of hair on the back of my head that I tried to detangle in my front of my bathroom sink for an hour..finally gave up and Aileen got it out along with saving my hair from being chopped off..ended up getting a trim and medium layers..overall I was happy and calmed down after she took the knot out read more

Great Clips - The knot I couldn't get out at home - Hair Salons Near Me - Imperial Beach, California

Checked in, 18 minutes wait then 28 minutes girl took of for lunch then went to 35 minutes, BS still waiting now 48 minutes!!!

This is the best hair cut I've ever gotten! I checked in online, was seen as soon as I walked in and the service was just amazing. I wish I got the girls name but I will definitely be returning here from now on. She was so attentive. Always asked if the length was okay as she was cutting since I asked for several layers. Very polite and courteous. I was amazed at the price in the end because for that great a service, I thought it would be more. Thank you so much! read more

Lisa took very good care of me today at Great Clips. She was very informative about ways to get my hair to look and feel fuller. I usually get layers when I get a haircut. This time I had Lisa cut my hair straight across. Her suggestion. I'm very happy with my change. Definitely recommend going here for a haircut!! read more

Their haircuts are choppy and uneven. Not sure what it is but there are weird uneven patches and no way of fixing it!

I recently moved to this area from Clairemont. I tried other places in Imperial Beach & got mediocre haircuts at best. That was until I found GREAT CLIPS & A Wonderful Hair Stylist Extrodinaire by the name of: SUNEM! She not only took the time to really listen to how I wanted my hair, & took the time to give me THE BEST HAIRCUT EVER. Very professional and told me exactly what direction my hair was growing. Sunem was very polite & very funny. So, Thank You GREAT CLIPS & SUNEM for making me look good, & Always leaving your shop with a Smile on my face! read more

Today was the second time I had Wendy cut my hair and I swear this woman never attended beauty school, perhaps learned from watching tv. Again, she barely cut any of my hair then applied product and started blow drying it out. This time rather than going to another place to pay to have it cut correctly, this time I said I was not happy. I was transferred to another chair with another stylist who quickly decided I should be seen by the Manager for my cut. At this point I was beyond humiliated. The haircut I received was closer to what I hoped for but I left feeling my hair, twice cut, was butchered. Thinking ahead, I said I would want to pay for the cut. I had no expectation or desire for it to be a free cut... but I was offered no discount for a horrible experience. The Manager did tell me the first stylist I had would be sent home as others had complained. I said I didn't need to know that. In fact, I think it may be law that management cannot tell a customer what punishment an employee will receive. She said she wanted me to know that my complaint had not fallen on deaf ears. whatever. This is the second time, horrible experience. Also, during my haircut with the Manager, she asked if I was wearing ...and she paused.... sunscreen. She didn't explain why she was asking. I in fact wear a bronzer.... her comments, after all I'd been through, had the the effect of shaming me as she seemed put off by whatever was on my face. I guess men, in her view, don't wear such. whatever. I am disappointed in the lack of professionalism over all in this store. I do not recommend this service to anyone. One more thing. I was the only customer in the store to begin with. Three hairstylists --- while I was getting my hair cut, the other two were laughing it up, loudly. Even when another customer came in, they continued their discussion. My husband was sitting in the chair waiting for me... we both agreed it showed little concern for the clients. Very unprofessional. read more

Very nice & very efficient. At previous hair salons it took others about 45 minutes for my haircut but here it takes about 15-20 minutes, very good especially if you're in a hurry read more

I give my stylist Vanessa 4 stars, but I give Great Clips 1 star. Minimal products, minimal experience. Military discount is $1 off the $17 haircut only! $75 for a shampoo, trim and blow dry?!? Huge rip off! I'll be sticking with SuperCuts where I get better service for a way better price. $25 for 25 minutes of styling and then $1/minute after that is insane!! SuperCuts is a flat cost for heat styling so no need to rush to save money. Vanessa was sweet and tried to do what she could to save me money. She seemed to be very new and kept asking questions to the other lady there on how to do things. I like my hair, but it's not $75 worth! read more

Tiffany is AMAZING. I am a picky a** lady when it comes to my hair, but I have zero complaints walking out of this adorable and quaint salon. These ladies know what they're doing. And, I love them so much, I'm hiring them as my hair stylists for my wedding! There are 12 of us! I couldn't give a higher recommendation. Love 'do boutique!!! read more

First time ever going over to Great Clips & decided to try the Imperial Beach location (801 Palm Avenue). When I went into the store, there were 2 women working. The gal who checked me in was nice but unfortunately I did not get her. I ended up getting Wendy, the older woman who looked like she had too many face lifts & blue lips. She was so rude & I can tell she did not want to cut my hair because it was long. I had just washed it & she wanted to wash it AGAIN just in case I had tangles. I don't understand why she couldn't have used conditioning spray & it doesn't take much to untangle my hair. So she did a rush job on me like she did with all the other customers while I was waiting for my turn. She cut it shorter than I wanted but since my hair grows fast, it didn't matter, I just wanted to get out of there. I even gave her a $5.00 tip just to be nice but I should of tipped her less. And when I was walking out after paying, I thought it sounded like she said "Sheez!" I don't feel I did anything wrong except my hair being long so she did not make me feel welcomed & I will definitely NOT go back to this location. read more

I've been here twice - first time was good enough to get me to come back 2nd time convinced me to never return. Completely incompetent stylist who within 30 seconds of me sitting in the chair shaved off a section of hair she was told at least twice not to touch. And instead of owning it she tried making excuses before starting to apologize. The rest of the cut was equally terrible and she was well aware I wasn't satisfied but proceeded to charge me full price. A complaint to corporate let me know this is a franchised location so they weren't willing to do anything. Don't be fooled by the slogan at the bottom of the receipt "Satisfaction Guaranteed" and if Carmen is your stylist just leave. read more

I've had nothing but pleasant experiences at this location. I've been getting by haircut here for about a year and each time I've been happy with my cut. I've had 4 different stylists and they are all very good at cutting hair. I've had negative experiences with great clips in the past but this location definitely had their stuff in order. $17 with military discount could be better. I'd prefer $15 so I can give the person who cut my hair the extra $2, but other then that I really like this place. If you want a fast good looking haircut for about $20 this is your spot. read more

What a great experience my daughter and I had today at Great Clips. We both got our hair washed, conditioned and cut and blown out. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. WORST HAIR SALON EVER I went twice second time to fix my hair and it came out even worse, so uneven, first time she didn't cut it the way I wanted it to be, and when she was cutting it it wasn't even wet she cut it dry the second time I went to a different lady, told her I wanted it a little bit shorter andtold her to thin my hair out and she left patches can't even wear my hair half way up, I've been going there for years and those two lady's did not know what they were doing even though they are "experienced" read more

Lisa has given me a fantastic cut every time I've gone to Great Clips. She is the first hairdresser who has figured out how to tame my cowlick without just cutting it off. Not only are her skills as sharp as her blades, but she is a great conversationalist to boot! read more

Im only leaving 1 star because it wouldn't let me choose no stars. I don't know what it is about great clips but they are always so rude. My husband went in just for a basic buzz haircut. I mean like it's hard to get that wrong. The lady cutting his hair seemed like she hadn't ever cut anyone's hair. She asked some other lady working the front for help, all while having a horrible attitude. They spoke in Spanish with an attitude, and they thought I didn't know what they were saying. On top of that they didn't even clean off any of the hair on him and he was so done with their attitude, that he went next store to Starbucks and washed it off. read more

Me and my mom went their to get trims before and they cut it crooked so we stopped going, but recently my little brother needed a haircut because he was starting school and his usually barber was busy so we went their because it was the closest one open and they left him with a bald spot and didn't even tell us and the lady tried to cover it up with his other hair. It was so bad that we had to shave my poor brothers head and he's embarrassed to go to school now and won't take off his hat. read more
